Video; transmission from: Nexic Quadrant
[Well, it would seem that someone is finally sounding in. Took him long enough, especially considering that he seems to be using his sleeping back as a blanket, with a cup of something steaming in his hands. He sniffles.]
How did this happen, I never get sick. Bah...
Everyone should avoid my shack, maybe, I am contagious. It is probably that... whatever that is going around. Though if you happen to have soup I would not mind so much if you stopped by.

...
At least, not well.
[Not without, you know, killing the person who had it.]
I don't tend to come into public areas much. I think it has something to do with the sheer number of people who STILL want me dead.

Like magic, yes?
[Strelok pauses, taking a sip of his drink and considering the last thing that Megatron said.]
Ahh. But hiding, that is no way to live. It does no one any good... especially you. If people want you dead, then you are no different from others. Everyone has enemies; they cannot be hidden from forever.

[He regrets not being a scientist, sometimes, but it isn't like he had a choice.]
Is someone trying to kill you?
Besides this 'flu,' I mean.
no subject
[And worse you can't eat chicken noodle soup or drink tea until you feel better.]
Mm. Not lately. But back home, in the Zone? Everything will kill you. Including your fellow man.
I have had hits out on me, before. It did not stop me from going out and doing what I do best.
UNEXPECTED DEEP TURN?
[He frowns.] Some, people would pay for, to get the high off of the change to their systems. It was not like this.
[He'd enjoy chicken noodle soup, if there had been the opportunity.]
...
Do you know...
Until being torn from my home, it was rare that I was alone. Even in the worst situations, someone was there who shared my misery.
[Sometimes he was killing that someone, but he still was not alone.]
I thrive on contact. On understanding others. Manipulating them. Commiserating with them.
It has been hard to start over here, without that.
OH MAI HELLO DEEP TURN
[Well, maybe someday. As much as Strelok wouldn't wish body changes on anyone.]
Back home, I was often alone. Especially after I lost my crew. But that is the way of the stalker; we form groups when we need but are mostly on our own.
[Really, the only part of that he'd minded was that he missed Ghost and Fang's company. He pulls his sleeping bag a little tighter around himself as he shivers for a moment.]
It is not so different here, maybe. Like the, ah. The trip to the Badlands, yes? We came together and then we split apart.
If you are used to lots of company, it can be hard. But it gets easier, over time. And some things... you can only do on your own.
DEEP IS GOOD LIKE OCEAN
[By staying far away.]
.....
That. May be so.
However, if I become used to it...If I allow myself to relax?
Then it becomes all the harder to return home and be ready for my war. I--
[He's afraid of that. He can't possibly say it, however.]
I am not ready to do that, yet.
Going to the Badlands was fun, though, wasn't it?
BUT ALSO FULL OF MONSTERS AND THE UNFORGIVING WAVES
[Hey, if it encourages a lack of a worse pandemic...]
Do not become used to being alone. That is a terrible existence. If you become used to anything...
Become used to change. Things will not always be the same, here or where you come from. Enemies can become allies, and allies enemies. And some allies and enemies will become corpses.
Even if these things happen, you must carry on. In war, especially.
[He chuckles a little, though it encourages a ragged cough out of him.]
It was an adventure, to be certain. Though perhaps it would be best to wait before repeating that adventure.
