Arright. Something is seriously wrong with Cybertron's chrono-dimensional anchor. I dunno who, or what, or even when, but this constant planet change is not right at all. I mean, first the whole planet resets like someone hit 'Undo All'... and now it does it again only there's apparently rusting First-Forged walking around!

Ugh. There's also a huge anomaly out here that shouldn't be sustainable without insane levels of energy but at this point I'm willing to just overlook it, given that we're probably dealing with some kind of rupture in fourth or possibly fifth dimensional barriers here.

[Have an extended sigh, as Wheeljack runs his hands over his faceplate.]

I coulda dealt with things as they were. I mean sure we had an overpopulation of three different factions on a Cybertron that seemed to want nothing more than to kill us but at least things were starting to get organized.

Now I'm back to piles of junk.

I am not robotic, nor am I organic. I store information in my mind, like humans would. On terms of technology, or at least compared to you, I am not very advanced at all. Do you believe in magic?

Yes I have it, thank you! It's funny, I do not believe in magic either. How I was created could be seen as magical to anyone who doesn't know any better. I believe that anything that seems unexplainable does have an explanation if you search hard enough. It'd be nice if magic did exist though, like in the fairytale books I once read. There's wonder in the unknown and the unexplored. If magic existed, would you try to explain it?

Good! Unfortunately I kept most of my other data references on external sources so what I'm got on hand with me is a pretty eclectic collection. I'll be glad to share them after you get finished with that first one.[No, 4 had to be more than just a construct for storing information. Reasoning, pursuit of facts, desire for escapism and wonder?]

Well, I for one would love to hear about how this creation came about. If it's possible, perhaps we can meet up in person? Which one of these 'temples' did you get assigned to? Hm. I know there's a point at which science - at least as far as we've defined it - cannot explain everything. I don't think I'd call what lay beyond that point magic, exactly. More like 'stuff we haven't figured out quite yet.' there is a thrill in discovery when we do manage to pin down one of those elusive theories or equations, though. Ah, but I'm rambling. If magic existed, yeah I'd like to be able to explain it. If I couldn't though? Well, sometimes you just gotta shrug and say that's just the way things are.

I suppose we can meet... I live in Liege's fortress. But I do not think that we will be able to communicate too well, as I am incapable of speech. It would be an interesting experience however, since I've only met two Cybertronians face-to-face so far. The Scientist made me and my twin for the purpose of discovery, and to gather information. My favourite thing to do is to find someone's story, and put it in chronological order. There's no greater joy for me than completing a story, especially a very complex one. Come to think of it, I believe my purpose is to gather old information, and not necessarily discover new ones. If that makes any sense.

That would explain the texting then. Well I'm not sure about your, uh, biology? construction? Whichever. I'm not sure about that but if it's possible I might be able to make it easier to communicate. It does, in a way. The word that's coming to mind is 'Archivist.' It sounds like whoever created you wanted someone who was interested in seeking out and then cataloging information. The ones who usually go to such lengths to preserve their history are the ones who often feel it's threatened. It sounds like you have quite the interesting story yourself, 4.

Thank you for your consideration, but I'm sure The Scientist designed my twin and I the way we are for a reason.

Oh Well that makes sense. We were indeed created for the sole purpose of gathering information on an extinct race. The Scientist knew that the human race was over, and therefore gave the 9 of us the task of preserving humanity. The others have their purposes, but mine and 3's is to remember human history and human accomplishments. Which makes me wonder what my purpose is now that I am no longer on earth.

[That's a troubling thought, one he hasn't really considered before. He can't exactly study his history if there aren't any books from his world can he? Did that mean that he's failing his purpose here?]

[He shrugs, and then remembers that 4 can't see that. He can understand, kinda, the desire to stay as the maker made you - but then this is the mech who's modified his own chassis so much it's practically unrecognizable compared to the original.]

If that's what you want then sure. The offer stands, if ya change your mind. So human's went extinct? Wow. Hard to imagine that. They were all over the planet last time I was on Earth. And so you guys ended up becoming the torch-bearers of human legacy for whoever comes next? That's an impressive task. Yet this scientist didn't pre-load any existing information. Wonder why? Well, just throwing this out there, maybe you can use what you learn here on Cybertron for comparison?
