Gathering

[This is a post. Within this post exist Prima, Liege, and A3. They exist here for the purposes of wrapping up previous conversations/plots or starting new ones. They will exist here for about a week, and all conversations that occur therin will be considered to have taken place PRIOR to the Pillar Event.

Alpha Trion can be found anywhere around his temple, or alternatively can sometimes be caught exploring the wastelands outside of the Haven. He's just as likely to get hold of you randomly one day while testing out the link device, however.

Prima can be found only in his tower. He's much more difficult to get hold of, but will surface for urgent matters and can be contacted through the Link...even if he'll be slow to reply.

Liege Maximo can be found in his many labs. He's been in a mood lately, but most would call it a 'good' mood, which means he's looking for people to interact with. Or on. If he's been in contact with you before he'll seek you out either in person or through an encrypted channel on your link device. Otherwise you will likely have to run into him.

To have a conversation with any of them, just specify WHO and WHERE or LINK in the title of your reply. Any action will be actionspam~]

[Barricade admittedly doesn't stop by Alpha Trion's temple too often (or as often as he should), mostly because he keeps himself so busy. But sometimes you just have to take a break and get some new scenery. Or some old scenery, as it were.

He's well familiar with the room, though he was a lot smaller and furry-er the last time he was around. It's much nicer to visit in his proper body. Get a few from the right height. Even if he ends up as a perch for at least a half dozen meowing fluffballs, forcing him to hold still as they climb on his armor.

Don't want to accidentally hurt them, after all.]

[The Cat Room is one of A3's favorite places to unwind, for much the same reasons Barricade enjoys it.]

[Well, perhaps not exactly the same reasons. Alpha Trion has never been a cat, himself, but he still enjoyed the company of the small creatures and he still enjoyed the way that caring for something else gave him time to think. There was plenty to think about these days.]

I think I know where to write you into what's called a 'will,' Barricade.

What c'n I say? I happen to like the critters.

[He scoops one off his armor - a tortoiseshell that's climbed the highest up his leg - and carefully pets it with the knuckle of one clawed finger. He learned the best ways for someone of his build to handle small organics when he first got Rumble. Thankfully it translates to even cats. Don't want to accidentally hurt the little beastie after all.]

I even owned one for a while myself... as much as cats can be owned anyway. Stopped by for a break from work, I'm guessin'?

You're very astute. Things have been...

[He frowns, looking for the right word.]

Busy. [Busy was good.] There may come a time soon when I won't have the luxury of these visits. [He bends down, scooping up a gentle handful of cats and offering them a tiny pile of treats.]

What brings you here, today?

Figured as much. Setting up an entire planet is a lotta work f'r a handful of folks - even if those folks are demigods.

[A hit of respect in the mostly irreverent tone. The question earns a light chuckle from Barricade.]

'All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.' Needed a break from all my own projects. Besides, I thought I ought to thank you for the surprise gift of suddenly understanding the flight language of airframes. [He brings his free hand up to indicate his Glyph.] Since that outline is your color, if I'm not mistaken.

It is. [He smiles a little, stroking a single finger over one cat.] Which is why the assistance of the Refugees has been invaluable, believe it or not.

[He returns that respect in his own way.]

Ah, so I've been rubbing off on you, have I? [Now he chuckles, confirming the color on Barricade's glyph.] Just wait until you encounter a species which communicates by scent and light.

Or.

Well. You were just referencing airframes, weren't you.

[Barricade brings his claw back down, wagging it lightly just above the cat in his palm. The creature flops over, batting at the tip of the silver talon.] Heh. You mean when we're not endlessly squabbling amongst ourselves?

[Yeah. 'Squabbling'. Let's call it that.]

So you have. And to be frank I'd be interested to see that. Seems there's been a lot I've lost in translation over the centuries.

I was. All those little nuances in the tilt of wingflaps and such, and I never even realized before.

How can I blame you for that, when I can hardly get my brethren to agree on how best to ready Cybertron? You would think it should be obvious to us...but it is not. Primus gave us each strange gifts.

[He seems intent on his cats, but is just as interested in talking. He doesn't get to do it as much as he'd like anymore. Especially since this gives him the opportunity to speak in a very primal series of beeps and clicks and have it completely understood...for Barricade's benefit of course.]

You should see Vector in flight. He acts as if he owns the sky...which, given his purview, may very well be the case. Just don't let him catch you ruffling your panelling.

Gods explain their plans about as often as Primes from my universe explain theirs, from what I've figured. Besides, 's the freedom of choice. Can't just dictate everything, or this'd all just he a story in a book somewhere.

