-aw come on, not now!!

[The boy curses over the sound of warning alerts, the feed shaky as wherever he is, it looks like Garrod is struggling with some sort of controls. Those blinking lights around him can't be good.]

Come on, come on, come on- Crap, no good, I gotta slow this thing down somehow..!

[He glances around frantically before it seems something comes to mind.]

Hope the Harmonica's still got some juice..!

[Flipping a few switches, he wrestles again with the main controls of his Gundam, concentrating on the main screen before him as he watches the ground get closer with each second.]

-Now!

[There's a flare of reddish light, and depending on where one is around the Northeastern edges of the Haven, one might see a large white mech in mid-plummet, suddenly firing off a stream of multiple beam blasts from a long shield-like weapon. It serves to provide a brief buffer in the Gundam's descent, but the landing is still a rough one once it does touch down with its feet, the ground crumbling at its impact, sending the mobile suit sprawling forward a good couple of miles before it halts.]

Rgghhh...!

[The image rattles badly with the landing, and Garrod himself is thrown forward in the mech's cockpit, unmoving as the lights within fade out along with the alarms system.]

[Jadewing unfortunately didn't catch the transmission. He does, however, catch sight of the falling mech while out flying. He winces slightly at the impact and, after a few long moments spent mentally debating it, heads that way for a closer look.

He circles over the fallen mech a few times before transforming and landing nearby. He approaches cautiously, recalling the amount of firepower the mech had displayed. Whoever he is, though, the crash seems to have knocked him offline. Jadewing crouches down next to the mech, taking hold of his nearer shoulder and, with an effort, managing to turn him over onto his back. Best to check him over, see if he could get him back online before calling in a medic.]

[The Gundam is fairly large and pretty much a dead-weight, but once Jadewing does manage to finally roll it over, well, nothing happens. It lies there, its optics unlit, but its weapons remain firmly held in either hand, a large blaster rifle aside from the odd shield-like weapon.]

[The mech looks remarkably intact after such a rough landing; his armor is cracked in several places that Jadewing can see, particularly on the legs, which took the brunt of the initial impact, and Jadewing was willing to bet there were more stress fractures on the internal mechanisms. But the armor had held up, and there were no rents or fluid leaks that he could see.

Jadewing is also impressed by the fact that the mech had managed to hold onto his weapons, despite the violence of his landing; his hands must have locked on them automatically. After another brief mental debate, Jadewing decided to disarm the mech before attempting to wake him. He didn't want to find out what this mech would do if he woke to find a stranger looming over him. He started trying to remove the shield first; it'd be sort of in the way for any medic he might have to call to the scene anyway.]

[Given that they were expected to do space battle, the Gundams are built tough. A little cracks and dents are definitely preferable to any further mangling, but Kid isn't here to throw a fit about any damages, period.

It takes a bit of effort on Jadewing's part, but eventually he'd be able to pry the Beam Harmonica out of its hand.

Inside, slowly but surely, Garrod begins to come to. That had not been a fun landing.]

[Jadewing sets the shield down on the ground nearby. It's heavy; shuttle-mech grade or similar, by his estimate. Which was probably why the rest of him had held up so well too, come to think of it, though the mech didn't look like any shuttle-mech he'd ever seen.

He moves around to the other side beginning to work the blaster rifle free as well. Once that was out of the way, he'd see if he couldn't wake this guy up.]

[Garrod can hear something outside, but the screens and sensors are all dark, and even though he tries to bring it online with a few toggles of switches and buttons, he knows the Gundam's out of power.

Groaning as he tries to move, he removes the control unit from its place, tucking it and his link into his jacket. There's a particularly sharp pain in his side as he tries to pull himself towards the hatch release, a pain that doesn't improve when he drops back against the hard pilot's seat.]

Owww....

[He sure hopes he didn't break any ribs. After a couple of minutes, he carefully tries again, reaching his other hand up. It takes a few attempts, but slowly he manages to shove the hatch up, slightly. Jadewing will see it start to swing up just above the Gundam's central chestpiece.]

[It takes some doing, and some careful manipulation of stiff fingers so as not to pull the weapon's trigger by accident, but the blaster rifle soon joins the shield lying next to its owner on the ground.

It's right about then, though that Jadewing notices what he at first thinks is the mech stirring. But no, the mech remains steadily offline. It looked like a panel on his upper chest was trying to swing open, though with difficulty. Some kind of automatic repair protocol, designed to allow access to internal systems maybe maybe?

Carefully, Jadewing takes hold of the edge of the panel and gently begins to lift it open himself. He didn't want to force it, but if the automatic systems had been damaged in the crash, they might need a bit of help.]

[And suddenly it's a whole lot easier to swing the thing open! Garrod's a little surprised by that, but it's a load off on his part, so all he has to do is climb out and- hocrapit'sarobot]

-GAH!

