I know I addressed the police force about the incident with Four once before but I have something else that I think is important to the entire situation.

[Having recorded the conversation with Frenzy, the therapist uploads it for their viewing pleasure.]

Considering the severity of the situation, at least in my opinion, I figured it was only right to include the Firstforged in this, thus my locking this post to them as well.

[McCrane has to stare for a moment, because this is basically the opposite of dealing with Prima. This is not someone who is willing to work for a compromise.]

A confession is admissable evidence. However--you are right. It is not grounds for punishment. It just means we have more to consider, and we will be bringing him in to consider it.

If we have no reason to keep him, he'll be released.
megatronicpolarity: (You do that.)

[Compromise isn't impossible with Megatronus - it's just not his starting position. One needs to maneuver him into an agreeable state of mind first, and Blurr has very much been working him in the opposite direction.]

Of course. I've said before that I don't expect complete inaction on your part. One day should be more than enough time to interrogate him. After that, I want Frenzy transferred into the custody of my Acolytes. I have questions of my own for him.
mccrane: (worried--stepping back)

[personal profile] mccrane 2013-03-11 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
[McCrane considers this for a moment, because its not a completely unreasonable request. There have been times when they needed to speak with the prisoners of other precincts, after all. However--acknowledging that would be acknowledging Megatronus as a valid precinct, which...he isn't.]

I will release him to your acolytes if we do not find strong evidence against him.

If we do, then he will face trial by our committee. Your acolytes would be welcome to visit, however.

[Even if Megatronus isn't willing to compromise--McCrane is going to try his best at it.]

McCrane, do you recall the outcome of my last disagreement with the police force's methods?

[You know, Overlord, and the armed Acolytes that wouldn't take no for an answer? He's still got plenty to throw around.]

The freedom to punish my own Marked for their transgressions is all I expect. I would prefer to avoid violence over such a small thing.
mccrane: (shotgun--camping crouch)

[personal profile] mccrane 2013-03-11 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
[There's a longer silence this time.]

I do.

[There's a rare slip in the tone of those words, for him. That was a failure. He does not like failure, and it makes his emotions harder to keep in check--especially without Seia here to help him balance them.]

You're threatening me. [He's actually a bit surprised at the realization.] When I spoke to Prima, I had been under the impression that we would have our own jurisdiction, provided we had representation from all Firstforged--yourself included. We did not have that when your Acolytes came.

Now, we do.

I am sorry, Megatronus, but I cannot recognize your authority over someone who is subject to our laws, not yours.
megatronicpolarity: (You do that.)

[Whatever amusement Megatronus found in McCrane until now has clearly vanished. His optics narrow - not quite with fury, but it would be difficult to fit more hatred into a single look.

He's not normally one to hold grudges. This conversation, however, won't be easily forgiven.]

I am not responsible for your false assumptions. Whatever you and Prima discussed, I agreed to no such terms.

My Marked are absolutely subject to my authority before any other.

I am sorry you've chosen the path of conflict. You won't win this one.

[And then he disconnects. There is nothing more to discuss, here.]

[Please excuse him while he quietly goes and sits at his desk to polish his rifle for a few hours while staring at a wall. He'll stop shaking eventually.

There's too much work to be done.]

[don't get too comfortable, McCrane. because it's only so long before there's a ping at his comms, along with a simple message.

'come outside'.]

[The ping startles him. Apart from speaking with 4 and waiting for Blurr's report, he'd expected to spend the afternoon in silence.

However, he does not hesitate to move when summoned. He's already angered one god today--he doesn't want to anger another.]

...

[He'll be looking for you.]

[Prima's standing outside, all but dwarfing the building as he waits. once McCrane steps outside, though, his focus is completely and totally on him.

he is utterly unreadable.

after a few moments, he turns, and gestures for McCrane to follow him. they're going for a walk.]

[This worries McCrane, and he hesitates for a moment.

However, the number of things that worry McCrane is too high to have a given name, and it has not stopped him before. He follows.]

Megatronus Prime...

He does not like to be wrong, does he.

I see that now.

[McCrane hasn't dealt with him before. Only his acolytes.]

Prima, I don't understand.

[Looking up, it he had to walk a little faster to keep up with the other's longer strides.]

We are supposed to be governing ourselves, aren't we?

[bear in mind, this is Prima taking his time in a slow walk. he looks back forwards, then up. instead of answering directly...]

Explain how this seems from your view. And if you can, explain Megatronus'.

[McCrane settles into the pace, trying to determine the point of the exercise. If he's being led like this...then he must have done something wrong.

Seeing what he did wrong, then, is the idea.]

...from my point of view.

[That isn't easy.]

We were alerted to a possible murder suspect. We were taking action to detain that suspect for questioning, but Megatronus wants to do the questioning as well.
It...interferes.

How can someone be tried fairly by two systems?

[He knows he has the second half of the request to fulfill, but he wants to know regardless.]

[only seeing another point of view, McCrane. one that may be intensely valuable.]

Perhaps they cannot.

[but aside from a tilt of his head and a meaningful look, he doesn't offer any insight on that question.]

[McCrane acknowledges that, and...it helps. It helps him to hear those words, and he continues.]

Megatronus...

[From his point of view. That is the hard part.]

...he has a stake in Frenzy's fate. He does not want to see it handled by those he finds incompetent.

[That was hard to say, and it had devastated McCrane to hear.]

[a nod.]

You have yet to prove yourself. Either as an individual, or as a whole, for the force you represent.
mccrane: (glare--I will step on you)

[personal profile] mccrane 2013-03-21 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I understand.

[He understands a lot more, at least.]

However, we need to be given the opportunity to prove ourselves. If he is interfering, now, we do not have that chance.

And.

Forgive me, Prima, but he has not proven himself either.

[He'd gotten McCrane's famous patience riled--which was impressive.]

[for that, Prima chuckles. not /at/ McCrane, but...]

From his perspective, he does not need to. This is far more his world than it is yours [and he holds up a hand to forestall interruption] despite your lack of choice in coming here. The fact remains that you are 'guests' in his domain, and you are the ones who must ultimately find a way to show yourselves worthy.
