Hey, so I realized something sort of important. Well, besides the whole fuel issue for McCrane, Deckerd and me, plus the fact the humans probably are sorely missing what it's like to have a bath and I myself am regretting the lack of polish--

But, no, besides all that. I checked the date and I realized: OH NO! I am in dire need of fireworks.

So give me a ring if you happen to spot any. This is terribly important! It's for fancy Earth reasons, I swear.

Fireworks?

Tch, it's rough being the only American sometimes.

There's a holiday coming up and I want to celebrate. I don't care where we are, and things have been rough on some of us. We might as well enjoy something.

I don't know if you technically count...

[Well. Perhaps.]

Gunmax, if we don't concentrate all of our efforts on finding fuel, we might--

[They might die. He frowns.]

How long will this take?

Shh, accept it.

[He folds his arms. Do not attempt to dissuade him, McCrane.]

The fireworks? Not long. Maybe an hour tops?

...Look, I know what I'm asking. I can siphon fuel from Gunbike if we need to. Much as I'd hate to do that to her, we can.

Well, you do know the customs...

[He watches you, anyhow. The decision is ultimately up to Deckerd, but...he doesn't know if he approves, anyhow. Still, he can understand wanting a distraction.]

[Wait, to her? Okay, everything can wait for a moment, he has got to ask this.]

Gunbike is a she?

Sure she is. Though I guess I didn't really realize that til lately.

[His talking with Drift about the possibilities of different times comes back to him....but...maybe this is simply something he didn't know about Gunmax.]

Can she talk?

[He doesn't think so, but...he really needs to have it confirmed.]

[He laughs sharply at the suggestion.]

Well, Chief sure is convinced she can. I'm still working out how to understand her the way he does.

She must not speak english, then.

[It's his way of breaking the ice...since you get a small smile for it. This was obviously a theoretical 'she,' instead of an actual 'she' the way Elita was.]

I do not want to take her fuel, unless the situation becomes dire, and the situation...

[He is worried. He is really worried about this.]

It is becoming dire. Can you save the fireworks until after we have found fuel? As a celebration?

[He wants to compromise, because he doesn't really want to deny you your fun.]

Not so much, no. [He cracks a grin in return.]

[He's not fond of the idea of emptying out Gunbike just so they can survive. But, honestly, the situation is bad, and he knows that.]

Well, I already got a few people worked up about it.

...Look, I'll figure it out. Okay? I know we're in a tight spot. I get that.

[There is a long, long pause this time.]

[He trusts you. You can seem unrefined, but you have always come through for them.]

I suppose that while you're looking for gasoline...you might find some fireworks, as well?

And when you find them, maybe I could come and look for gasoline nearby.

Near fireworks would be an unfortunate place to find gasoline, I admit.

[That earns a low laugh from Gunmax. He smiles broadly, a little more genuine than his typical smirk.

He isn't sure how to say it without making it... not sappy, but he's truly grateful. He'll have to make this up to McCrane somehow.]

Yeah, probably would be.

But we'll be careful, right?

[Hearing that you'll be careful makes him feel a lot better.]

[Better to not test Ratchet's repairing capabilities just yet!]
