[It was gone.

It was a quick glance at first, but a quick glance turned into a thorough search. Going through it back and forth. Mirage didn't have all the time in the world, but he needed that last bit of reassurance before he met up with Sideswipe. And it wasn't there.]

Rung's name is no longer on the Link's roster.

[This was not how this was supposed to go...]

[He sits carefully at the edge of his bed, resting the communicator on his lap. He doesn't understand the words, but he could get an idea of the feeling behind it. A small nod is all he manages at first before he can find words to follow.]

...it's...okay. He's gone back where he's supposed to be...

[Like everyone else... But that doesn't make him any less sad about it.]

[His face plating shivers slightly at that. He knew this feeling so well.]

Mmm. That is a good way to view it, isn't it.

But I feel your sentiment. I was rather fond of him as well.

I wish I could have at least said good-bye.

You still can, amico. He just won't be around for it.

I'm sure he'll hear it--is what...someone told me once.

I...I guess so.

[He really wants to believe those words, and it's little enough encouragement. He picks up the Forge with his right hand, carefully moving to stand again.]

I think...I'll go do that now.

[Those eyes squint, glad to at least see the shimmer of hope on the boy's face.

This human seemed different. There was no arrogance in him like the boy he knew back home. Or even some of the adults.]

With yourself injured like that? A ride would be preferred, no?

[Offering you some transportation, just in case.]

Huh? O-oh, this. [He forces a smile.] I think it's getting better. My ribs are feeling a lot better, at least...

I...wasn't going to go that far- just outside of Prima's temple. That's where I'm staying.

....but...if you wanted to join me? We could say good-bye together.

I hate to ask what you went through, human.

I'm not sure if I will like the reason.

It would be a nice distraction, yes. You will wait there, then?

Had kind of a bad landing out in the...Badlands. [Even he has to wince at the unintentional pun.]

[But he nods, definitely looking in slightly higher spirits at that.]

Mn, I'll be out in front.

[Yeah, joint wince there, but his eyes are glittering at it. HE LOVES AND HATES PUNS.]

That is awfully ironic, no?

[He gets up, ready to make tracks.]

I will be there shortly.

Yeah, a little. [He laughs a little- and tries to hide a faint wince.]

All right, I'll see you then.

[Being a need-for-speed sportscar, it doesn't take Mirage long to get to Prima's temple, pulling up in his Ferrari mode. His mirrors flick slightly, searching for the boy sitting outside.

Shouldn't be too hard to find. How many blonde humans with broken ribs and arms could there be?]

[Not hard at all, since he's the only one out front. The boy gets to his feet when he sees the red car pull up. He hasn't seen many of the Cybertronians transform, so it's always a thrill to see what they looked like in their alt modes.]

[It's only for a brief second more, once spotting the kid, before he practically cartwheels into a kneeling position before him.

Okay, Mirage is a bit of a show off.]

[Okay, that was pretty cool.]

Wow...!

[Ven's been needing something to cheer him up lately, so he doesn't so much mind the showing off.]

[And in return, Mirage's face plating shivers--as close as he can get to a smile.]

It is impressive, right?

[Bask in your own ego why don't you...Have you been taking lessons from Sideswipe?]

Hm. Humans are far more sturdy than the credit I give them.

[No need to prompt the kid for praise!]

Yeah! I've only seen a couple of you change like that, but it's really different. It's really amazing though.

[He smiles faintly.]

Most of the time, maybe.

[Oh you're adorable, Ven. Hell, you have no idea what Earth is like and you'd be a better main character for his universe.]

We are all different in terms of transformation. Some are...more complex. Others? Simple.

[It's hesitant, but he holds out his hand for the boy to sit in if he'd like.]

Oh, I get it. It's still pretty cool.

[The boy seems familiar with the offer as he steps towards the extended hand without hesitation. Carefully he climbs up into the Autobot's massive palm.]

[And with ease, he lifts Ven up, using his other hand to cup around him just in case balance becomes an issue. He had almost no experience holding humans, but he was very precise, with those thin fingers.]

Now then. Our goodbye?

[Nodding, Ventus glances at Mirage before he looks up at the sky, his eyes automatically drifting towards the brilliant blue scar slashed across the blackness.]

...I hope you're okay, wherever you are. Thanks for being a good friend, and I'm glad we had a chance to meet, here.

Maybe we'll see each other again, but for now...

[He swallows. This is harder than he thought it would be.]

...good-bye, Rung. I'll miss you...

[Mirage listens as he holds Ven, looking up into the Lambda with him and giving a soft purr. The boy certainly had a way with words, even if it was a simple goodbye. His wings flick, tilting his head back down when the boy was finished.]

Molto bello, mio amico...

Rung would be proud.

[Ventus sighs quietly, lowering his head as he glances back at Mirage.]

Thanks for being here to say goodbye with me.

[Mirage glances back, those blue eyes flicking slightly as those wings flick.]

It should not be something we should do alone.

Lose one friend, but treasure those with you.

[The boy nods slowly.]

That's true. It still hurts. ...but at least I know that no matter where they might be now, they'll still be close by.

[The fingers of his right hand curl into a loose fist, and he thumps it lightly over his heart.]
