[Video][Transmitting from the bar at Haven's Hub]

[Someone's been digging through the bar's storeroom looking for decorations for the dance when he comes across a little reminder. Well, not so little. He'd found it in the Junk Pile two months ago and had no idea what to do with it all. And once unpacked, it was more than he could haul back to his room much less have space for. So it'd been sitting, covered by on old tarp, forgotten in the bar's storeroom until now.]

[Wing waves into the video feed, looking, frankly, a little bit perplexed and perturbed.]

A lot of us received anonymous gifts quite a little while back. Mine was...quite large. And unfortunately, try as I might, I can't discern...what it even is.

[Wing holds up one of pieces of equipment which looks decidedly like an energy weapon to him, something he seems none too pleased about. He steps back to gesture behind him, to where a bunch of similar equipment is strewn about one corner of the room.]

Anyone want to help me sort out what all this stuff is? I'm at a loss.

[And one might notice, if one paid particular attention or just had a habit of staring at Wing's frame in general, that something has definitely changed since his last broadcast in December. His lines seem sleeker and the proportions in his chassis do seem different.]

On an entirely different note, I'm also happy to announce--albeit a little belated--that those to which I offered flights or tours of Haven, I can now accommodate you.

[Judging by the way this brings a smile back to his face, he seems inordinately pleased by this. Someone finished his cockpit modification and can carry passengers!]

I like to think I've made progress. Still don't trust most tech, but it's the baby steps, right? [smirk] But you're not scrambling my atoms and transferring me from one spot to another like pure energy, so you got that going for you already.

Right. I'll look it over before we take off, if you don't mind. Just got to make sure. Nerves have been all but fried to dust the past few years, so I'm a little wary. But granted, I'll bring me a paper bag to heave or throw up in just in case things get too bad up there.

[sigh] It ain't a bowl of cherries. Not so easy. We still come across hostiles. Maybe one day I'll tell you about the Klingons and Romulans. Pretty sure you'll see we humans have had our fair share of war, if you've not heard it from someone else all ready. We're just hopin' to stop it from happening again.

Personally, as long as you ain't trying to kill or enslave us, I'm willin' to give you a shot. But, hey, like I said - not all of us welcome aliens with open arms. You try bein' warm and pleasant to a race of people who think emotions are a weakness and have the emotional range of a teaspoon.

Me? I think we put too much faith in all this new tech, that sometimes we forget it can backfire on us. One minute you're being transported to Risa for some well-earned rest under the nice tropical sun, and then you find half your re-arranged atoms floating somewhere in the stars and the rest of you a stub ready to be shipped off to a freakshow carnival. [snort] That's the least traumatic scenario, mind you.

[laughs] Well, you'd certainly be welcomed by many at Starfleet if you were in my universe. Like I said, sort of our job to search for new lives and make alliances, bring us all together under one peaceful galactic government. Though I'm not sure there'd be a ship to accommodate someone of your size, but Hell, you'd get a nice shiny badge. [He taps his science officer badge]

[And now just SIGH] Yeah. It's Goddamn sad, if you ask me. Sure, emotions can complicate and jeopardize things, depending on the circumstances, but emotions in general are not a bad thing. But you ask a Vulcan if you can hug them and he'd probably think you're asking if you can kick him in his green-blooded face.
