[This isn't where he was supposed to be. He was on the roof just a second ago. Why... why is he in the temple now? It doesn't make any sense.]

[And then the feeling of loss sets in. Considering he can no longer recall the events leading up to, and including the fight with Overlord, he can only assume this loss is of memory itself. The most important thing he has...]

[... needless to say, when it finally occurs to him to grab the Link and make a call, he sounds utterly frantic.]

Someone -- please. I don't know what happened. I...

[He actually needs a moment to calm down enough to speak.]

... My memory is... there is something missing. I can feel -- I can feel it!

Please. Help.

[This is the most distressing thing in the world... at least until someone tells him he was dead a minute ago.]

[Wing what are you talking about? That's not the issue here.]

I don't know how I got here. I don't remember -- I don't... remember.

I need help. I need someone.

Kagerou... but--you went to fight Overlord... And...

[And then your distress starts making sense.]

Kagerou I'm sorry. I don't know what happened. I mean...you..._died, fighting Overlord...with the others.

I can only guess that...and whatever the reason is that you're alive again...is why you can't remember.

[You'll have to pardon him for the broken speech, he's more than a little stunned by all this. He's been mourning you for a week, and now you're back...]

Kagerou I'm here for you if you need someone. Always.

[He jerks -- as if Wing somehow reached through the Link and smacked him.]

I... no. No, I wouldn't do that. I told Perceptor -- I told him I wouldn't go near that thing.

[Excuse him though, while he tries to crawl backward from the video feed, and just ends up knocking into the altar. He can't deal with this. Memory loss, "dying", breaking promises he'd made ... ]

[It's just too much.]

I can't -- I don't -- this... it's not happening.

[He cringes just a little, normally he has better tact but this is not exactly a common situation with standard etiquette.]

You went with the other Brave Police to help fight. He had Perceptor...you were trying to save him.

[His expression deepens further into concern.]

Kagerou, it's okay, whatever's happened, you're safe. Do you need me? I'll come...

Save--? But he's... is he okay? Is he alive? I don't remember any of that!

[He ends up wrapping his arms around himself, hands pressed to the sides of his head.]

I'm not -- I don't know! Why can't I remember anything!

[This is pretty much Panic Mode. Coherent answers are a thing of the past.]

Yes he was rescued. He was badly injured but he was saved. [No need to go into the gory details.]

We'll figure it okay, I'll help you. I'm coming oer there okay? We can work it out together.

[He doesn't really wait for an awnser, he pulls the coordinates from the feed and assuming there's no huge objections he starts on him way.]

Rescued. He's all right? He's... he'll be all right?

[It's something to fixate on, at least. Something better than the gap in his mind.]

[And it's probably a good thing Wing doesn't wait for an answer. He's too busy hunching over, curling in on himself. Because that's safer. More protected.]

Yes. He will be. [Physically speaking. The rest...will be much harder.]

[He's out the doors already, jetting his way to Trion's temple.]

And so will you Kagerou.

No, I won't! I'm not okay! I'm missing pieces!

[He'll stay put, curled up in his little space by the altar.]

[Kagerou's tone touches Wing deeply, and he's maybe a little bit careless on the way there. Alpha Trion might have something to say later about screaming jet engines so close to his temple. Or...in his temple, whoops.]

[He transforms and touches down near Kagerou, reaching out with comforting hands to pull the other mech to him. He doesn't even give it a second thought. Even his voice is quiet and calm.]

_{We'll find them Kagerou.}

[He flinches, visibly, trying to move away at first, hearing only the sound of engines and the footsteps. Something about the touch, though, is apparently familiar enough to calm the initial response.]

[Though, he doesn't relax.]

You can't. Data can't be recovered like that! I'm not like you!

[Later, he'll likely apologize for the outburst. But later. Now it's the only thing he can make come out of his mouth that isn't pure panicked sound.]

I'm not alive. I'm only data. Only data that's missing.

[He pauses at that flinch but doesn't pull away.]

Kagerou. We can ask questions, find out what happened.

[It won't really be necessary, Wing fields it all calmly with an air of support and kindness.]

That's not true. Kagerou. Data doesn't feel the way you do. It doesn't get upset like this. [He makes a soft hushing sound against the other's helm, stroking the shivering wings gently.] Data doesn't make friends. You're my friend and I love you. _{Never forget that.}

That. Will that bring it back?

[There's so much hope in the stammered words, it's choking.]

[He shakes his head, the motion jerky, desperate.]

No, that's all they said I was. Data -- memories -- they're all I have of me. How...?

[But something in the contact, and the physical reassurance, starts easing the fear to something tolerable. Or, at least, workable.]
