[For a while after the pages thing, Four found it hard to get himself interested in anything. After all the chasing he had done, he's still all alone. His family isn't here, and he wonders if they'll ever be here. He knows that if he doesn't give himself something to do, he'll slowly drive himself crazy by sitting in a corner and going through every moment he had spent with each of his family members.

It doesn't take him long to give himself a project. He has made a few friends here, so maybe it's time to appreciate them. This is way better than sitting around and moping all day.]

I want to know everyone's point of view on beauty! Learning what other people think of the same topic is always fascinating. What do you find beautiful?

Don't you think that a personal question? [Whoever you are.]

Some people like red hearts. [She's making a 'heart' shape with her talons.] Some people like fast cars. [Doesn't sound like she does.] Some think really big guns just glorious!

Yes? I can't collect information if I don't understand your point of view. So anything can be beautiful. But what about you?

Me? I suppose you could call me beautiful. Have to keep up with all the most handsome Decepticons.

You do have a very pretty face! And your shade of purple contrasts well with your wings. I think you count as beautiful.

I suppose I should say 'thanks'; one might say the deco's fair camouflage in certain environments. But, don't you think not just what's on the surface?

Just on the surface? Oh no, a person's inner beauty matters too! But I can appreciate the outer beauty as well if I want. What's your name? We haven't talked before.

Inner beauty? You mean if they have a bright spark, or neatly configured circuitry, or a powerful processor. Yeah, I guess that's beauty, too.

Call me Slipstream. An' you can have your view of beauty just like anyone else. But understand, outer beauty can be more than just the surface, too. Like, form.

[Slipsteam seems to be taking things a little too literally here.]

You don't have a very romantic view of the world, do you?

Why would I see the world as some fictional story about courtship and chivalry and all that?

Romance has more than one meaning. There's romantic love, which most people are familiar with, and there's the way one can view the world. Seeing the world as the beautiful, exciting place that it is is considered to be 'romantic'.

[There's visible hesitation as Slipstream processes this. She's not sure the word translated the same way in Decepticon dialects, but she learned a form of English on Earth.]

Do you mean a romantic philosophy?

[That seems to fit with 'view the world'.]

How should I know? It's not exactly like I took a class about it.

I suppose I am talking philosophy! I find that I've been doing it a lot here on Cybertron. I guess being able to talk to people does that. There's no harm in learning right?

No problems with learning.

So, what is romantic?

Beautiful things. On both a symbolic and physical level. Tragedy is romantic too sometimes I suppose.

Tragic? [OK, so....]

The Decepticon Cause could be pretty romantic, about now. Noble freedom fighters, oppressed by a corrupt regime, exiled from their homeworld, on a quest for a sacred artifact.

Only to be done in by a maintenanace bot and.... [What's that thing about a flaw in some character?] vaulting ambition!

Now that sounds like an interesting story! And it does sound romantic in its own way. A little off topic but... what's the story behind your war?

The Autobot and Decepticon factions had always had differing philosophies, but I guess things started to lead to The Great War, when that Autobot, Ultra, got the Decepticon Registration Act passed. Megatron was already leader of the Decepticons then, like 12 million stellar cycles ago, and he published some manifesto in response.

He's not the greatest leader, but he is good at making speeches. [She'll give Megatron that. Slipstream is hardly a historian, but she knows Starscream is a veteran of the war, and he hadn't really started to outwardly plot against Megatron until they started to search for the AllSpark.]

The war wasn't official until later, when the issue of the AllSpark couldn't be resolved otherwise. The Autobots were the fools who sent a super-powerful artifact off world, where anyone could find it! Don't know why they didn't want to use the AllSpark to bring life to Cybertron.

Things went back and forth with both factions having wins and losses. Autobot scientists are always developing tools for war! Space bridges to move troops. The Omega Sentinels!

Decepticons took the last of those out in the Battle for Iacon, but the Autobots had already off-lined so many of us! If Megatron hadn't spent so much time searching for the AllSpark - splitting his focus from the war - things probably would have gone differently! [Or maybe that's Starscream talking.]

The Tyrest Accord was signed after that. [She frowns, head bowed slightly.] I supposed it was a bad decision, just agreeing to exile, away from our homeworld! But, maybe if Megatron hadn't agreed to exile in exchange for amnesty, continued fighting would have destroyed all of Cybertron, and those stellar cycles couldn't have been used for rebuilding.

That's what happened on some other Cybertrons, apparently. If that had happened, would there have even been hope of returning with the AllSpark to reclaim our homeworld?

[Now, Slipstream's not sure whether or not she approves of any of Starscream or Megatron's past decisions. And, since she's pretty sure Optimus took the AllSpark - most of it - to Cybertron, with Megatron prisoner, she doesn't see there being much hope for the Decepticons. At least the imprisoned Decepticons had managed to set foot on their homeworld.]
