I'm glad that everyone came back okay. I bet that was a tough mission, and I'm really glad that all of you are willing to protect us like that.

[He's so proud to be a part of the Police Force, even if he's only a secretary.]

I know this isn't really my place, but I have to ask: What do you guys think of how things are here? Would you change anything if you could? Besides going home that is, I think that's pretty much what everyone wants.

Well, if I may be frank, someone to help you out and also make sure you don't overwork yourself. In which case, I can definitely help with the latter.

Tighter security. It'd be nice for the Firstforged to intervene once in a while. More organization. Lots more. Frequent, mandatory medical check-ups. Guess which I want the most.

[It's obvious she's at the Junk Pile when she answers, helm tilting and optics brightening.]

I can do that, yes. Would probably be a lot easier for you as well, I think. [She smiles, but that's all, and then holds up a box. It's not giant in her hand, but it'd be to him.]

That's nice of you Mr. Mccoy, but I've got this covered. There really is't that much to do.

[Sure, Cody spends most of his time in the office, but he's come to enjoy himself there. Also he doesn't mind the chance to talk to Prowl every now and then.]

The Haven sure lets a lot slide doesn't it? I mean, that guy Frenzy was convicted of murder, and he's running around like nothing happened. I keep saying that we should put up some cameras for security, so I think I'll see what I can do about that myself.

Wait really? What is it, did you look?

[Suddenly he's excited. He got something too? Noble!]

Being here isn't really our choice you know.

[He's seen you around bro and he definitely doesn't like you.]

I wasn't, but since there was no way of finding out who it was for without checking the inside bottom, I did check, yes. Do you want to know before hand, or wait?

[The picture within is really sweet, and she hopes having such a thing might be more helpful than not.]

I get they want us to build our own society, but this is ridiculous. Especially when it comes to people murderin' each other and the police clearly need help in apprehending them. I'm all for lending a helping hand, especially if it saves us a life or twenty.

[Laughing, Elita nods.]

I'll do that. Give me a little bit and I'll be over.

[She's already started walking and will transform at the first convenient moment. After that it won't take her too long.]

[Cody is waiting for her by his desk. This giant package has been sort of dropped off right beside it, obscuring his view of the door. He should feel guilty that he looked at someone else's gift without asking first, but curiosity has always been a weak point for Cody.

In the meantime, he sits backs and wonders what sort of gift he has. He hopes it's something nice, he could use something nice right now.]

With all due respect sir, I like getting involved in things. I want to help where I can, and I don't mind if things get a little messy. There were a log of things back home that I dealt with all the time...

I hope you didn't have to move this here, or if you did, you had help.

[Elita looks from package to small human boy as she comes in, eyeing it with an arch look. It a respectable size even for her, so how Cody could have moved it...]

[Putting off looking at her own 'present' for the moment, Elita comes up to the desk, putting Cody's on his desk with.]

Nah, it just kind of turned up here.

[Cody shrugs and immediately makes a beeline for his own present. He picks up the box and immediately notes how light it is. He's not sure what he expected, but it wasn't what was inside. A small, sad smile spreads across his face as he picks up the picture of his family. It's a strange feeling to feel both happiness and sadness at the same time.

This is a good gift, he's glad to have it.]

Probably for the best. This isn't particularly light...

[She mostly shifts it to see, and is stll keeping an optic on Cody. His reaction has her abandoning her box for the moment and squat down beside him.]

They're important, aren't they?

[Cody had expected her to check out her own box immediately, so he's startled when she speaks to him instead.]

Oh... yeah. They're my family.

[He points to the older man, then to each of his siblings.]

This is my dad, and this is Dani, Graham, and Kade.

...

I'm really glad I have this.

[She smiles at that - she'd suspected it, and after a moment she briefly rests her hand on top of his head.]

You'll hopefully get to go home soon.

... 'Dad', that means he's one of the ones who made you, right?

[While she does have a concept of family, it takes a shade longer to find what she knows about humans and connect that word where it belongs; it hasn't come up when she's talked to Kay, and she's never spent time on Earth.]

[The touch is also unexpected, but not unwelcome. Cody smiles faintly and gently touches Elita's hand with his own. He's glad for whatever comfort he can get.]