[It's not that he hasn't talked to guys like Jadewing before, but he hadn't expected anyone there on the other side, and face it, having a robot looming over you is enough to provide a start, right? Unfortunately it also makes him lose his grip, and back down he tumbles.]

[Jadewing didn't see the human at first, not until he gets out from under the panel. When he does though, his reaction is almost as startled as Garrod's, abruptly releasing the panel as the human yelps and falls back into the cockpit below. Good thing for him it's locked open by this point.]

A human?! The frag...?

Agh, ow...!

[That's about as much as Jadewing will hear from Garrod at the moment. It'll be a bit before he tries to haul himself up again. Maybe. .... ]

... Hey, you okay there, kid? Need some help?

[Because while he hadn't seen the spectacular crash, it'd been kind of obvious something had happened.]

[Eris claps, as if she only saw a really funny performance.] Are you still alive?

[It's a little while before he can respond, but by then he's obviously out of the cockpit, at least.]

Just a little bruised...

[A little, he says. He tries not to wince too much when he shifts in place, his free arm curling around the left side of his torso.]

...don't think my Gundam's going anywhere though. I'll need help getting it back into the Haven.

[Yeah, guess who's not amused, Eris.]

Yeah, sorry to disappoint.

[Jadewing shifts to peer into the cockpit. From the looks of the controls, this wasn't a real mech at all, just some kind of... exo-suit on circuit boosters, or something. That made him feel a little foolish for taking the time to disarm it, but there was no help for that now.

With the strange exo-suit established as non-sentient, his attention turned to the human. Normally he wouldn't care about him, but it was kind of his fault that Garrod had fallen back again, so...]

Hey... uh... you need a medic, or anything?

[There was no obvious damage to the human that he could see, but still, he sounded like he was in pain. And after a crash like that, Jadewing would be astonished if the human wasn't damaged. Though was there even a medic around who knew how to fix human injuries? Gah, squishies... how do they work?]

[Stubbornly, Garrod does make the attempt to clamber out again, although he probably wouldn't mind an extra hand if Jadewing was willing. He clings to the edge of the hatch, a pained look on his face as he tries very hard not to fall back down again.]

Grgh.... I'm...I'm not sure. I think I might've broken something... My Gundam's out of power too.

[Cliffjumper quirks an upper optic ridge at that, snorting.]

Looks like more than a "little", but as long as ya ain't bleedin' out and you've got help back, anything else can be fixed I think. [Well, there would be bruised or maybe punctured organs, maybe, if he remembers correctly, but hopefully there was nothing like that.]

That suit of yours though... how big is it? [He flashes a grin, slightly dry.] Dunno if I can help ya on my own with that or not.

G-garrod!? GARROD! Garrod, come in!

[YELLING at his comm even as he's bolting from the precinct, prepared to drop into vehicle mode and speed out there.]

[He doesn't say anything more on that, but he does nod.]

Ah...it's a little over fifty feet.

[It might be an uncomfortable span of 10-15 minutes before he'll get a response. By then, Garrod's gotten out of the cockpit, with or without Jadewing's assistance.]

...Deckard?

[No one ever is upon meeting her.]

I'm sure there will be more occasions, you ca try harder the next time.

What was all that about?

If it involves a repeat performance of this, I think I'll pass, thanks.

My Gundam lost power before I could get back to the Haven.

So that's what this thing is... Puts the exo-suits the humans have back home to shame; I thought is was a real mech.

[He debates over aiding the human in his efforts to climb out of his Gundam's cockpit. But that would mean touching him, and ugh squshies are so... squishy. If he doesn't help, though, they might blame him if the human did turn out to be seriously damaged.

With a bit of a sigh, he extended a hand, crooking his thumb in such a way that the human could brace against it and clamber out more easily. The other fingers of that hand curled slightly behind the human, ensuring that if he did fall again, he wouldn't fall far.]

I may be able to do something about the Gundam, assuming it runs on energon, but I don't know the first thing about repairing humans. What do you think you broke? And are there any medics around who know enough about human repairs to fix it?

Sorry for the confusion, but then before here, I didn't know that there were living robots around... Personally I think we'd be a lot better off without these things, but so long as people are wanting to fight...

[He blinks, but doesn't turn down the assistance, and having that extra support is a lot of help.]

Uh...well my Gundam's power hasn't been converted to the local energy source yet. I guess this would be my hint to get that done.

I'm not much of a medical expert either, but I'm thinking my ribs took the worst of it. Not sure if there are any human doctors, at least none from the few humans I've talked to around here, anyway.

... [Have a snort, probably choked laughter and Cliffjumper shaking his helm.]

Right. Definitely gonna need something to haul it on if I'm gonna help ya. I'm strong, but dragging fifty feet of metal around ain't somethin' I'm capable of.

[Frowning thoughtfully, Cliffjumper shrugged.]

Some of the bigger mechs around here could probably do it on their own, though, and definitely with something to haul your suit on.
