[Video] - transmission from Liege Maximo's temple
Hm... [Jetfire looks... somewhat like he feels out of his depth when the feed pops on, an expression somewhere between thoughtful and awkward.]
If you were going to give a gift to mark an occasion, would you match it to the other individual involved, or the event itself? [He shakes his helm, pausing and intending to rephrase but can't quite come up with something... This just isn't his particular area really.]
[A while after this question was asked, a second message, locked this time, gets tagged on.]
[Locked to DW!Starscream]
Come meet me on that cliff a bit outside Solus Prime's quadrant? The one that overlooks the forest.

Power, a few other things we don't have available here and... [He shakes his helm.] One or two things I could still give, but well... [Jetfire huffs, crossing his arms over his chestplates.] I'm uncertain if he actually wanted the rock or if it was just because I was expressing interest in it, and anything else I'm going to have to think about.
[He's pretty sure he knows how far he can, wants, and is ready to go, but still.]<7small>

If he likes power then give him something that symbolizes that? A crown, a cape, a big hammer...Wait. What rock?
no subject
Which? [He tilts his helm, realising he might have missed something.]
... Those are... not bad ideas. [He has to pause to rub his chin, though, hiding his mouth in an outward attempt at stifling laughter. He hadn't thought of that, but it was... amusing.] Ah, nothing amazing but a rather interesting rock I found on one of my geological surveys in Nexus Prime's quadrant.
[Give him a moment and he'll take out the rock, probably the size of a minibot's closed fist, maybe slightly larger. It's mostly purple and... glows a little.]
This. I've been searching for more samples so I can do more extensive research.
no subject
Ohnothingitsnothing. I just thought that you had dated more people before... I mean look at you...
I'm sure someone else with more experience will be able to give you better ideas, though. [But there, you have some amusing ones.] Can I ask what's so a-ma-zi-ng about a rock? I...oh!
[Shinnyyyyyyyy.]You don't know what it is?
no subject
You've been helpful, actually, whether or not I use them. It's put a few possibilities forward, if nothing else.
[Turning the rock over in his hands, Jetfire shrugged again.]
Well, I am interested in geology and related topics, so to me this is inherently interesting... What he likes from it is probably merely because it looks interesting [Shiny, that is.] and because I've expressed interest in it.
[Jetfire's voice is very dry as he says the last, but there's something like a smile in his optics.]
General composition and such, I do yes, but that doesn't explain everything and while it's large enough to take samples from, I would prefet it if I had more than a single one.
no subject
Blurr smiles shyly.] I'm glad I helped in some way.
How very...mature of him. [Blurr is trying not to smile.]
Is it some sort of energon?
no subject
No, it's just a rock, though it does have some minute traces of energon content. Not enough to be worth of note or be capable of doing more than warm the stone if it was shot at and the energon disturbed.
And he's only as mature as he has to be.
[Which could be a lot when he, well, had to. Other times it meant being very, very annoying.]
As for the... er, mechs I've been with... Neither. All of those were long before the war, and I can't say I know what faction they chose... or if they still live.
[None of them had been serious or long-lasting, more like mutual exploration out of curiosity.]
no subject
I noticed that. He's pretty irritating most of the time, no offense, but he's been a respectable member of the Law Committee so far too.
That's a long time. [In Blurr's world, that's it.] But I'm glad that you are happy with your partner.
no subject
And yes, I'm quite aware of how, ah... aggravating he can be. [At that, Jetfire smiled, optics bright and helm tilted. He wasn't one to minimise Starscream's faults.]
I suppose it's been a while yes, but I've never thought about it. After I met Starscream at the academy it never came up.
[Jetfire shrugged, and whether he was aware of the possible... reasons as to why said thing might never had come up again after he met Starscream was hard to tell.]
no subject
I guess that also makes him never boring. [As long as those faults can be accepted there shouldn't be a problem.]
The academy? What sort of academy, if I can ask?
[Blurr won't question it further.]
no subject
Indeed it doesn't. [Jetfire snorts, the smile turing dry.] And, ah... the academy for science we both went to for our education and later research. [Let's just pretend it actually has a name.] It may not look like it now but Starscream was - among other things - a scientist.
no subject
Wait, really? The one in my universe is nothing like that. It's hard to imagine Starscream doing science.
no subject
[Pausing, Jetfire's expression turns slightly arch.] And now as well, as long as it'll directly help him in his endeavours.
[It wasn't everybody who could alter their own weapons to affect natural abilities like the null ray was, after all.]
no subject
Human say that a 'tiger a tiger cannot change its stripes'.
However, it can still be tamed a bit.
[Smart Con.]

[He's thought a little about it, and really, somehow that isn't so hard to accept on a theoretical angle, though it'd probably feel more unsettling if he ended up in such a reality.]
... I think I understand the spirit of the saying. [He chuckles, shaking his helm.] And it does make sense, though he didn't start out as murderously vicious as he's ended up... [Pausing, Jetfire's optics narrow a little.] To add to that, he's also somewhat... mellowed, compared to earlier in the war.
Not to say he's anywhere near to a gentle spark, and of course harsher than before the war but it was worse.
[Starscream would probably feel very happy his name wasn't techically attached to this discussion.]
no subject
Life can make us change in a drastic way but there's probably always part of us that's immutable. Mellowed is definitely not bad. War made us all more sour, I was really glad when it was over. [Such a dark age for them.]
I understand.
[Ah, the art of subtlety.]
no subject
[He shrugs slightly, optics dimming a little as well at the thought of the things any one of them might be capable of... especially if the normal course of things was flipped.]
War is never a pleasant thing, no. Some adjust more easily and even revel in it... [Another shake of his helm. That got a bit more depressing than he'd thought.]
Thank you for the suggestions, though.
no subject
Yeah. [It did, Blurr's sorry for bringing it up.]You are welcome. I hope some of those help you. I guess I should get back to work.
no subject
[Oh, no, Blurr shouldn't be. It's a huge thing to not discuss every now and then.] They should, if not now then surely later.
no subject
[It is but he doesn't want to make people feel sad.] I'm glad then. See you, Jetfire.
no subject
[With a shake of his helm, Jetfire smiles anyway.]<7small>
You as well.
