Number VII: A brand new me is coming out tonight... [Action/Video]
[For five days now, Axel's been asleep in Knockout's clinic. Seeing such a normally dynamic individual so still and quiet, motionless except for his soft breathing, is probably strange to most people. One thing has changed about him since he was laid there on the bed, though; a day or two in, the small purple markings on his face mysteriously vanished.
Now, a few days later, he finally stirs again, his eyes opening for the first time since he fell asleep on Ven's glider. He blinks a few times, staring up at the ceiling in confusion before memory catches up to him. He's back here again. And he's still Lea. He grins, sitting up, though a little stiffly after those five days.]
I'm back...
****************************************************************
[A little while later, a familiar face appears on the comms... though slightly altered.]
Hello there, Haven! Guess who's back? And better than ever! Why, you may ask? Because I'm now 100% me again!
You probly know me as Axel, but now? The name's Lea. Got it memorized?

LOL okay, his reaction's not THIS OVER-THE-TOP, but it's the closest to his SHOCK as I can get
[SO. MUCH. OMG! at that!]
But . . . how can . . . how can a human lose their heart?
Do you mind me asking what happened?
[Considering a Brave Police's "heart" is what keeps him from being just a nonsentient, non-feeling drone robot, this is HUGE to Deckard.]
XD
For starters, I'm not talking about the physical kind of heart that pumps blood, just in case that's what you were thinking. That's a totally different thing. See, where I'm from, every complete being is made up of three basic components. There's the body, which is pretty self-explanatory; the soul, which is what animates you and keeps you alive; and the heart, which let's you feel things, form connections to people, and generally holds everythign about you that makes you you rather than just another living body.
With me so far?
no subject
[He nods, solemn.]
That's actually what I thought you meant, yes. It's like with us Brave Police. We're not alive in the same sense that you are, or even the Cybertronians. I'm just a robot . . . but I'm a robot with a heart. I am able to experience and express emotions. I'm capable of feelings just the same as a human. It's what sets me and my team apart from the the rest of the robots in our world, which would be considered drones by Cybertronian standards.

Doesn't surprise me. Back home, there's apparently a wooden puppet with a heart. I mean, I haven't seen him personally, but I've heard of him. Dunno if there are any others like him, though.
Anyway, back in my world there's also creatures called Heartless, creatures made of pure darkness. Normally, they live in the Realm of Darkness, which is separate from the Realm of Light where most everyone else lives, but thanks in part to the events that wound up costing me my heart, the barriers between the realms were weakened enough that they were able to come through into the Realm of Light.
Heartless are drawn to the darkness in people's hearts, and with only a few exceptions, there's at least a bit of darkness in every heart. Heartless reproduce by attacking people and stealing their hearts. Once outside the body any any defenses of light they might have had, the heart is consumed by darkness and turns into a new Heartless. Which will then attack more people, steal more hearts, make more heartless, and so on.
That's the most common way for someone to lose their heart, anyway, though there are other ways for it to happen, as you'll find out.

[He'd really rather not, thanks.]
Anyway . . . I had no idea that it's possible for one's heart to be separated out from their body. But if yours was consumed and transformed, how did you get it back?
no subject
[He thought that much was obvious.]
Neither did I, til it happened to me. But there's a bit more I need to go over before any explanation of how I got it back is going to make sense.
See, normally, when a person's heart is taken, the rest of them just fades away, since there's nothing holding them to the Realm of Light any more. But if the person's heart was especially strong, sometimes you get a kind of by-product; the empty shell that was left behind. That's what you call a Nobody. A thing that was never meant to exist, that can't exist by any of my world's natural laws, but somehow does. Sort of.
Unlike Heartless- which act purely on instinct, like wild animals- Nobodies can think think and plan. They have, or at least had, a clearly defined hierarchy, with the most powerful group of Nobodies commanding all the others. Only that group had hearts strong enough to retain their human form and memories as Nobodies. They called themselves Organization XIII, or just the Organization.
That's what Axel was. My Nobody, and formerly Organization XIII's number VIII. How I got that way, though, and how I was recompleted that's kind of a long story, though, so I want to make sure you got all that first; I know it can be pretty confusing stuff. It confuses me sometimes, and I've lived it.
no subject
[He's certainly trying.]
Listen, Lea, if it's that long of a story, would you like to meet somewhere? Sit down over coffee and energon or something, maybe?
[He just wants you to be comfortable.]
no subject
Not much for coffee, but sure, sitting down somewhere sounds good. The bar OK? You wouldn't fit in the human-sized part, but you could always put me on the table or something in the part that's your size.
no subject
[That gets a laugh.]
If you wouldn't mind that, sure. I can come pick you up if you'd like.

That's right! Good to hear. I'll be there shortly.
[Video] > [Action]
[Turns off the communicator and heads outside, leaning against the wall just next to the Hub's main entrance while he waits for Deckard.]
[Action]
[Soon enough, a black and white patrol car pulls up, unfolding to reveal Deckard. The tall robot crouches on a knee to better talk to his friend.]
Lea, good afternoon. I hope I've not been keeping you waiting.
Re: [Action]
Though I kinda realized a flaw in our plan to drive to the Hub's bar from here while I was waiting. Namely that we're already at the Hub so we may as well just walk. Though I wouldn't mind a lift anyway, if you want to get there a little sooner, since you're gonna have to give me a boost up onto the table anyway.
[Read: If you want to pick him up and carry him through the robot-scale bar entrance you totally can.]
[Action]
That can certainly be arranged.
[Once Lea's on his hand, Deckard lifts him to offer his shoulder to sit on. Yuuta used to ride there all the time, and he…kind of misses it, actually.]
Re: [Action]
Alright. ready when you are, big guy.
[Action]
even if he was also originally meant to not be sentient and his handler wouldn't have been riding on his robot's shoulder like they were friends.][They head into the bar and Deckard goes to a "mixed" table – one that's sized for Cybertronians but already has a set-up for humans taking up one end. He slides smoothly into a chair and, if Lea doesn't hop down right away, offers his hand again under the man's feet. He'll then wave a server drone over.]
Re: [Action]
Once Deckard has ordered and the drone has left, he gets down to the business at hand.]
OK, so... you've got the basic background, so was there any particular place you wanted me to start with this explanation? Or just 'from the beginning'?
