[Oh, hey, look who's finally been rebooted after having been essentially shut down for repairs for the past, what, two weeks after his unfortunate run-in with a certain psychotic medic. Yeah, sorry he's been out for so long - it took medics a while to find or fabricate the parts needed, oops.]
[Deckard's sitting on a repair berth, one hand to his head, the other steadying his Link device.]
Sorry for being out of commission for so long.
Can . . . can someone update me on things? From . . . ah . . . the past two weeks, apparently.

audio;
[Because that would JUST be their luck.]

Not . . . to my knowledge. [Give him a second while he checks as much as he can
Where is Toudou when you need him?] No, my firewalls are intact. Why?audio
[He pauses, a beat too long.]
... McCrane is infected.
audio
[Oh. In that too-long pause, it hits him that you're not talking about a computer virus, are you? He stiffens at the last, silently cursing himself for what suddenly feels like "leaving his team vulnerable". Or something.
No, it's not a logical thought. It's not even a fully conscious one, really.]How bad? Where is he?
What about you? And Power Joe, and Drill Boy?
audio
I took him to the clinic. He's... safe. [He has to be.] I'm fine. I know Power Joe is all right. I haven't heard from the little one.
audio
[Yeah, let's focus on that. Because the rest . . what he doesn't understand, what he can't fight - what he can't protect his team from - scares the crap out of him in a very real way.]
[There's shuffling as he works himself off the berth, pausing to be sure of his balance.]
audio
An avalanche?
audio
Mnn…cave-in, whatever. When I went looking for him, I finally found him under a pile of rubble in a hole at the edge of the Badlands. He'd gotten stuck in robot mode and couldn't change, so he couldn't just drill himself out.

His badge was knocked free from its holder and lying where he couldn't reach it. Though I could see where he'd kept trying –there were scratch marks in the dirt.
[a sigh]
Anyway, he's been too quiet again lately. He promised me he wouldn't go out again without telling someone…
[Worried team lead is getting really worried.]
audio
...
Sometimes, the living robots here fall unconscious. They stay that way for a long time, no one can reach them.
But they come back. Saying they remember more of their home.
audio
[Oh, don't think he hasn't thought it! He's just steadfastly refusing to acknowledge the thought…]
That's . . . strange. Does anyone know what causes it? Are there any other effects than the added memories?
audio
No one knows. Sometimes they return... changed. Their frames are altered.

I've only seen it happen. No one seems to know how.
