☄ [Video] :: Location - Alpha Trion's Quadrant: Farming Area
[In the background, one can hear the sound of Lea the rooster crowing. Ventus is just glad he's not trying to attack his feet. Besides, he's a little preoccupied with other things.]
Heh! Easy now!
[The boy laughs as fuzzy little chicks swarm about his feet. Nearby are the three hens he'd received from Christmas. Very carefully, Ventus tries to step around the peeping yellow and brown masses, and it's then that he looks towards his Link, noticing that it's on.
Blinking, he offers a sheepish smile.]

( video ) how did i miss this post kjsdlaksd adorable
[ Oh dear, baby chicks.. ]
How have you been doing, Ventus? I assume you're been busier than usual. [ It's the same for Saber, which is why she hasn't been in contact with him as she once was. She'd like to talk to him about current events, but she'll wait for him to confirm he has the time to talk first. ]
[Video] :D :D
[He grins.]
I've been doing okay! Glad that these little guys have their moms to watch them all the time, otherwise they'd really be a handful!
How about you, Saber? Everything all right?

Are the hens laying.. eggs, Ventus? [ Surely they're not only laying eggs with chicks in them? Saber can't help but get a slightly eager look in her eyes as she asks. ]
no subject
Huh? Oh, yeah...if you couldn't tell.
[He glances at the little fuzzballs running over his shoes.]
Or they did, anyway. They're all hatched now!
[This isn't a problem, right? He made sure no one touched those eggs!]

If you keep two hens separate from the rooster and the others, they will eventually start to lay eggs without chicks in them since the rooster is absent. These eggs can be eaten when cooked properly and are very nutritious. ..I recommend two hens so they can keep each other company. Also, two hens will provide quite a few eggs and quite often if they are looked after.
[ She narrows her eyes as she looks closely at the screen. ] When all of your eggs hatch and all of the chicks are mostly grown, I would consider keeping most of the hens separate from any roosters since you already have quite a large number. This way you can have more eggs made and then still have some chicks occasionally. [ A brief nod. ]

Uhh...
[He tries very hard to follow with what she's telling him, but he kind of misses the point. After all, isn't the reason for the eggs to get more chickens?]
...huh?
i almost died when i read this. just. orz! ahaha ventus.
Were you planning on raising endless chickens to simply eat the adults, then? [ She thinks about this. She didn't take Ventus for the type who would want to eat actual animals unless he was also raised with that sort of culture. ] If you eat the eggs without chicks in them, you aren't actually eating a chicken. Most farmers raise chickens to have these chickless eggs so they can be eaten. Of course, they may also breed chickens themselves so they can be eaten when older..
[ She tilted her head after a moment, unable to help but raise an eyebrow. ] Or were you just planning on raising an unlimited amount of chickens for.. some other reason..? ..[ A chicken army? ]
XD
...didn't know about all that.
[That's about as good a place as he can figure to start. And it's true. All this chicken business sure is complicated!]
.....I wasn't really...planning.

Ah, I see. That's acceptable, too. Now that I think about it, it is much to consider.. [ For someone like Saber who is used to organizing and planning, it's nothing, however.. she can't assume it's the same for everyone. ]
Even though the idea of a chicken army is endearing [ No, Saber, no. ] if you have too many more chickens than you do now, you will likely begin to feel they are a large source amount of work.

I didn't know that you could make them not have chicks in them though.

I do understand you wanted your flock to grow first, but it seems you will have quite a few chickens now. Separating into two groups would likely serve your personal goals and the needs of others better. [ The knight pauses and then shakes her head, giving a gentle smile. ]
You're right, people would be eager for eggs. This is quite a big responsibility you have, but you should still follow your heart for your decisions.

And...if you wanted to help out with what I need to do with them, I'd really appreciate it.

[ Saber may know a lot about it and had helped him set up their coop, but actually dealing with the chickens.. well.. But if he needs some help, she'll do her best. ]
A good idea might be to ask a FirstForged for a dedicated Acolyte to babysit them. After all, they are concerned about organics too, are the not?

[He blinks, then smiles a little, giving a nod.]
Hey, that's a good idea. I hadn't thought about that.

[ Saber nods. ]
Glad to be of assistance.
