[Video][Unlocked][BIG NEWS]
[The backdrop is definitely the organized interior of the Police Headquarters. McCrane, however, is standing in the open doorway, and the sound of a high-speed racecar can just be heard zooming away.]
This is McCrane, of the Brave Police. I am alive again, for those I have not had the chance to get in touch with yet.
[There were a few, and he felt badly. Especially since he was still coming to terms with having died.]
Blurr and I have encountered a Priority One situation. Overlord has...
[How can he explain this?]
...has been released by Megatronus Prime. Please exercise caution if you are outdoors. We will be attempting to rectify the situation.
[They already were, as Blurr was racing off to keep an eye on Overlord and talk to Megatronus while he made this announcement.]
We have also apprehended the murder suspect Pharma. Law Committee, I am awaiting further instructions on what course of action to take.
((OOC NOTE: REPLIES WILL BE FROM BOTH MCCRANE AND BLURR.))

audio;
[And because he wouldn't be able to stop Overlord.]
Go where? Isn't there nothing but badlands, away from here?
Yes. I don't trust them enough to agree... not without hearing their terms. All terms.
audio;
Her?
[He doesn't, sadly, know much about the world outside of the badlands besides what Fortress Maximus had told him. However, that is enough to answer this.]
Some have returned from other places that are not the badlands. This planet is large. Larger than Earth, from what information I have gathered.
[If work here weren't so pressing, he wouldn't mind the chance to explore.]
That makes me feel better, Kagerou. Thank you.
audio;
[For reasons he doesn't really understand. But hey, a friend is a friend.]
'Larger than Earth' has no meaning to me. All I saw was... that city.
[His sense of time is off, his sense of scale is limited... one day that will change. Today is apparently not that day.]
Why are you thanking... It makes you feel better?
audio;
[That actually reveals several things to him--since he's talking to Kay elsewhere, it now makes sense why she has concern for the well-being of the Brave Police. He...smiles a bit, even if that won't be seen through the audio, because it's good to see Kagerou making a friend like her.]
Of course. [He should have considered that.] I suppose the best comparison that I could make would be...that this planet is likely several thousand times larger than the expanse of the haven. It would be easy to get lost.
[It's a guess. It might only be several hundred times larger, but he doesn't know.]
It does. You are one of the people that I want to be safe, Kagerou. Knowing that you're taking precautions makes me worry less.
[Don't believe him. He worries about everything anyway.]
audio;
[Now that it's been mentioned, it seems very strange just to stay in one place like this. Not that it's a small area, or anything like that, but wow.]
[It boggles his mind.]
You. Wanting me to be safe.
[He shakes his head -- it can't be seen, of course, but the gesture is there, all the same.]
It's so strange to hear, even now, that one of the other Brave Police cares if I live or die.
[Other than the obvious member, of course.]
audio;
There are too few of us here who were built on Earth. I know we have talked previously about what happened, and I know I have not always been the bearer of good news...
[He trails off. He still feels badly about that time you looked like Shadowmaru, even if it was not his fault.]
...but there are still memories we share. Not many here can say that.
[It is a bond that all Brave Police have...at least here, in this unfamiliar world. McCrane would rather foster cooperation, regardless.]
audio;
[Maybe he could ask Perceptor -- he's smart. He could do it. And he's trustworthy...]
I don't like to think about what happened. It feels... there's a bad feeling that goes with it. It's over now.
Nothing more than a memory.
[Which is pretty much his way of saying, "It's in the past let's not talk about it anymore 'kay?"]
There is a difference, though. I'm... not one of you. Not technically.
I don't mean to say that I don't believe you -- I do. You've all been decent to me. [Even Gunmax. Kind of.] But there's a gap that can't be bridged.
audio;
[And this? This 'bad feeling' Kagerou is referring to? Boy, does he get that.]
Emotions are very difficult to learn to understand. I'd rather we not have to deal with them, but...
...I agree. Let us leave the past as it is.
[Since they can't do anything about it, either way.]
I think you are your own individual, Kagerou. There may be this gap, and this gap may always exist, but it does not mean we cannot be friends, or watch out for each other.
[Especially since you live directly over his workplace.]
audio;
[So much faith in his friends.]
[He pauses.]
You would rather not have emotions? Why? Everyone says that's... what means I'm alive.
[And that's important.]
I didn't really mean it that way, either. It's more... I don't know if I can ever be truly part of your team. Because of that.
audio;
[Having faith is good! And having someone who can get them out there and get them exploring so they have other options is good, too.]
Hm.
[That's not an easy question to answer, though.]
I understand that, and I understand why we have them, and why they're useful. [He went through what he did with Seia to learn those lessons, and he believed in them very strongly.] But I don't like it when they get in the way of a mission, or when they make it hard to think.