Yeah, that's what Dads usually are. Dads protect and help their kids grow up until we become adults, then we have to go our own way in the world. A lot of families have Moms too, but ours doesn't. I guess you can say she hasn't been around in a while.

Families are important to us, that's just how we humans are I guess.

We've got families, people who are really important to us, but not precisely something like... ah, parents. Mentors, more like. Cybertronians don't need quite the same sort of guarding and guiding even when newly sparked.

[Elita smiles and nods at the picture. Not to say they don't need no guidance or some assistance or even guarding sometimes, but there's a vast difference between a human baby and a newly sparked cybertronian.]

What about the others?

[She reaches out with a hand, but don't quite touch the picture, indicating the others Cody had named.]

I know that there are a lot of different ways someone can have a family. It's nice that Cybertronians have them, I guess it just shows that we're not so different after all.

[Which is comforting in a lot of ways.]

Kade is probably one of the biggest hot-shots in my town. It's funny because he's also the local fireman. He's good at what he does, but I think he pays way too much attention to himself. He's partners with Heatwave.

Dani here, she's one of the best pilots I know. She's very, uh, aggressive sometimes, and can sometimes pushes harder than she should, but she always means well. It's almost funny that she's partners with Blades.

Oh, and this is Graham, he's really smart and quiet. He's an engineer, and really, really good at it! Boulder is his partner, and they got along really well once Graham got over that Boulder was an alien.

And I forgot to mention that Chase was partners with my dad, they got along right from the beginning.

Despite a lot of differences, we are probably pretty similar.

[Nodding, Elita smiles as she listens to Cody's recounting, frowning thoughtfully.]

So you did know cybertronians existed before you came here, then. [Those names were sort of a givaway.]

And what about you, then? Ended up with anyone?

Mmm not really. All of them are my friends, but I guess I don't really need a partner. I'm not a rescue worker after all.

[Having his own rescue partner would be so cool, but it doesn't change the fact that Cody is, like, 11.]

It'd nice if I had one... though I think Prowl comes pretty close.

[Yes, he said Prowl.]

Hmm, point. They're working together in their functions... jobs, in your home?

[That seemed to be the most logical reason for it, and yes, she has at least picked up on the fact that Cody is probably too young to work properly.]

Prowl... [Elita can't help a small chuckle.] He's warmed up to you? [She has no preconcieved notions about his capabilities, but she's easily noticed that the Prowl here is quite... ahem, up-tight.]

[At least you're being respectful about it.] I wouldn't wish a huge workload on anyone, kid. I'm just sayin' you can help out without overworking yourself. I'm hearin' Miko's doin' this entire voting and Overseer business mostly by herself, and that ain't gonna fly.

Optimus Prime told the Rescue Bots that their job was to help us and to learn about Earth culture. Heatwave's a firetruck, Blades is a helicopter, Boulder's a bulldozer, and Chase is a police truck.

[Wow sorry that he's talking so much Elita, but it's been a while since he's been able to talk about them.]

Prowl's alright. He treats me pretty well anyway.

I bet I can make him smile someday.

[Oh, don't worry about it, Cody. Elita listens with a slight tilt to her helm and her optics' glow soft.]

With those kind of altmodes, and the professions I understand they go with, helping would certainly be possible. Your... siblings? work those professions?

[Then she chuckles.]

Maybe you will. Remember to take breaks, though. I doubt I or he have a complete understanding how far human constitution can reach, and you're young still aren't you?

Yeah, that's why they're partners. I think they all work pretty well together. After they all got used to working with aliens.

[He's not just talking about his family either, the bots also had to learn how to deal with the humans.]

He sort of stopped pushing me too hard the first time I passed out because of lack of sleep.

Yes, I can imagine that wasn't the easiest, no matter if you find out you like each other and work well. I've noticed we can be rather similar in some things, which just makes the differences all the more glaring.

Hm, good. But that it happened at all is a bit unfortunate, not that I'd know either when to have you stop.

[She shakes her helm and stands up.]

I'm glad your present made you happy, even if it's a bit melancholy as well, given the situation.
