You can come in here, if you want. Probably fits you better, it's like having my own castle here....
Oh, so it's not a Ratchet from your world?
[Korra really looks sympathetic. That sounds rather familiar to her.]
Sorry. I know the feeling. I just failed my mission before waking up here, too.
[Korra hesitates, but continues. It sounded like Blurr had just confessed a lot to her. Where to start?]
I was born as the, um, the Avatar. The latest in what's sort of a long line of peacekeepers in my world. I came to train in Republic City, but it's more messed up than I thought. Those who can't bend--well, a lot of them are feeling oppressed and joining the Equalist movement and their leader Amon to lead a pretty crazy revolution. But then one of the city's councilmen, Tarrlok, he--well, he kinda snapped and began arresting innocent people just because they couldn't bend, thinking all of them had Equalist ties. I tried to stop him...but couldn't, and those people were arrested anyway, along with my friends.
[Korra has her arms folded, her hands starting to bite into her arms in between the cuts.]
I went to see Tarrlok again, to-- ['intimidate me as well', Tarrlok had essentially said in that low, knowing voice] --to make him free those people and my friends. He tried to get me back on his side--we'd worked together before, and that didn't end well either, not for me anyway--and I told him no, and then we...we stopped talking and just started fighting. Tarrlok really was a better waterbender than I thought.
[Korra shuddered, and growled.]
But I almost had him! I-- ['I almost killed him without giving him a chance to surrender']
--but he was a bloodbender, and I had no idea, and I--I have no defense against bloodbending. [A powerful waterbender is able to resist bloodbending, Katara was able to--but then again, Katara had resisted it on a full moon. How the hell could Tarrlok bloodbend without a full moon?]
[Korra blinked. She wearily said.]
Bloodbending is a very powerful--and forbidden--form of waterbending. The human body has a lot of water inside, in our blood...so, if a waterbender's strong enough [and usually with a full moon] he or she can control the blood inside of someone. Make them submit and just...take control of the whole body.
[Korra rubbed the back of her neck.]
I was useless, his bloodbending kept me useless. Then Tarrlok stuffed me into the back of his satomobile, and drove away. He told me I'd never see Republic City again.
[Korra spread her arms out, had them slap against her sides.]
Then I woke up here. I don't know if Tarrlok had anything to do with this, but I doubt it; I don't think even he could.... But this is pretty much what he wanted....
[Korra began to count on her fingers.]
So, I'm apparently out of the picture, and I didn't get to tell anyone Tarrlok's a bloodbender and how off his rocker he really is, and he'll still be on that council calling all the shots. And I couldn't bust those people or my friends out of jail. And this'll probably just gain Amon more followers, and Tarrlok is going to just push harder, and they're just going to keep escalating and escalating until Republic City does break out into a war while I'm stuck here--!
[Korra literally breathed fire. Bad habit she's getting into. She takes a breath, no fire, then rubs a weary hand down her face.]
...So, um, you mentioned Slipstream? That I need to be careful around her? Funny, I think she was sorta saying the same thing in a roundabout way.... But what does being a Decepticon have to do with anything?
Re: [Video] Thank youuu! And thankfully the weekend's there.
[Korra levitates it back to her quarters.]
