[There’s a low, frustrated sigh and for a long moment, that’s all there is. Then, someone starts speaking.]

So. I’m dragged to some other Cybertron, go through hours of paperwork, and get dumped on the street. Then I drop off the face of that Cybertron onto a space station in the middle of nowhere and get dumped in a pile of junk that I have to crawl out of.

Now I drop off the face of the station and wind up here with someone in a hood telling me I’m on Cybertron. Again. Not even the same Cybertron, some other Cybertron.

I was in the middle of something! Very important things! [Bartending and best friend things!]

If I had the time, I'd do so, but unfortunately I don't. [Not to mention that there aren't any medics around here who he'd trust to help him with maintenance. ]

And yes, they did, which is a bit of a problem given the lack of it around here. I think I've got a design, but I'm ... [A weary sigh] Placing this without proper testing could lead to some very bad outcomes, and I'd rather not explode a friend if I can prevent it.

Sounds like every medic I've ever met. [You have his sympathy. On both fronts, in fact.]

Huh. I've got some experience with upgrades. Could double-check the design if you want. Fresh set of optics and all. And it's better than me storming around complaining uselessly about the things I was in the middle of on the station. [Besides, the project has piqued his curiosity. Putting Cybertronian mechanisms into man-made machines is something he hasn't done before.]

[ A surprised blink. ]

Ah, well... I wouldn't say no, I suppose. Are you a medic, an engineer or... something else? [ He figures that since this mech offered, he's got some skill, though. ]

Medic, by way of the arenas in Axiom Nexus. Mostly specialized in designing and installing unusual upgrades, and quick repairs in combat. If you need my credentials...

[He already has files packed in case of something like that; after his own Ratchet disbelieved him it seemed prudent.]

Never heard of Axiom Nexus, but if you've got credentials, I wouldn't mind seeing them... [ He'll save a true decision for after he's seen this mech work, but until then, paperwork can't really hurt his claims. ]

Granted, I also wouldn't mind having your name. [ A bit of a smirk. ] I'm Ratchet.

Transmitting it now. Included a few blueprints since the repair logs get dense and boring. [Besides, it can't hurt his cred to have taken plans from an Armada Starscream and re-tool his minicon link to function in an Animated Megatron. Or the repairs to a triple-changer, for that matter.]

[He chuckles for a moment.] Ahh, I should have guessed. I'm Barricade.

Received... [Ratchet glances at the blueprints and hums again, pleased. ] I'll look these over in more detail later, but at a glance, they're quite interesting. You've got some skill, Barricade.

Although I admit to being confused as to why you should have guessed at my name. Am I really that famous?

More pleased t'hear that than you might think. Not often I hear that I've got skills for medical work anymore. [Then again, you couldn't swing a tire flail on Sacrosanct without hitting a medic or engineer.]

As for your name... well. I've met Ratchets from several dimensions, and not one of them has been less than the premiere medic of either faction in their dimension.

[ Short and sweet. Partially because that's just how Ratchet rolls, and partially so that he won't give away how much his face is heating. He hasn't heard compliments like this in... a long time. He knows he's good, but his team's been together for so long that they all just take it for granted. Good thing this is voice only, yes? ]

And, ah... Hah. There could be worse interdimensional reputations, I suppose.

[As for what Barricade said about Ratchets... well, it's the truth for once. Nevermind that his own life was saved by a Ratchet once, one that he respected over other medics he'd met. It's not like he'd toss around that sort of thing without reason.]

Certainly could be. Ought t'give you a bit of respect from most Autobots, at least, regardless of what dimension you're from personally. Lot easier to deal with compliant patients.

[ Ratchet waves a hand. ] Just the truth.

[ A snort. ]

That'll be the day. I get respect from Autobots sometimes, but compliance? Pff. Not unless I weld them to the bed.

Welding them down, really? Mm, can't say I've tried that... Usually just gotta threaten mine with extra injuries or disabling their motor function. Folks hate being completely limp while they're fixed, lemme tell you.

Hah. Yes, I'm sure those methods would work too. In a battle situation, though, welding's just faster and more efficient. [grumble] Blasted soldiers have an obsession with getting back out into the field even if they're just about falling apart.

Antsy Decepticons ain't much better, whether they're on the battlefield or not. Can't really say anything about the soldiers though, seeing as I was one of those kind. Rather be anywhere but being fixed.

Decepticons? Really? [ He doesn't sound outright hostile about this, although he is somewhat on edge. Knock Out's been good thus far, but Starscream... not so much. ]

Really. Did some work on Autobots too, though, just not mine. But things've changed lately. [Not that he wouldn't keep working on any Cybertronian that needed it... besides his own Autobots.]

Right... [ Ratchet nods and decides that he'll give this mech a chance. He seems a decent sort. ] Well, regardless of what you might have done in the past, I look forward to working with you here.

[It's complicated, really. And strongly related to Ratchet's version of Soundwave, not that Barricade knows it yet.] And I look forward to working with you as well.

[...Ugh, how does one try to be. Helpful, verbally. He should probably let McCrane or Deckerd worry about it, but.]

Yo, Ratchet. Take a break or something. Don't want you to wear yourself out, understand?

And here I thought you'd be itching to get off that berth, Gunmax. [ You can't see the raised eyebrow, but it's audible. ]

At your expense? C'mon! I don't think Deckerd or McCrane would be too terribly pleased with me.

Pushing ourselves to ridiculous levels seems to be a bit of a bad habit around here, isn't it. Heh. Just take your own advice sometime. I can't exactly pick you up like this if you fall down, Doctor.

Well. I've stayed up longer doing more stressful things previous to this, for less important reasons. Like I said, I'll rest when I'm ready to. I wouldn't be able to recharge with this buzzing through my processor, anyway.

[ Although he really should refuel more regularly. Woops. He really is a hypocrite when it comes to self care. ]
