[ Here's a face that's been gone from the network for over a month. Wing looks a touch weary, his pinions lax, even though physically he seems in good health]
Hello Haven. I'm back now. I apologize for my absence, it was not intentional.
Sorry to ask this but, would anyone care to update me on recent events? Particularly from the Law Committee? I would appreciate it greatly.
[ He knows about Vandal, and a few of the others that have gone missing, which likely accounts for his glum mood.]
Also, committee members, I think we should put serious consideration into mapping not just the Haven but the surrounds. And clearly mark hazardous areas.
To everyone else... Please, if you're considering going exploring alone, regardless of skill level, do reconsider. Everyday we discover new hazards that persist on this world.
[ Wing might have taken down six reanimated mech frames on his own, maybe. But with the energy drain? There was no chance. ]
And well, I have a bunch of books, mostly human ones, that I don't need anymore. [ More specifically he needs to make room in his...room for someone else's stuff. ] Would anyone like them? I don't want them thrown away.
[Private to Barricade]
You're the one that told me about--what did you call them?--zombies?
Yeah. I have experience in that area now that I do not wish to repeat. [ o_o;; ]
[Private to Perceptor and Captain Marvelous]
Thank you, both of you, for coming to my aid.
I'm sorry to have put you in danger in the process of my rescue. If there's anything I can do to return the boon, please do tell me. I am in your debt.

Re: [video]
[then the amusement drains and he sighs] You robots don't have babies, do you? I never bothered to ask because I didn't think it was relevant, and I'm not sure you'd want me playing nurse maid for your car-kid.
Either way, we humans-- Well, I'm sure you know by now, but just in case: we humans, we organics, as we age, it isn't only our bodies that develop, but our minds. During childhood, our brains are still very much developing and learning, shaping and evolving based on the world around us.
I'm not saying these kids are dumb, nor are they babies, but they are still not mentally or emotionally mature enough to handle these sort of problems. Would you put a mechanic to work building nuclear bombs? I think not.
[Well that's an unexpected question.] Babies? No, not in the way you do. But some of that is not so different... Young Cybertronians may not need to grow physically and can gain raw data--knowledge--easily, but assimilating it and learning how to apply it in life is different. They don't have the same wisdom as their elders to, that must come with experience.
[McCoy has a point, but...] So why can't we give them smaller tasks? It seems they need the experience to grow, do they not? They need input in order to learn yes? Isn't it our responsibility to teach them if that's a required part of their development? It seems unfair to ask them to be better than they are without offering to help in making them so.
Smaller tasks are fine. As I was telling Miko, shadowing the committee and just listening and learning, keeping notes, would be the best for her. This sort of stuff takes patient and time. We humans tend to prefer holding our kids's hands in their development. In order to teach someone how to swim, for example, you start in the shallow end with help and support. You don't just drop them in the deep end and expect them to figure things out without any sort of guidance or help. It's a lot like going to school... Assuming you know what a school is. And God do I wish we had one here.
Miko can watch her superiors and elders, learn from them. When she fully understands the responsibilities, the requirements, and the energy this sort of position demands, then I'd say she's ready to take the next step. Not necessarily becoming a full-fledged committee member, but one step closer to it.
Re: [video]
[That's where the perspective of their juniors is helpful, if only they'd listen.]
[He chuckles.] We do have schools yes, for higher learning. Anything that requires conceptual thinking can't just be downloaded. Perhaps a school of some kind should be considered?
But I do take your meaning. There are cases when throwing a person directly into a situation they aren't prepared for can mean they rise to that occasion, but that is not ideal.
I don't want to discourage their interest though either, or make them feel we don't have faith in them.

[smirk] Downloading information straight into the human brain sounds a bit too... Sounds too dangerous and too Vulcan for me. Just ignore that last part.
I know it seems we're just being too hard on them, or we're not taking them seriously. Truth is, we are. They just have to learn things don't come easily, and as children, they still have a lot of growing up to do. Though I'm not saying all children are incapable and ill-equipped for larger, adult tasks - we got ourselves kid geniuses, and a seventeen year old flying starships. But I'm havin' a hard time believing all the kids here are prodigy children.
[You seen the sort of stunts Sari and Raf have pulled? Geez.]
