I want to talk to the Brave Police. Right now.
[Kagerou what have we said about locking your messages like this.]
[Apparently all those talks still fly out the window when you're upset. Oops. And boy, does he sound upset.]

[But he complies, finally.]
Why?
[Video] 1/2
Because I didn't know. Before coming here, every instance I know of that Shadowmaru's been grievously damaged, he's always been repaired back to full without issue. The last case we were on before I was brought here, I came far too close to losing my entire damned team.
Except for Shadowmaru, who was protecting the boss and our suspect well outside of the blast zone.
[His optics are intense. It came up at mentioning that instance. He HATES remembering how close he came to losing almost everyone
never mind that he himself had been nearly killed again too. But then...]2/2
I remember Shadowmaru telling me, back when he first arrived here, that he was from a time ahead of me, just like I'm ahead of Gunmax and Power Joe and McCrane.
[He looks up, and there's an underlying grief he's trying to bury. He's always known that the chances of him losing one or more of his teammates - irretrievably (like with Kagerou) - is a very, terribly real possibility.]
Shadowmaru told you that he's killed at some point back in our original world?

[He pauses -- his teeth unconsciously bared, posture tense and angry and hurting.]
He told me that.
He wouldn't lie to me.

Kagerou, I'm tired of being accused of being angry at you and lecturing when I'm not. I think I'm allowed to be angry in general about nearly or actually losing someone who means a lot to me too. And I didn't say he lied to you. I said I can't confirm or tell you any details because for me it hasn't happened. I can't withhold information from you that I didn't know myself.
If you want to yell at someone for not telling you something sooner when it's something they knew, yell at him. Don't take it out on me.
[His voice is even throughout, but this is one of those times that he's frustrated enough that if he thought throwing a punch would solve things better than his words can seem to manage to, he would.
Even if it didn't work on Gunmax either.]no subject
No -- don't tell me how to act toward him. I know him better than any of you.

[No. Stop. Count to ten. You're the eldest, Deckard, and the leader. ONE of you needs to keep level-headed.]
He's silent for a moment as he tries to gather his own thoughts. Finally...]
Kagerou, you're so wound up right now that you're not hearing all of what I'm saying. That's not a lecture, that's just an observation.
You already know people don't all come from the same points in time, even when we come from the same realities. Think about that.
After the submarine went down and you came here, I continued for another six months. I've had experiences, things happened to me, that you wouldn't know about because you weren't there. You'd already come here. This is the same thing. Now I'm here, but Shadowmaru continued back there for a time longer before joining us. He's been through things that I don't know about because I wasn't there for them.
That's what I mean.

[It's only marginally effective.]
Then. When you go back.
You stop it from happening. If that's true, and it hasn't happened yet... you stop it.

[He nods, expression grim. He's not going to promise something he doesn't know he'll be able to keep. But he'll say what he knows would be the case with or without Kagerou's insistence.]
I will do absolutely everything in my power, Kagerou. I give you my word on that.
no subject
I accept that.
