[video] Such a new soul

[The video starts with a rather grisly scene, there is a robot on the junk pile, oil leaking from a large gash in his shoulder, as he looks up the camera, oil also seeping from the corner of his mouth.]

Can someone tell me what this is? Is this what happens when we die?

[His speech is clear though a little slow as if he is searching for all the things to say, he also doesn’t move at all, though the wound is sparking dangerously.]

I don’t think I was good enough to go anywhere nice when I died. Is this some kind of strange kind of dream? I don’t suppose the kid, the Boss, is here, is he?

[He looks quite pitiful in his own way, though he is holding himself a proudly as he can, slowly dying on the junk pile.]

He's... normally it's Deckerd, but when he's combined with the J-roader, they call him J-decker.

[He just knows how the names work, not why they are, so he can't really explain it.]

I'm in the middle of a bunch of junk, and scrap. Piles of it.

He nods. I... Deckerd is familiar to me.

[Wow, Deckerd's a combiner, who knew?]

Can you pan the video around a bit? And catch the horizon? Maybe I can get a more specific location...

[He does so, though it's a bit slow and shaky, the sound of his arm attempting to function around the damage in his shoulder fairly clear.

It shows an area of the Junk Pile, the light from Solus' temple to the left of him.]

Can you find it?

[He's having a hard time doing more then he has already, feeling the movement push more oil through him, and subsequently out the wound.]

YES! I can. I will be there shortly.

I...didn't catch your name? [He should have something to call out if he needs to.]

Oh, good.

I... don't have one. I'm a Chieftain, I suppose you could call me that.

You don't? [He tries not to look confused and horror struck, but well, he fails a little.]

We'll use Chieftain for now then, but you should think of what you'd like to have.

[Then he remembers he's supposed to be saving yoru life.]

And with that he takes to the air and jets off to the Junk Pile near Solus's Quadrant.

There were a lot of us, too many to bother with naming us all. I will... try to think of one.

[What made a name? He wasn't really sure.]

A lot of you? Well, all the more reason to have a name! To distinguish yourself from the rest.

[He's not certain if you're a self-aware individual, but you have life preservation instincts, so he's going to treat you like a person until proven otherwise.]

[And he does.]

I don't think those that made us cared to distinguish us from each other. We are all just Chieftain.

[He is having a little difficulty grasping the 'why' of having a name, but he's trying to understand.]

Do you feel different, separate from them?

If so you should have something to describe your distinctiveness.

We were all made the same, with identical Super A.I. chips, but I am me. I think we are all different from each other... just a bit.

Sorry I don't know how to describe it, a lot of this, especially the realization of it, is new to me.

Then you deserve a unique identifier, a designation that soley your own.

That would be nice. I wonder if it will change anything to have my own name.

It might make you feel more separate and unique. A sense of self will come to you slowly, as your experiences also make you uniquely you.
