[The scientist has his face resting in his hand, optics offlined while he rubs at his forehead.]
I can't get a damned text through to his comm. Voice either. It's as if...
[Perceptor trails off, suddenly realizing he's activated the "call all" button, or broadcast function, whichever it is. He straightens, looking abruptly less defeated and more irritable. Which is normal for him.]
Has anyone been able to locate Smokescreen as of late?
If he's run off on some idiotic adventure, I would prefer to hear of it. Now.

If it wasn't for Perceptor's muttered words.
His somewhat relaxed expression gives way to temporary shock and worry, before it slowly sinks to his own irritation, optics narrowing a little.
Frag it, not him too. Not the only other member, besides him, of the team that was still in Haven.]
No. No I haven't.
Haven't seen him, or heard from him since Knock Out passed out.
Did you say or do anything to agitate him into radio silence?
[It's a possibility -- Perceptor himself had done it often enough.]
Generally locked from Decepticons
no subject
[He hopes.]
No! ...well I mean I got annoyed cause he and Knock Out were evidently dating. [He still kind of wishes he hadn't known that. But now he worries if that could've caused this.]
But...I eventually went to help Smokescreen with him. When I left, we were on pretty good terms.

And don't listen to Bulkhead, why would I date an Autobot? Much less a rookie like Smokescreen? I have more taste than that. [Denial. denial forever.]
[Not a comment but...]
...
Don't answer that.]
[He turns around, and starts banging on a keyboard.]
Where did you see him last. Exact coordinates.
no subject
Oh for Primus' sake, I hardly give a rusted bolt for dating information. I want him found.
First and foremost!
[Bulkhead waves a hand, as he pings Perceptor with the coordinates of where Knock Out collapsed.]
I'd help look, but got other stuff going on. [Namely Tarn. But there's still an underlying tone of worry and concern there.]
Perce...find him. Please. He...was the only other member of the team from back home that I had left.
[He wants to be out looking himself so badly. But he can't. He knows there's little chance of him being found, but all angles needed to covered.]
no subject
Good. [Is bad enough that Prowl knows.]
Why do you worry so much? We you his boyfriend then? [Knock Out know that's not the case but doesn't stop him from wondering why is Perceptor so focused on someone who wasn't his partner.]
It's Perceptor, and I intend to. If there are any traces in the field... I'll find them.
no subject
No.
His guardian. A role I take rather seriously.
no subject
His guardian. [Knock Out frowns.] You did an awful job.
[Not a comment but...]
Perceptor, sorry. [But he's also willing to be corrected too. Too soon for nicknames anyway, since they haven't talked that much. He looks grateful for Perceptor's help, though.]
Thanks, Perceptor. I owe ya one.

...
Good day.
[He probably should be more mature than this. But he hangs up, unwilling to deal with jabs like that.]
[Audio]
Man, not surprised. Team Prime's got the bug, it seems.
[Something he...really hates admitting. Bulk's a part of that.]
[Audio]
[That. Came out more sharply than he'd have liked it to.]
[Audio]
Sarge.
That's all this place does.
[Audio]
... I need to look.
Surely, you understand that much, at least...
[Audio]
[You can't tell from beyond the feed, but he's wincing slightly at that sound. He knew.
More than anyone would think.
It happened to Lyra, after all]
Just...don't get your hopes up, Sarge.
[Audio]
[He drags his hands down his face. Repeatedly.]
... I swore off social contact after your... fainting incident, you know.
[Audio]
[Seriously, Perceptor, if anything Wheeljack thinks you totally like Smokescreen a bajillion times more. Why not keep contact?]
It's easier if ya don't blame yourself.
[Audio]
[There's a handwave in there. Somewhere.]
[... Disappearances were what he feared. And he'd been right.]
[Audio]
[His eyes close a moment, not that Perceptor can see. He'd blamed himself one too many times.]
Makes ya wonder if you're the problem.
[Audio]
[Audio]
Just...sayin' it feels like it.
I know. I've felt it too.
[Audio]
... Then understand that I need to look. I can't simply... leave it like this.
[Like he did with Magnus.]
[Audio]
..
Just don't get hurt, Sarge.
[And he doesn't mean physically.]
[Audio]
[More silence. Uncharacteristic of Perceptor. Even when he was upset, he'd be babbling or undermining or... talking.]
[Now he's quiet.]
An attempt will be made, I'm sure.
