Curious about the nature of committee going into effect. Seems to be much disagreement. Similar to the council back home. Equal representation is important but sometimes understandable to not have, since there seems to be so many problems.

[Don't mind him, he's just been mulling this all over. The death of the resident therapist really hasn't shaken Mordin up..at all...because, being who he is, he's seen enough death to have become immune to it.

That and any response he would have had would have been done and over quickly. Can't waste too much time after all.

The salarian is currently in his quarters in Liege's temple, quarters that he's turned into a makeshift lab considering all of the samples and other items scattered about the room. He's focused on his omni-tool, going over some data.]

Good to see a vote going into effect. Appease the masses. Should help with the disagreement. Entire committee should have been voted on though, not selected.

[He taps something then shuts his omni-tool off, one arm crossed while he holds his chin with the other.]

Well aware of how capable you are. But if assistance is required with victim, would be more than happy to assist. Curious to know the nature of a toxin that can effect non-organic individuals.

Establishing ^{a proper functional system in a}society as strange as the one we have here is not _{easy. I'm sure we all will} figure things out eventually.

Never easy, no. But all the more reason for beings from the different verses to sit down and discuss how it should be done. Develop our own system based on the best from all worlds. Take into consideration all the pros and cons and go from there.

World very similar to the jungles of Earth. Very beautiful. Full of life. Can be dangerous. Much more water on the planet than Earth which is a good thing considering the amphibious nature of my race.

[He activates his omni-tool again, looking something over even as he continues to talk.]

Called the STG. Worked independent cells. Handled dangerous missions such as counterterrorism, infiltration, reconnaissance, assassination, and sabotage.

The jungles? I knew a bit about them but I was never in one. I always wanted to see them, even if I've hear that it's hard to run in there. W-what's an amphibious?

That sounds a bit like what the Elite Guard does in my world. You liked it?

Amphibious means "to live in both water and on land", to make it short. Can function in aquatic environments as well as dry. Prefer a mix of both.

[Mordin makes a thoughtful sound when Blurr questions his omni-tool.]

Called an omni-tool. Multi-functional device. Used for varying purposes. Handy for keeping track of data, running analyses on things, doing medical scans--all sorts of things.

Did enjoy it, yes. [A pause.] Did some things I came to regret though.

My species have tools for all those that but not one that can do all that at once. [So cool.]

No. Doing alright. Can function without wet environments for quite some time.

...Much worse than fighting. Helped create something called the Genophage. Doomed an entire race to no longer reproduce and grow. Was the right decision at the time. Came to regret it later. Fixed it..prior to death.

There's always the lake in Alpha Trion's Quadrant, you could swim there.

Advanced, yes, but sometimes way more focused on killing each other rather than in using our resources for this sort of things. [There's an obvious hint of shame in his voice.]

Now, that's a good way to die. My almost-death was a bit less heroic, I failed my mission.

I think disagreement would be expected when we have as many varying backgrounds and experiences as we all do. ..A round table would be the best for everyone to be heard.

[ Saber tilts her head slightly. ] To vote on every member would be a large task, which is why I think it was not done that way. Since there was action taken immediately with concerns of certain members, do you think the vote for everyone is still required..?

True, yes. Always disagreements. Point is to find balance before attempting to piece together a system. Doesn't seem like much as been done to create balance. Already trying to get rid of a member.

[A thoughtful sort of look touches Mordin's face.]

Understand the desire to vote a member off. Heard he's not a good fit. But in order to create balance--equality here--leading group should be smaller and have better representation. Have children on committee. Individuals of varying backgrounds. More synthetics than organics. Should be a balance. No balance in current roster.

I think the ratio of synthetics to organics is due to lack of organics who are interested. ..And organics are fewer in number, already. There have been members of the Law Committee picked, but votes are still open to all and can be started by all. ..I am hoping this will offset any challenges related to misrepresentation that we have. [ Saber pauses. ] And anyone who has come onto the Law Committee was voted on when they first joined.

[ Suddenly, a gentle sigh. ] Your points are true and I agree. The Law Committee must start from somewhere, however, and hopefully improve itself over time.

Then number of sythenthics should match organics. Make it fair. Over-representation could cause frustration and feelings of mistrust down the line. Organics will always be outnumbered should a vote come down to it.

Just a thought to keep in mind.

..You bring up a subject that has bothered me since I arrived. It seems there are more synthetics than organics, and has been since I arrived. I watched over time and noticed that although organics had many reasons to perhaps feel under-represented, it seems no one feels that way. Or at least, no one has voiced it.

[ Saber shakes her head gently. ] In fact, many organics seem quite happy here with how things are.

Perhaps things are alright then. Come from a place where sythentics attempted to destroy all living species in the universe. Hesitant to trust completely in a situation like this.

It still perplexes me at times, so I understand why you are hesitant.

Most seem wary at first. Typical reaction. Giant robots are off putting.

We don't make the laws, we just enforce them. Thankfully the numbers of organics on the committee matches those of the mechs, almost.

Besides, I think the application process worked best. That way we can filter out those who really want the job and those who are capable.

All the more reason that the government should be voted on. If laws will apply to all individuals here in Haven, all individuals should have a say in who is making the laws.

Seems to me the application process has caused as many problems as a vote would.

You do have a point...but who do we pick? The First Forged? No offense, but Megatronus is not the best choice for leader.

We need to be more selective, but voting is not the place to go.

Perhaps not. But new system should be put into place. Many options. Just need to find the one that works.

I see what you mean there. The problem is finding one which agrees with everyone--well, most everyone.

Unfortunate truth is that no system will ever suit everyone. Some will always be unhappy.
