So let me get this straight.

[Says the unfamiliar -- well, maybe unfamiliar to most -- silver Autobot lounging in a temple doorway. You heard it right, lounging. Apparently no one told him about the giant bug monsters.]

New Cybertron. A bunch of different -- [AIR QUOTES, LITERAL AIR QUOTES] -- "realities" flying around. None of us asked to be here... aaaaand we get to play construction equipment to these 'bots I've never even heard of?

Right, you know what? I'll pass.

When's the next shuttle home? I don't feel like getting my paint dirty.

[He looks as if he's about to turn the Link off entirely, but pauses. Oh, right.]

I'm guessing it's too much to hope anyone I know showed up too? Regardless... this is Sideswipe, shoot me your location and all that.

Sideswipe: out.

I suppose so. Though technically it'd be the Lambda that is exceedingly unhelpful, as, per definition, it's it and not me or any lack I might or might not possess, that is keeping us here.

[Jetfire shrugs, more like a shifting of his large shoulders than a fully expressed movement, his expression perfectly straight.]

The lack of equipment and data regarding the Lambda also makes it more or less impossible to even start to redress the problem.

[Jetfire's expression turns dry.]

That was, incidentally, what I was doing to gain the ability to get past the barrier the Lambda puts up. Normally, I am perfectly capable of reaching escape velocity on my own; here, the Lambda supposedly affects the space-time around Cybertron with it's presence and stops pretty much anything from escaping near orbit.

[Another shrug.]

Liege fitted me with modifications to allow me to get past said barrier, but there was an... ah, incidence. As soon as that is safely addressed, there'll be another attempt at getting the data needed, yes.

[And what are you doing, hot stuff?]

[Jetfire pauses, giving Sideswipe a slow, considering look before there's the faintest narrowing of his optics and the glow briefly strengthens. Not annoyed, no.

He's used to this type of behaviour, after all. The response...]

Not unless I have to. [Is prompt after that pause, and really something he'd usually expect to give Starscream, not this silver sassbucket on two wheels. Literally.]

I could, if you needed the elucidation.

[Yes, that was deliberate, though Jetfire's inquiring tilt and polite, nearly bland tone of voice would probably imply it might be less offensively meant.]

Then I don't need to further explain it, then.

[Great!]

Suffice to say, those of us capable, or with the knowledge, are trying as well as we can, but given those of us who've been here the longest has been here nearing a year...

[Pause, and Jetfire's optics narrow a shade.]

Which has nothing to do with laziness, but due to the delicate and difficult situation, and lack of resources.

As myself and several have pointed out, there's no way yet, regardless of any attempts.

[Jetfire shrugs, eyeing Sideswipe. If he was more easily stirred, Sideswipe's response may have aroused some apology, but given the snarkiness that had abounded earlier... Well.]

If there was, most of us wouldn't be present, as I doubt that no matter if we can help or not, that the Firstforged truly would prefer us remaining on their Cybertron.
angleofscience: (ttly explaining things - confused yet?)

They seem to have managed so far [the temples, at the least.] and I believe most of the work they purportely do we can't even assist with, since it apparently involves shaping Cybertron itself.

You may want to find something to do that interests you, however, given that we are stuck here for the forseeable future for now.

[Such an attitude.]
