[VIDEO] [Origin: Vector Prime's Temple] Let's do some merry-making!

[The bright countenance of the white flier some of you recognize as Wing appears on the vid comm, his face cheery.]

Greetings Vectorians and other fellow residents of Haven!

I'd like to extend an open invitation to a social gathering. I know many of us at Vector Prime's tower have not had much chance to get to know each other, and we have recent additions in the form of Drift and any new members joining us from the recent group of Refugees. [Wing would love to meet you, come and say Hi!] The Red Rust virus has also been cured which is even more cause for thanks. [Kudos to Pharma.]

So please come join us in celebration! [He's practically beaming here. Uhh, sorry if you have spots in your eyes now.]

All peaceful participants are welcome, you need not be one of Vector's Marked to attend. [Non-peaceful participants might run the risk of finding themselves discovering how far down it is to the force field at the bottom of the gorge in which the temple is located. Just sayin'. Crash at your own risk.]

[Now he looks serious, like he's getting down to the real nitty-gritty.]

Okay. As you can imagine, our sources of entertainment here are limited. If you have any particular talents for performance you'd like to grace us with or other resources--like music or games--that could aid us then such contributions would be quite welcome! Some refreshments will be served.

Ah, let's see, what else... RSVP is not required but encouraged, especially if you plan to bring any contribution of food, beverage or entertainment. Hmm, for those who aren't consumers of energon, please let me know your needs/preferences, and hopefully we can work together to see them met?

To be fair, Wing seemed to be in a constant state of 'flirt'.

She shrugs, nestling down in her seat. He's definitely a smooth ride.

"Honestly he seems. Like he's just like that. Some people have natural charisma and can't turn it off."

A hand reaches out and pats his dashboard comfortingly.

"Yeah? How so exactly?"

The movement on the seat is strange but, wells Drift is sort of unused to anyone coming to him for comfort.

His engine gives a sort of amused rumble. "That's Wing. I don't think he can turn it off.". And there's a wistful note in Drift's voice: he wouldn't want Wing to.

"Long story. But he died saving me and his city from my mistake.".

"Yeah. Robot crush. How does that work for you guys anyways? Or is this just manly admiration?"

She becomes vaguely aware that her voice modulator must make her sound like she knows what she's talking about.

"Died? He seems pretty lively to me. Guy could charm his way up one wall and down the other. If you uh. Don't want to talk about it, I understand."

She pauses... and finally takes off her helmet with a soft click. She'd never actually spoken to Drift without hiding her face and her voice.

"I know how mistakes can be."

The engine races, wheels suddenly slipping. So much for that smooth comfortable ride, Vandal.

"I do not have a crush on Wing.". It's not lying. It's plausible deniability.

"It's not that. I betrayed his city, could have killed everyone there." Another rumble. "I don't know how or why he forgave me, or if I eve deserve it."

Well that was..... "Vandal?"

It jars her and she moves to brace herself.

"Whoa, okay okay. Sheesh. Someone's sensitive."

She can't help but sound just a tiny bit amused.

"Well, maybe he realized that everyone deserves a second chance."

Though she's not really sure she believes that when she says it. Unlike him, she did kill an entire population. And there's no charming, sword-toting robot to forgive her for it.

She scrubs a hand through her red hair.

"Yeah?"

"I am not sensitive. It's just...I don't know.". Like...anything. About this stuff.

"it's one thing to forgive someone. Something else to, you know, do more than that.".

Drift would argue that in a way, the forgiving white robot made things worse, when you didn't feel that you had earned it.

So. You're not a tiny robot. Weird. "Why the suit? You don't need to hide from me.".

"Mmmm... what do you mean do more than that?"

She shifts, getting comfortable again once things even out.

"I... it's a long story. I know. It's just been a rough couple of weeks for me."

Vandal. It's generally not a great idea to tease your ride. Drift can't help the way his engine races. He controls the speed immediately, but the sound is unmistakeable.

"Just, more than that. Someone important to you, someone to whom you o a debt you can never repay."

That's all. You buy that, right?