[He'd never be fully comfortable with them, even if friendship and companionship were not things he'd be able to live without.]
[There's silence for a long time, on that last bit.]
Do you want to be?
[Because that is what is important.]
audio;
[He makes a quiet sound -- an understanding sound.]
I don't know if I can agree that they get in the way. I... saw the world for the first time, because I felt afraid for my life. That girl lived... because Shadowmaru and I understood each others' feelings.
... I feel strongly for him. And I can't imagine not feeling that way.
[A pause on his end as well.]
I want to feel as if I have a place somewhere. A purpose. To... live to my heart's content.
audio;
[He probably should meet everyone, anyhow, as a ranking officer of the Law Enforcement.]
I can't deny that emotions can be...useful. Or pleasant. If it weren't for Seia, however...
[He trails off. If it weren't for her, he'd have rather died than experience them.]
No. Nevermind. I understand. How you feel for Shadowmaru...that is important.
[He misses her. A lot. And that is what prompts him to say what he says next.]
You have a place with us, any time you want one...but...
You don't have to be limited by that.
You can keep exploring to find your place, and we'll still be here if you want to come back.
audio;
[And maybe he kind of hero-worships the Autobot a little bit.]
Seia? Who is that?
[She wasn't involved in the whole mess. And it's a name he's never heard before.]
I wouldn't want to lose those feelings. I wouldn't be who I am if I didn't feel for him, as I do. You wouldn't be yourself, either, if you felt nothing.
[Then, he falls silent.]
...
I don't know if I fit here, either. Here, with these living robots. I'm not like them. I'm not like any of you.
Maybe I don't have a place at all.
audio;
It does not stop me from missing who I've left behind, though. Seia...
[...]
Seia is one such friend.
[The friend.]
You are right, Kagerou. I would be less, if I did not feel. [Remembering Seia just makes that all the more clear.]
But I do not think you are right about not having a place. Gunmax, Drill Boy, and I...we were programmed to do what we now do. You were programmed to do something different.
You can teach and test fighting skills, can't you?
audio;
[Yep. He knows what that's like. In more ways than one.]
I don't know many things. But... this... I do know something about.
[It's actually said a little wryly. For once.]
Maybe that's why I can't find a place with any of you. We were never meant to do the same thing.
Yes. A little.
audio;
Who I wanted to be.
[It is not the same as Shadowmaru, but McCrane doesn't hesitate to share this with Kagerou, because he knows its close enough that Kagerou will know what he means. It hasn't been easy to share with anybody else. Anyone who doesn't already know about Seia, at least.]
I think you have more skills than you give yourself credit for, Kagerou.
If you feel differently, however, then I think it might be that. You and Shadowmaru were comfortable around each other because you had similar programming, and similar goals.
You might be able to help us, here, without doing the same thing that we do. [Especially if you can train others in how to defend themselves, or help them practice.]
audio;
[No, it's not the same. But far be it from him to say anyone's connection to someone is less important.]
[Unless it's Gunmax and he's being a butt -- then he'll say whatever he wants.]
Mm.
I can't speak for his goals. It's not my place to speak for him. But... yes. I do know him. His style. His... frame.
Yes, I know... much about him. So I am comfortable with him.
I don't know how I could help.
audio;
[Just to see her again...yes.]
You could help others learn to fight, or help them refine their skills.
audio;
[He would do anything to see Shadowmaru. Do the others feel the same, then?]
That implies there are robots here who are less skilled than I am. I don't think that's true.
audio;
And to do that...I think we're going to need cooperation from the Firstforged, instead of conflict. [You've given him a lot of good ideas in this conversation--he intends to act upon them.] I think I need to talk to Prima, when I have a moment.
[Because if their keepers kept interfering in their lives, then their keepers weren't focusing on the real problem--the Lambda.]
I think you'd still have moves that none of them have seen. It might be worth a try.
[He doesn't know, but he wants to help.]
audio;
[He doesn't think so. And his tone of voice implies that heavily.]
A prototype having knowledge beings... thousands of years old don't?
I don't think so. It's kind of you to say, but I know what I am. And I know what they are. They surpass me, greatly.
audio;
[He doesn't know about you, but he has no idea how to cross dimensions.]
I...understand.
I do believe there is a place for you, though.
audio;
[Yep. He's lost on that one, too.]
I wish I were that certain.
... if Shadowmaru were here...
audio;
But...
You have made good friends, it sounds like.
Maybe one of them can help you figure out what you want to do?
[It won't be the same as Shadowmaru, but it will still be good, he thinks.]
audio;
[There's... something of an edge to his voice, then, as a result.]
They. Might.
They might. If... I ask.
