[And off she goes! Sari manages to stretch out her ride over to the other temple for a good hour before she finally shows up, sullen and peeking around the door frame in the obvious hopes that the good doctor is not around.]

[Alas, Sari, but the moment you say 'hi,' McCoy emerges. He smiles at Sari, gesturing her over.] Don't be nervous, kid. I may be demanding and a little harsh, but I do it for your own good. Gotta keep you in shape.

[McCoy brings over a tray of medical instruments and tricorder, pats the edge of the lowered slab.] Giddy-up. Hopefully this won't take too long.

I guess...

[She sighs sullenly, fidgeting for a moment before trotting over and hopping right on up.]

[McCoy smirks at her response. But he doesn't say anything; goes immediately into work mode. He raises his tricorder, scanning her body, but... McCoy arches a brow, glaring at his little medical device.] These readings... [He smacks the tricorder lightly.] Somethin's off. My tricorder is registering mechanical systems.

[ooc: oh, I'm assuming McCoy doesn't know she's, you know, not human.]

[Sari goes stiff the moment he notices something 'odd', glancing up with wide eyes.]

...H-heh, yeah. About that...

I know enough to know you seem to a good clean bill of health right now. [He ran the tricorder over her again, just in case.] But, still... I'm glad to see you haven't been getting into as much trouble as before. Like with that damn jetpack.

[It's the key words 'readings' and 'Cybertronian' that get her to finally crack, and the rest of McCoy's words just kind of wash over her.]

[Sari throws her hands up in the air and scrambles back to stand up on the exam table.]

Yeah, I'm a big giant freak, okay! I'm not human - I'm probably not even supposed to exist and D-Dad never bothered to explain anything!

[Her voice rises up to a girlish shriek, even as it begins to hitch with suppressed sobs.]

[Oh, God. McCoy's eyes about pop out of his skull with shock at her response. He knows his bedside manners aren't the best, but--] Sari, no. God, no. I didn't mean to imply you were a freak.

[McCoy crosses the room, returning a split second later. He moves in comfortably close, bends forward, meets her gaze; basically, taking a harmless position to prove he's not going to hurt her. Nothing in a condescending way.] Listen, Sari, you're not a freak. An' I'm sorry if I made you feel that way. But you aren't a freak.

Sometimes you stress me out, sometimes you worry me, but that's because I like and care about you, kid. [And McCoy offers a hanky? He's almost tempted to wipe her face clean, but that would probably be too invasive or discomforting for the girl. McCoy's face is completely sincere; he's not pitying Sari, he's legitimately sorry.] Forgive me?
