[Video][A friend lost and a strange light Shining]
[McCrane is on a late patrol, in the junk-yard at night. With the horrors of the Glyphless catastrophe over and all of the paperwork filed, he has been searching for two things: One, the materials to build a soccer-goal, and two...]
Has anyone seen Gunmax?
[He's worried. He's always worried, of course, but now he looks more worried than usual. He turns, and for a moment the camera catches a small ball of light hovering over a silver-wrapped box with a gold bow. Curious, McCrane approaches, and the light moves out of the video, as does the box.]
I am also wondering about Barricade, as he has been gone for several weeks now. I don't know if keeping track of the populace is part of our Law Enforcement duties, but...it should be done. [McCrane reaches down, and suddenly the silver box pops back into view while he holds it. It's still remarkably well-lit for this time of night, but that may be because there's that small ball of light, shining on it again.]
And now it looks like I'll have to add Whirl onto the list, too. [He fingers the nametag, turning it toward the camera. Today was strange enough, but it looked as if it was going to get stranger.]
Is anyone else encountering unusual lights?
[It reminded him of Drill Boy's mythical fairy.]

voice;
It sounds like the same one.
voice;
[He's at a loss, and so the first thing that comes to his head might not be the most sensible thing to say.]
There are no roads here.
voice;
I don't think that matters to whoever sent this.
voice;
[It makes so little sense.]
It makes me worried about his gift, though.
voice;
[No one who's still here, anyway.] No one else could know.
Open it. If you're concerned.
voice;
Wrapping it as a gift...
[That takes a sadist.]
[Both hands raise in denial at the suggestion though.]
I cannot do that. It is his. Opening it would be improper.
I wonder if it could be scanned, though...
voice;
[Which is as much of an "I trust you" as it's going to get.]
... Do you want me to scan it?
voice;
Do you think you could do that before he gets here?
It would solve this dilemma.
voice;
[Motorcycles, psh. He's a bird.]
Where should I go?
voice;
Will this work?
voice;
I'm on my way.
ACTION
ACTION
ACTION
You are fast.
[He's impressed.]
ACTION
Not as fast as a jet. But flying has advantages.
[He holds out a hand.]
I'll look at it now, if you like.
ACTION
[He holds out the box, closing the last of the distance.] I don't know what could be this small that would be a problem, but that might be what makes it dangerous.
ACTION
I don't know enough about explosives to answer that.
[So, instead, he just scans the thing.]
... there is nothing electronic in here. Or metallic.
ACTION
It is still possible it could be dangerous...
[Having the decapitated head of his former partner would not do Gunmax any good, for instance.]
But I'm beginning to think it isn't.
[It's the wrong size, for instance.]
Thank you for trying, Kagerou.
ACTION -- A HEAD SJDKS:D MCCRANE WHAT.
[It seems like a perfectly rational thing to do, to him. Since it seems like a problem... solve it with a pair of scissors.]
... Or I could try scanning for another substance. But I don't know if my systems could pick anything up.
[He was just the prototype, after all.]
ACTION -- IT COULD HAPPEN THEY'RE PROBABLY PROGRAMMED FOR FORENSICS RIGHT?
...
Try scanning for anything...organic.
If it turns up negative, I will be satisfied.
[Prototype or not, it'll make him feel better.]
ACTION --THAT'S WEIRD EVEN FOR J-DECKER, MCCRANE.
[He lifts the box again, peering at it. He shakes it a little.]
If it were alive, why would it be sealed so well?
[Regardless... he tries. Once more, the scanner starts flashing red. He scowls, trying to coax more information out of the readings.]
I don't sense anything living... I don't think I can tell you more than that.
ACTION --LOOK SOMEBODY GOT A THUMB OR SOMETHING IN A BOX
Just...in case.
[He doesn't feel comfortable talking about Gunmax's former partner, since it isn't his story to tell. However, the thing with the stoplight reminded him, and that time you were turned into Shadowmaru, so he...worries. He often worries.]
The rest will have to be decided by him, then.
I appreciate that you came out here to check, though, Kagerou.
[It's a little relieving that it isn't a bomb, and that at least it's not ALIVE.]
It was very helpful.
ACTION -- MCCRANE STOP YOU'RE CHANNELING RED ALERT
[He shakes it a few more times. Whatever's inside just keeps going thudthudthud.]
It's nothing.
[He hesitates.]
... I prefer bickering. I prefer it much more than I do... another burial.
ACTION -- SOMEBODY HAS TO WATCH OUT FOR EVERYONE
[When Kagerou brings it up...its a very good point. He hadn't wanted to face Gunmax with his present, knowing that he'd opened it...
But if it was dangerous, at all, it wasn't worth that risk.]
Do you think we could seal it back, carefully?
ACTION --oh my god i will never unsee this now. McCrane Alert.
It's only tape.
A small cut can easily be repaired again, with more of the same.
ACTION -- His little ear cranes start spinning...
ACTION -- and flashing?
ACTION -- Yup. And going 'woo woo woo'
ACTION -- mccrane whoever gave you that upgrade is a bad person
ACTION -- would sure make towing cars easier though
ACTION -- this is true
