[001 | Video - Static Ahoy!]
[It had taken a moment or two..maybe it was three--he really couldn't say--but when everything had finally settled and he'd gotten most of his bearings back, realization hit him as he peered at the mark on his arm.
He'd seen that mark before. Primus it had been awhile but he'd had that mark on his arm before.
Pushing himself up, Smokescreen had tried to activate his navigation systems but nothing was working right and he had no idea how long it had been since he'd been here before. Looking around didn't really help with his problem, considering he was pretty sure he was in the middle of the Badlands.
Lucky, it seemed like his comms were still working, though they were full of static.
It was something though.]
--anyone c-c-copy?
This--Smokesc--n.
[Man he hoped someone would be able to understand this.]
Not sure--w-w-where I am. Badlands--? Navigation systems not---king.
--could use some help.
[Anyone? Someone?]

Audio; ---> Video
[Andhe does, since Ratchet would kill him if he didn't.]
action;
[This whole conversation hurts. There's a reaching feeling of failure and... he can't shake it off. He should have tried harder. He should have searched...]
[When he arrives at the medical bay, he doesn't enter right away. He's still expecting this to be a joke.]
[So he lingers in the doorway, peering inside, far more hesitant than he's ever been before.]
Re: action;
Just when he thought the other might not be coming, movement caught his attention and he perked, brightening despite his earlier conversation with Ratchet.]
Dadceptor!
[And then he's across the medbay, latching onto the other for dear life.]
action;
[And right when he begins to withdraw...]
[The other Autobot is launching at him. The big tank actually staggers backward, trying to maintain his balance and, at the same time, catch the flying bot.]
[... because that action alone, that reaction, is nothing that could be faked.]
I--
It...
[For one of the first times, Perceptor finds himself speechless.]
... where have you been?
[It comes out softly, more softly than he intended it to. Rough and ragged and exhausted, suddenly.]
Re: action;
[Because while being back with his team, with the bots that were practically his family, he'd been missing one of the key figures in his life that helped make everything make sense. Someone that had been a key factor in his growth when he was in haven Before and even after leaving.
He shudders, pressing closer to the scientist, face pressed against his chestplate.]
I didn't think I'd ever see you again.
action;
[Just a simple gesture.]
Home... but you'd vanished. You -- I looked.
[Everywhere.]
[He doesn't want to admit this. But... they're being honest now, aren't they?]
I'd... given up. Searching. General assumption was you'd vanished to the Badlands like the others...
[So he'd given up.]
action;
I'm sorry. I'm sorry, dad, I didn't mean to--I didn't....
[Shifting closer, it was like he was just trying to hide from everything.]
I don't know what happened--I don't know why it happened. I didn't mean to worry you. Primus--I didn't want to just disappear like that, I swear to you.
action;
[He hadn't known who to blame. But Smokescreen... hadn't entered into the running. This place, maybe.]
[Perceptor isn't a touchy bot. Or, he wasn't, before all of this business happened. Something about this contact, however, makes him feel suddenly protective. As if he needs to offer somewhere to hide. How odd.]
I didn't blame you. I... still do not.
You've returned. It's more than I had ... more than I expected.
action;
[Because he'd grown so use to his family in Haven, so use to the way things were here that going back had been so strange.
Unfamiliar.
Pulling back some, Smokescreen peered up at the other, optics bright.]
I missed you a lot, dad.
action;
[Which is hopeful, if nothing else. Maybe Magnus -- He stops himself from heading down that train of thought too quickly.]
[He looks back down, shifting his grip to rest his hands on the smaller Autobot's shoulders, instead.]
I can safely say things have not been the same since your disappearance...
[Perceptor speak for: I missed you too.]
action;
[He grins a bit, doorwings flicking happily as Perceptor's hands rest on his shoulders.]
Well, things can go back to normal now right? As normal as this place ever was, I mean.
action;
[It's a lot flashier. He almost didn't recognize him, as a result.]
Provided you avoid unnecessary trips to the Badlands, and your medical scan comes back healthy... yes.
I suppose... they can.
[HE IS SO GLAD TO SEE YOU, KID 8( ]
action;
[He backs off a bit, holding his arms out as he looks himself over then beams at Perceptor.]
Needed a new look so the 'Cons wouldn't recognize me right away. Back home I mean.
[Yes because going from flashy to flashier was smart. Smokescreen is good at this game.
His arms drop and his doorwings give a flick, a content glow to his optics.]
You still hiding away in your lab all the time?
action;
[He doesn't want to crush the poor kid's dream but, seriously. This doesn't look at all helpful.]
[But he pats his shoulders, regardless.]
No. But not for any good reason. Grimlock destroyed it, in your absence.
action;
[Sort of.
The pat on the shoulders is appreciated though, dadbot.]
....What?! The lab's gone?!
action;
[And there, he just looks tired. Shaking his head.]
But things have come up.
action;
Is.....well, now that I'm back, I'll help you get everything back to the way it was.
[He wants to press, wants to ask what that tired look is about but right now?
Right now he wants to try and cheer the other up a bit.]
action;
[That's about when Perceptor does something wildly out of character for him. He stares at Smokescreen, silently, for a few moments.]
[And then just plain hugs the poor kid. Crushingly.]
action;
action;
[And he never once felt anything other than guilt over losing you. But now you're back.]
[And maybe things really can go back to normal.]
...
You'd best never do such a thing again. Disappearing.
action;
[While his tone is playful, there's a sincere note there as well. It's not like he wanted to disappear before..it just happened.]
action;
[He knows -- that it wasn't intentional. That Smokescreen means it. But even so, he can't really find it in him to loosen his grip just yet.]
[Smokescreen might have to be the one to do it.]
action;
Smokescreen isn't really all that intent on letting go at the moment. He's far too comfortable with his current position.]
So what's happened since I was here last?
action;
[All right then, they can just sort of stand here like this for a while, then.]
... much like home, really.
