Well.
That was certainly an experience. How about we never do that again?
[He foresees many awkward conversations coming his way, so he might as well get them done with as soon as possible. Also the less he talks about how he pretty much snapped out of it while snuggling Prowl, the better.]
[Locked to Rewind]
Hey, you around?
I feel like I could use a bath. Want to go get a bath?
...
I'm sorry.
[Locked to Prowl]
Hey sorry I ran off, but we need to talk.
If that's okay with you.

[Locked to Prowl]
Hey sorry I ran off, but we need to talk.
If that's okay with you.
[Action]
...
[Moment of truth.]
I had wanted to apologize because I spent about two weeks thinking that Prowl and I were conjunx enduras. It wasn't my idea and I didn't know any better...
Still, I thought I should apologize anyway.
[Action]
[That visor narrows for a moment, but Chromedome's tone...it's not the usual one he takes when Rewind catches him using the needles. It's actual guilt. And the fact that he's apologizing for something beyond his control...
That hand, which had curled itself into a fist, relaxes. A bit.]
Did you like it?
[It's a bit of a nervous question, which is rare, coming from him.]
[Action]
Yes. I was happy.
[Before Rewind could say anything he quickly adds on.]
But not just because I was with Prowl. I was happy because I had a life that... that I didn't fill with regrets. I had never wanted to... die... and I never grew to resent the gifts that I have. I escaped Cybertron before the war started, so I never went through with everything that's made me the person I am now.
It made me think of the ways it could have been. At the same time though, you and I had never met during that lifetime.
Rewind... You are worth everything, just so you know.
[Action]
But it's slow to relax, when he listens to him. It was a view they both shared. It was sad, he'd say that. But if he hadn't hit rock bottom like he did...he'd never have entered that clinic.
He'd never have met Chromedome. So...yeah...
It was all worth it.]
So are you, Chromedome. You're stubborn and you drive me up the wall. You don't listen...and you're impulsive.
[He looks down, at that hand that's so much bigger than his own. And...he places his on top of it. His fingers are smaller by far, but they fit perfectly into the spaces between Chromeome's, interlacing seamlessly.]
But you're wonderful. And I think you can redeem yourself--
No.
[He looks up.]
We can redeem ourselves. For all that time lost.
You can have a perfect life, sure. But when it's given to you...you don't really learn, do you?
I like learning, Chromedome. But..[A slight laugh.] you knew that, didn't you.
[Action]
Wordlessly, he wraps his arms around Rewind and pulls him closer, burying his face in the smaller bot's chest. His shoulders shake a little as he fights down a sob, it's so tempting to just break down, to let it all out.
He needs Rewind. He'll always need him. Rewind is the most real thing in the world...]
[Action]
Or as much as he could get.
His helm sits on top, looking up at the stars as they stay there. Chromedome didn't know it, but he was just as needed. The only thing keeping Rewind stable in this unbalanced equation of life. He keeps himself strong, though.]
It's okay.
[That voice is gentle, with little to no attitude. Almost...quiet.]
