[Raf comes on the video, looking somewhat worse for the wear - but only in that he's been busy, and he shows it. he's a little scruffy, a little dirty, but looks incredibly pleased with himself as he waves.]

Hey guys! For the last little bit, I've been working on a project, and I've just now got it to where I think I can show it off-

[-and he moves his Device to what looks like...a small garden of sorts. we're talking only a few feet square, but there's soil in there, there's what looks like UV lamps, and what could be a water pump?

more to the point. there's things /growing/ in it. green things. Ratchet's nearby, working some of the machinery, before pausing in confusion as Raf continues
]

I was getting kind of tired of living off canned beans and everything, so I figured if we could get this on a bigger scale, we could have more food for people like me, Miko, Korra...and everyone else!

...Raf, where did you find this particular component?

Huh? [Raf turns, taking a moment to spot what Ratchet's pointing at] The pump? It was in the box I brought the other day, remember?

[and this is Ratchet looking somewhere between disturbed and...perplexed]

Ah...I think we need to talk.

[after a moment of confusion from Raf...he then cuts the feed]

Mm, while utility devices aren't something I'm particularly well-versed in, I do know how our fuel pumps work, so working on the same principle ought to work.

[And sush, Raf, you couldn't have known.]

[WE ALL LEARN. THINK OF IT AS A LEARNING EXPERIENCE IN ALIEN ANATOMY!]

Perhaps we should discuss it a bit later... after this has settled a bit.

[And no, he's not chuckling. There might be the faintest of smiles, but he sounds perfectly serious.]

Ah, thank you for this, Jetfire. Both for offering to help Raf and for, ah... below. With Starscream.

... Ah, well. While I can't claim to be an engineer, it ought to be simple enough.

[He's a bit surprised at the interjection, which is why there's a slight hesitation at first. Then he just shakes his helm, a faint static sigh underlying his next words.]

I wouldn't try to... and can't, tell him who and how to talk to people all the time, but Raf is a child. Some restraint [which he knows is in there somewhere] would be prudent.

I'm sure both Ratchet and I can help you with that, and if there's anything in particular you want to know, I'll... er, do my best to explain.

[He's perfectly aware that he sometimes isn't very good at making his explanations "simple" enough... Since to him, it's all obvious.]
angleofscience: (awkward smirk - yes if you say so)

[The smile Raf gets in return is slightly sheepish, perhaps.]

Hmm, good. I could probably make the pump computerized, would you care to assist with the programming?

[Since... either Raf would have to learn cyber glyphs, or the interface should be in a language most of the organics here could immediately comprehend.]
angleofscience: (peer - THAT's a human?)

I'll come back to you when I have the framework done, then.

[He's not sure why, but Raf perking up like that was sort of... gratifying? In a strange way. Jetfire's not sure how to handle that, exactly. Similar to Bumblebee's enthusiasm, though a lot less... mature as to what he's used to.

Children are hard.]
