[Video] - Bugs bugs bugs, but they glow, so it's like Christmas spirit?
[The video comes on to Jetfire frowning thoughtfully at one of his hands, held up and... apparently crawling with pinpoints of moving lights. He shakes it, and there's a veritable cloud of winking lights exploding in all directions.
Some of them fly past the screen close enough to reveal they're tiny, dragonfly-like metal bugs. That glow.]
There was an accident, and the thirty of these that I had contained in my lab and were developing were let out. It seems their replication matrix is working, because they're certainly not thirty any longer.
I apologise if they are a... er, nuisance.
I am rather sure I can hazard a guess from a few cycles of observing that the replication matrix is working correctly though, since while they've become more as a response to the greater space available outside of the lab, I believe they're not replicating completely out of hand.
[He shakes his helm slowly, dislodging a crowd tiny bugs that has landed on his helm and nasal ridge.]
Hopefully they'll... spread outside of Haven soon.

Ah... no. [Crossing his arms, Jetfire shakes his helm. Despite this arguable success, he's hardly an intelligence matrix engineer, and something larger would require something more involved, more precise... He wouldn't want to risk it, really.]
I wasn't planning to, given that something this tiny have to, by size restrictions, remain simple. Anything larger would require more intricacy, complexity and thus a greater risk for errors, harmless or dangerous.

Ahh, yes. I am... familiar with the attitude. [Personally familiar, since it was an opinion he'd held himself once... when he'd been younger. He could say "when he'd been a Decepticon" and that would be true as well, but it wasn't until he'd been fully faced with what such an attitude would and could lead to that ethics and morals had woken up and he'd re-evaluated.]
I've seen what that can lead to, and prefer to be a bit more discerning about how far I go.
[Shaking his helm again, Jetfire shrugs as he considers the first point again.]
And given that we don't belong in this reality, I doubt us dying here would be a positive influence as it would mean foreign sparks dispersing to wherever they go here... becoming a permanent fixture in a way we presently aren't even if we're still affecting Cybertron by merely being here.

Given that such an attitude usually informs a wider view of things, definitely. [It's not easy to admit, but at least his was always fairly contained... And he grew away from it.] And yes... though getting away with performing ethically questionable science doesn't mean you still haven't done it.
[A frown on his faceplates, Jetfire leans back against the workbench he's resting against, ignoring the small amount of glowing bugs settling on his rounded shoulders and on top of his helm.]
Indeed. Guesswork, but there's a few main possibilities; either time does not match up, and it could go by both very fast, or very slow. Slowly enough we might in the end return with not much time passed for us. The worst case scenario would be one where time in our own realities pass extremely quickly compared to this one.
[A brief wave around them to exemplify, before he folds his arms instead of leaning them against the surface of the workbench behind him.]
Another would be time passing as it does here, which is more or less as bad as the fast-time scenario. The most desirable variations would be time either not moving at all, a relative "freeze" if not all individuals belonging there aren't where they should be... Or, er... splinter timelines being created.
[The frown deepends and Jetfire's optics darkens.]
Which means that there'd be one reality where we would be gone, but we would doubtfully ever realise that, returning instead to one that would match up with what we remember, and how things should be; us returning to the moment we left.

I believe It's more about asking yourself if will be able to live with what you did rather than if it's ethical or not doing certain things. When we are at War we often find our ethics compromised.
[Knock out is free from bugs, mostly because he locked himself in his room and crushed all the little pest that dared to get in and bother him.]
That would be really really bad, indeed. If that's the case then perhaps I won't even have a planet go to back anymore.

Ah, yes... [Then he frowns.] Though the difference between those positions was exactly partly why I... er, changed my attitude and where I was at the time the change happened. I didn't need to do the former any more.
[Compared to some other continuities, the Autobots from Jetfire's universe is a lot more... nice.]
And I think we're all hoping on either time moving so slowly as to not matter, or a "time freeze". A splinter-universe being created would mean we'd not be affected, but anyone from the reality that splintered and which we disappeared from would certainly be.

[Even if Starscream had been... very angry, which in turn had frustrated Jetfire, but they hadn't been able to kill. Trust had been harder to gain, though.]
The different points from which some of us have been taken from out various universes does hopefully imply a time freeze. Otherwise each and every one of us would be pulled from various splinter time-lines, which seems... overly complicated.
[Jetfire frowns at that. It's always better to go with as simple an explation as possible, since that is usually the correct one.]

Mm, I suppose, but my frame didn't look much like this at the time I switched sides. [In fact, it'd been decidedly more... graceful, if no less powerful in its flight capabilities.] That came a lot later, but chasing after traitors that don't know much... er, technically anyway, would've been a waste of resources.
[He might not have known much of military operations but he did know of a lot of scientific projects... as well as the weapons he'd been working on.

Hopefully so. Of course, if I'm not at least in the reality I'm from, Earth has been a burned wasteland for over a year by now.

I've been upgrading and modifying my frame for my function and effectivity for a long while now.
[He shrugs, and then his optics narrow a little as he thinks back on that.]
Ours by association. A... super-powered clone finally had its systems overwhelmed by the solar fusion generator it was powered by, and was going to explode. I was on my way of stopping him when I... and Starscream, got pulled elsewhere.
[A simplified explanation, but it's the easier one than bringing up apparent powering-up by an apparent strange form of energon (perhaps), and all the little bits implying something a lot less straight-forward.]
