[Police Headquarters][Open][SLIGHTLY back-dated]
This is...a general...alert.
[The video shows McCrane, who is trying to look very composed despite his voice sounding haggard and his green optics glowing very dim.]
The prisoner...
Ratchet.
He escaped...from his cell a few...minutes ago.
[Those who know the police headquarters well miiight recognise that McCrane appears to be resting on one of the bunks in the prison, leaning heavily against the wall.]
I am sorry.
[Locked to fellow Police members.]
Prowl. Blurr. I...I am malfunctioning.
[McCrane does not understand the idea of being sick. He was not programmed to be sick.]
I need...one of you...to take over operations here. The rest of you...please begin tracking down the prisoner.
[That is the extent of his tactical expertise right now. He's trying. He's really, really trying.]

[This conversation is keeping him distracted, which means he's slightly less stressed. Distantly, he's aware that he SHOULD be stressed and should be tracking down criminals, but he can't work up the energy, and doesn't want to fail again.]
What was that like?
Having a mother, I mean?
no subject
[ that had been said as more musing out loud than anything else. but man... how to you describe something like that? ]
Having a mom is... Well. She's someone that is always going to love you, no matter what. So I feel safe when I'm around here. Loved and looked after. She takes care of me when I'm sick, helps me when there's some homework I don't exactly understand.
But she always nags too. Making sure I eat right. That I brush my teeth and go to bed on time. Gives me chores and grounds me when I mess up. Typical mom stuff. I still love her lots, though.

That...is like what I do for the Build Team. I could be a mother.
[Wait. Something seems off about this.]
It is also what Yuuta did for us, and what Seia did for me. ...family.
[Actually, it puts a lot into perspective.]
Thank you. I needed to remember that for a moment.
[AND THEN HE REALIZES THERE HAS BEEN A TERRIBLE BREACH IN PROTOCOL.] What is your name?

[ and it's a nice feeling, even if Sora's "family" no longer is just his mother. it's Kairi, Riku... and many others that he's met along the way. still, he's glad he can distract someone.
and it's enough to make him smile. ]
No problem. I think we all need reminders once and a while. [ a laugh. ] And the name's Sora.

[HE IS LEARNING NOW THANK YOU SORA.]
Sora. I am McCrane, BP Unit 301 of the Brave Police. If you ever need a job...
[You can ask.]

[ he's grinning, dude. all is well on the Sora train. and don't think he won't keep in mind the offer. ]
Nice to meet you, but... What's a BP Unit?
