[Video] - Bugs bugs bugs, but they glow, so it's like Christmas spirit?

[The video comes on to Jetfire frowning thoughtfully at one of his hands, held up and... apparently crawling with pinpoints of moving lights. He shakes it, and there's a veritable cloud of winking lights exploding in all directions.

Some of them fly past the screen close enough to reveal they're tiny, dragonfly-like metal bugs. That glow.]

There was an accident, and the thirty of these that I had contained in my lab and were developing were let out. It seems their replication matrix is working, because they're certainly not thirty any longer.

I apologise if they are a... er, nuisance.

I am rather sure I can hazard a guess from a few cycles of observing that the replication matrix is working correctly though, since while they've become more as a response to the greater space available outside of the lab, I believe they're not replicating completely out of hand.

[He shakes his helm slowly, dislodging a crowd tiny bugs that has landed on his helm and nasal ridge.]

Hopefully they'll... spread outside of Haven soon.

[ He looks annoyed. Navi, his robotic bird, is perched on his shoulder, and she's got two bugs on either side of here head, probably attracted to her little glowing eyes. ]

They shouldn't be. While they're obviously larger for you [Hand-sized, in fact.] they shouldn't be large enough to be an hazard, and I didn't equip them with weapons... or even include anything of the sort in their limited amount of scripts.

[Jetfire shakes his helm, not even using "A.I" because they don't have that. They have a set number of limited routines and he'd checked and double-checked that none of them could accidentally turn into developing any sort of weapons as a precaution.]

They're not a hazard as-is, but you never know if something around here's gonna try and eat you. Between the bird and my ship, I wanted to check in, make sure I'm not gonna fall out of the sky suddenly.

Starting small seemed safer, and I am not going to attempt something with a more complicated frame or computer matrix layout.

I am curious as to what these are being developed for.

[ Have a somewhat annoyed knight, being swarmed by a bunch of these.. metal dragonflies as she is venturing through Vector's quadrant to get a view of these Badlands she has heard so much about. She's not annoyed at the creator, but that doesn't mean she's not curious as to the purpose of these things.

Surely they have something of a purpose rather than flying around and glowing? ]

The beginning of a basic natural system. They don't consume energon, but rather what... well, I suppose could be compared to waste products. It was surprisingly simple to make them capable of getting the energy they needed out of that.

Given that the planet is otherwise empty, it was an... ah, attempt at giving more life within a natural pattern.

[Jetfire shrugs, dipping his helm in apology. She does seem to be rather... mobbed. Not that he has any idea why they'd do that merely because she's getting close to the outer edge of Haven.]

I know it's not much help, but if I'd had the chance to release them under more controlled methods and fully tested the replication matrix, this wouldn't... probably, have happened.

[Who knows that if he'd just released ten in the whole of Haven, they might still have found their way to Whirl.]

[Have a mildly put-out Seeker. But seriously . . . only mildly. Compared to other, far BIGGER things for him to be worried about right now? They're just shy of a welcome distraction. There's a line of glowing decoration along the top edge of each wing, and a cloud playing about the front of his canopy.]

I'm sorry I never made it to help with the lab door. Did Whirl behave himself? "Enough", at least?

I'd have made an explanation sooner, but I wanted to make sure it was an explanation I should provide, and not a watning with my apology.

And he did, yes, so it worked out well enough in the end.

[Jetfire can't quite keep the twitch of a grimace not obvious, but it's faint at least. He could have done without some of the things Whirl had suggested.]

I'm fine, thank you. Ideally this should've happened under more controlled circumstances... And there's been some worrying things happening, but at least we aren't having a repeat of the... er, Glyphless.

... Er, no. There shouldn't be. I don't think anyone else has had that issue, though perhaps the slight distance between your faceplates and the mask itself has a marginal temperature increase that they're, ah... attracted to.

[Jetfire shakes his helm slowly, then tilts it as he regards Tarn.]

[He might have paid attention to Starscream's flailing if only to make sure he didn't tip anything over or slam into something while doing all that. He did finally turn around, arms crossed and leaning back against the bench he'd been standing at however.]

If you'd actually listened to me when I said "wait a moment", this wouldn't have happened. Maybe if you just stand still for a bit they'll lose interest?

[He wasn't sure why they were so interested in people, but Starscream did have a fair few more swarming around him than Jetfire did at the moment.

"Jetfire's" bugs were sitting on or flying around his tucked-down wings, as well as clinging to the rounded sides of his helm.]

[Remarkably, Blackarachnia's bug free. However, she also seems to be inside a dome completely made up of blue webbing, junk and familiar glowing objects.

It seems that all the bugs that are trying to get to her are getting caught... like flies in a spiders web.]

The glowing? There are elements in the surface of their bodies that light up due to friction and use of energy. I could've added chemicals as well, but that would have taken away the simpleness of the construction and added possible complications.

[Frenzy holds up a human sized jar and shakes it, a couple of the little buggies rattling around inside. The poor bastards.] Do ya want any of 'em back? [Because he wants to put them in people's mouths when they're recharging/sleeping - assuming the bugs haven't all ready done this themselves.]

I can't claim to own them; the point was to let them out even if I wouldn't have done it this way, so no, I don't want them back.

[He has no idea what Frenzy wants to do with them, and while he understands they're annoying right now... He doesn't see the point of putting them in jars just to get them out of the way.]

There's too many of them for you to put all of the ones that annoy you in jars, however.
