I'm certain waiting until the last moment possible is not particularly helpful.

The option I was given was to only kill them. You might be able to understand why I had to refuse.

Would you not have tried every other option to help them?

This is a last recourse. Surely you see the logic in that.

I already made the offer to have scientists observe those unmarked, just to be safe. You cannot accuse me of "what-ifs" if the transgression has not passed; that is not logical in itself.

The logic I see is that they are viewed as unwanted pests. Perhaps we who are marked are not so different.
