[Someone has been through this before. Someone knows this drill. Someone has worked very, very hard to finally make it back to his Cybertron, only to find it all wrong. Again.

Someone probably has destroyed a few piles of junk in their anger.

However, someone also has paid attention to the communications on the network, and has ventured to the 'temples' that were mentioned, and has found them locked against him.

This someone is not surprised.]

Listen closely, and listen well.

[It is time to act. The feed opens with a closeup on Megatron's faceplates, optics blazing red, the scant remnants of gladiator paint still burned onto the metal.]

This is not where we belong, and I am done with this.

I am done with waking up to see an unfamiliar sun obscuring all-too-familiar stars. I am done with strangers being cast from world to world. I am done with mechs-who-would-be-gods so graciously patronizing us by allowing us to remain while simultaneously enforcing unethical segregation and I am done, finally, with the thwarting of destinies that I and my allies have slaved, toiled, and died to create.

[A single, pointed tooth is visible in the smirk that finally dawns on his face. His interdimensional portal had only worked, once, but with the right mechs he would see it to completion again. Immediately.]

Either I am Megatron, or I'm posing as him. How long do you think I'd last if it was the former? [He can't imagine a Decepticon who'd dare, even in his time.]

It's an interesting possibility, but there have been regimes that have employed body doubles to confuse the enemy. Especially if the leader was dead, or gravely ill.

Who doesn't know Impactor? He made the Wreckers what they were! Well, I mean, he didn't actually start them, but he was the one who really, you know, made them famous.

I am...aware...of this tactic. [He remembered the point in Axiom where there had been three of his bodies wandering around. It had been awkward, but useful at times.] However, you are speaking to the original.

I take it you have a great interest in the wrecker's exploits?

You know, technically if you were a clone, you wouldn't be able to tell you weren't the original.

If I am a clone, then my original is long gone. Would it matter, if I'm capable of just as much?

[Granted, the possibility that he might very WELL be a clone exists, and has bothered him for some time since his first death. It is not a pleasant thought.]

Only some? A mech with your knowledge must know more than some.

That's technically possible, unless you account for, you know, potential degradation from memory transfer or, you know, mismatched components. Like bodygloving, in a way....

No one has been able to detect a difference thus far, if one exists. If we start becoming paranoid about such things, however, nothing will get done.

Well, a chrono countdown like a preset date or something. It would be simple enough to make, really.

It was a secret meeting of a sort, yes. One which I'll tell you about in exchange for information on the Wreckers.

I'm not a medic, but something like that would probably be kind of noticeable.

I don't...I don't know if I can do that. [ He means it literally: he designs weapons. He's not sure he can do anything else.]

[Whatever the case, he'd have it taken care of.]

Um. [That sort of tone where he doesn't want to say what he's about to say because he figures his listener's going to get mad.] But you're a Decepticon.

[He frowns. Is it an ethical violation to hand over the Declassifieds?] I could tell you some, I guess? But, I mean, most of it you probably heard about. You know. From Valve and so on.

I am. I'm a kind of scientist.

[He'd hoped it wouldn't come to that. He frowns.]

And do you hate Decepticons?

[He hated Autobots, but it was nothing personal. Except when it was.] I don't know a Valve.

The work is with space bridges, but with fourth dimension added to the subspace to accommodate for the time and universe variables. [He'd gotten used to saying this. It made him feel significantly more knowledgeable about science and math than he'd previously been.] If you're not familiar with either, there is the additional power component that will need to be dealt with. This bridge is an enormous energy sink.

Surely you can contribute somewhere.

[A few decacycles ago, the answer would have been fast and clear. But that was before Aequitas. Before he learned the truth and everything he'd believed in had been shattered.]

I think I just...hate all the killing. [If nothing else, it's an honest answer.]

Oh. You. Right. He, uh, he was a Decepticon. Or, I guess will be. [He realizes, suddenly, how weird it must be for others talking to him, those who knew him as dead. It's a little weird.]

I, uh, I could take a look. [He winces, because he should have more of a qualm. But when you're pretty sure you're dying, and it doesn't even really matter here, sometimes you just want something to occupy your mind.]

Both sides have been guilty of that.

And while I'm not so naive to imagine I could return to my time and save everybody, I can still try to save some. [Mostly Decepticons.] That is my goal.

[He locks this transmission, and forwards the schematic.]

Which means, ironically, trusting the very enemy that I, myself, despise. However, I need all the help that I can get.

I've been responsible for that, too. Just indirectly.

[Which, though he hated Decepticons for their killig, for the fact that each time he lost a friend it hurt less and less...he's realized he was no better. Creating weapons like Gideon's Glue made him no better than anyone else. Just...more of a coward.]

[He goes quiet for a long moment, flipping through the schematics. He's only partly paying attention, aware he's been addressed, so he looks up after a moment.] Why do you despise us? [It seems a fair question.]

[This is a surprise to Megatron, given the mech's personality. However, it makes a degree of sense. Much as he used scientists to great purpose...the Autobots must have done the same.]

You engineered weapons.

[And suddenly, the 'glue' he remembered was much more insidious.]

I believe I made that obvious in my writings.

How Autobots were the enforcers, the perpetrators, the defenders of each atrocity committed against the working class.

It's difficult to come to terms with those who massacred miners for speaking out, wouldn't you say?

...._Yes.

I told you. I might not be much good with, you know...this stuff.

[To Ironfist's credit, he did destroy the glue and the formula. He thought.]

I never massacred anyone. [Even Babu Yar wasn't his fault. It wasn't. Though he still felt, though Aequitas still whispered, that it was.] I just wanted to be an engineer.

It has a trajectory and a power source. You're more qualified than most.

[And think of the weapons you could make using subspace technology! Still. He'll play this game.]