[It's fascinating to listen to someone speaking like that and still be able to understand it. Something about it reminds him a little of the Lensmeters' dronespeak. Barricade only focuses on it enough to learn it; any more concentration and he might panic a little.]

I wouldn't do anything of the sort! Far too forward even for me. No plating ruffling, I swear. Though I can't promise I wouldn't comment to him on it later, of course.

Perhaps it is a legacy of those who take the title of 'Prime.' Primus. Prima. And Optimus, yes?

[He chuckles.]

Let me know if you do. I find the nuances in language particularly fascinating...but, more than that, the knowledge should be useful in our future. I know Primus intends to populate this world, but I do not yet know how our future brethren will communicate.

It will be an interesting day, when it occurs.

May I ask a favor of you, Barricade?

And Sentinel too, for that matter. Just... heh, not the one here.

[The Sentinel here is... definitely not so much the secretive and mysterious business.]

True. Should be interesting to see how things turn out with natives, whenever there are any besides the FirstForged. How they do things... hopefully they'll do better than the rest of us.

[He pauses, looking up at Alpha Trion and nodding shortly, still absently petting the cat in his hand.]

Of course, Alpha Trion. Ask away.

No, no...the one here is a Prime by title only, if I recall. It's a fascinating command structure.

[He bends down, releasing the cats from his hand and returning to normal speech.]

There will be some time before they come to the decisions you had to make, Barricade. You may even encounter a version of your future self, if you stay long enough...

[He knows he shouldn't be saying such a thing...that the other firstforged might object....but he sees no reason to hold back the truth.]

I will need someone to watch this room...in case something should ever happen to me.

Interesting, seeing a Prime that's a rank instead of chosen by a Matrix or hatched that way.

[Barricade pauses, considering Alpha Trion's words. A version of himself. He's heard of a sparse few, but he's never met one before. Which would admittedly be fascinating.]

If the mech was anything like me, he wouldn't listen to a thing I said. Always wondered about other mes, though.

[The request startles him a little, his wings flicking and some of his plating flaring.]

Are... are you sure?

Indeed! It is the differences between worlds that hold the most fascination for me...and also can help us the most in getting our own started.

I have not met another 'you' yet, but I have no doubt there is one. If a version eventually was created on this world...would you wish to interact with him?

[It's a curiosity more than a test, but he does want to know what you would say.]

I am. Not many know how to properly care for felines.

Always on the lookout for ways to keep from making the same mistakes as the rest of us, huh? I have been too, honestly. Trying to figure out if there's some way to fix it...

There probably is, somewhere. Heavens only know what he'd be like. [He pauses at the question.] Much as I'd be interested to see how he turned out... I'd be too concerned about accidentally influencing him one way or another. Wouldn't want some other version of myself to end up on a path because of my issues.

Well, I. Shall do my best to take care of them, then. But only if you are unable to.

That...

[He looks surprised.]

Yes, that is precisely it. We've been given a disadvantage from the start in having to fend off Unicron immediately without Primus's assistance. It is our only hope to learn as much as we can about how other worlds prevail.

...

You do have a very temporally enlightened view, you know?

[Not just because of how you'd treat your future self.]

I will recharge better knowing that they will be safe.

What can I say? I'm an old talon at this.

Besides. Things are over, with my Cybertron. I might as well find a way to aid another one so things go differently. Especially since you already have more problems than my dimension ever had to start with.

[They had everything handed to them on a silver platter in comparison... and just look how that turned out.]

In that case I'll work doubly hard. You of all mechs deserve an easy rest every once in a while.

Your aid is appreciated, Barricade...as it has been since you've arrived.

[He smiles...and actually bows to you, dislodging a cat or two. Thankfully, they land softly enough.]

Is there anything else I can do for you today?

Just doing the best I can, same as the rest of us. Well. Some if us, anyway.

[He bows in return, carefully shifting his plating to keep the felines on him mostly level.]

I just wanted to thank you and see how you were doing. Considering it's been a while since we spoke and all.

[He laughs.] Enough of us, I think.

Thank you, Barricade. It does mean a lot that you have been thinking of me lately.

With all that we've been busy with...its a wonder I was able to find even this much time. I ought to be returning to my work.

[He chuckles.] So long as that's true we should be okay, then.

Of course I was. I'm not exactly known for my stellar relations with Primes or quasi-divine beings with unknowable power so when one comes along that I actually like~

I know that feeling. Just make sure that you get a break or two, huh? No working yourself to exhaustion.
