He's . . . he's asked me to become one of his Initiates.  Said I should talk to you before giving him an answer.

[He doesn't answer right away. Why now? Why are they suddenly asking so many now?]

What is it you want to know?

. . . what does it entail?  What is expected –in terms of service, in terms of self, in terms . . . of . . . I don't know.  What do you really get in return?

  [a pause, then quietly]

  I've sworn myself to someone much more powerful than me before.  And regretted it for megavorns since.  I feel like this wouldn't be a bad thing to do, maybe a good thing . . . but I don't want to make the same mistake again.  I want to know everything before I get into something like this again.

  [That's muttered more to himself than anything, thinking aloud.]

  Yeah, I've noticed that I can read and understand more languages than I actually have in my databanks.  [Kagerou's probably caught sight of the Seeker in the libraries more and more of late.]

  He's asked me to guard his quadrant, the lake and the rest of his lands.  Which I do already. 

  [He patrols all over Haven as a member of the Police Force, but he tends to concentrate more in "his" territory –in Alpha Trion's quadrant –than elsewhere.]

  So generally it sounds like a good thing?  Fairly easy and you get more than you're expected to give?

  [Eons of experience tell him to watch for this "too good to be true" thing to come back and shoot him in the aft, but…]

He does errands, if I ask. Brings fuel. That sort of thing.

[He'll answer it, regardless. If he's supposed to be answering questions, then, that's what he's going to do.]

If that's what he's asked of you... that's what you'll be expected to do.

[He shrugs.]

He promised me I wouldn't be asked to do anything I didn't agree with. And I can... say no. If necessary.

[Okay, that last definitely gets his attention.]

Yeah? Have you ever had to test that?

[You don't just say "no" to a powerful leader, let alone a supposed demi-god, after all. They don't tend to take that well. Or anyway, that's been the Seeker's experience.]

He's only ever asked me to watch and listen. And, I do that anyway.

[A shrug.]

He even asked if I wanted to end it. So... that means it's possible, I think.

[Thundercracker's mind, of course, goes first to that having been a trap of some kind. He could see Megatron pulling something like that on someone, asking if they wanted out…only to turn it on them if they said yes. But…another second's thought, and he realizes that he truly doesn't believe Alpha Trion would try something like that.]

[It kind of makes him pause, actually, to realize how much he's come to trust the demi-god in what he thinks the mech will or won't do.]

Huh . . . sounds like this really could be a pretty good deal then.