"Well, you're safe here. And if you don't feel that's way, let me know."

She's no expert in Cybertronian social cues, but she does hear that and it draws a smirk to her lips.

She's about to make a comment on 'other ways to repay debts', but what follows stops her.

Safe.

It's weird having someone talk to her like that. In a comforting way. And for some reason it pings against her and she shuts up, feeling a knot form in her stomach and a lump in her throat.

"Thanks," Is all she can manage, voice cracking.

Drift knows enough about humans to recognize a smirk when he sees one. However, he has no retort.

"...did I say something wrong?"

"No. Not at all," She gives a soft snort.

"Just not used to being uh..." What's a good word for it?

"You're just really nice. I appreciate it."

A lot of mechs would disagree, strenuously, on the 'nice'.

"I just know what it's like not to feel safe." In the gutters, day after day, when you couldn't even tell day from night, always on edge, waiting for the next disaster.

Of all the times to suddenly want to start crying.

Because as long as she's not thinking about her own weakness it's been okay. Being around people three times your size or more and made out of metal has a certain way of making you feel helpless if you let it sink in.

She leans back in her seat and draws her knees up to her chest, tightening her resolve.

"Thanks, though. I mean it. It's... a pretty underrated feeling."

"Not to those who have felt it." He knows. He won't forget.

"Look. I don't know what happened, how you got hurt. But you're here now and I want to help."

She covers her mouth with one gloved hand.

Christ he's just. He's like someone out of a book. White knight. Except he's a fucking robot car.

"God, Drift. Just. Shhh. You're embarrassing, seriously. Just drive, you dork."

It's her odd way of saying thanks. She just can't really fathom someone that nice, and it makes her eyes and face burn.

Drift doesn't get her reaction. Is that good? Is that bad?

"Just...remember that, all right?"

But she is distressed, so he doesn't want to push it. "So, what are you looking forward to at this party?" That was safe, right?

God she doesn't deserve someone like this as a friend. She suddenly feels vaguely disgusted with herself.

"Yeah, yeah. It works both ways..."

She squirms faintly in the seat, staring out the window.

"Drinking until I can't feel feelings anymore."

Well. That's a fair answer.

"Meeting more of you cybertronians, too." Nice recovery.

"I'll remember that." The smile, he hopes carries in his voice.

"You know that doesn't work for very long." He's not questioning her right to do it, though.

"You will. You'll like Wing, too."

"Yeah. I know," She admits, worn down by his blinding patience. It's sad that she can't remember the last time someone treated her so well.

Tyler maybe, but everything he was had turned out to be a lie. Maybe she did trust too easily, but that stupid childish part of her has absolute faith in these robots.

"I've met Wing. He's nice. Kind of intimidating, though. I mean not in a bad way. He's just very..."

She searches for a good word.

"Charismatic."

"Just don't do anything that's going to get Ratchet involved." He has no right to judge anyone for their past or how they cope with it. But a little common sense couldn't hurt. "And if anyone messes with you, let me know."

"Don't let the charm fool you. He can be hard when he needs to be."

"I won't I promise," She's not that stupid, "Come on, Drift. I'm twenty-seven, and you're not a babysitter. But I appreciate it."

It's nice all the same to know the giant robot samurai has her back. But she doesn't intend to write checks that he'd have to cash.

What he says next distracts her entirely though, and she snorts.

"That's what she said."

"Sorry. Just, you know, I know how it can go." Oh yes, he does.

..."What? Who's she?"

"It's- ah. Right. Robots."

How does she even explain this?

"It's a phrase people use to point out a possible souble-meaning of a statement that could carry possible sexual connotations."

Wow way to kill it. That sounded horrendously clinical.

"It was a joke."

Ohhhhh yeah.

"...I...but...what?" He thinks back over what he says. How did that have a...

Oh.

She probably sees the klik it hits him. "I-I didn't mean...it's not what you think!"

She stifles a laugh for the sake of her injuries and lets her lips curl up into a grin.

"Oh? Is it not?"

A bit more teasing couldn't hurt.
