[Video] [Transmission from Solian Temple] - Fifth Offense

Right, so. I hear we have a dance comin' up, and everybody needs formal wear for it. I also know that fabrics don't stand up well to all of us, f'r various reasons.

[Such as being too pointy, like him!]

So, figured I could I could assist with formal wear in some capacity. Been working on a few designs for hats, and if you'd prefer walking canes, just have t'tell me what design you'd like f'r the handle. Or, let me surprise you~

[He shifts the camera to show a pair of hats - one made of dull grey iron with leather cording, run through brushed steel grommets, the other made of copper, with accents made of bronze and thin iron 'feathers'.]

If you've got some other accessory you're in the mood for, or a different hat, let me know, and I'll see what I c'n do to help you out. These're just a sample, after all. Though if you're looking f'r a hat, I'll uh. Need your head size, since we ain't all exactly the same sizes here.

I don't do...clothes. Tried it once. Didn't like it.

[Which means, yeah he's got nothin'.]

No clothes. Easy enough to work with. [Clothing is pretty right-out for him, unless he ends up in a human body. But that's neither here nor there. Here is where he gets his thinking on.]

You've got a fondness for Japan, right? If I'm rememberin' correctly. I could work up a cane with a Japanese dragon motif, if y'like. Even do my best to get the number of toes correct. Maybe even add something special to it, too.

[No clothes. Ever. If he's ever turned into a person again, it will be naked-time.]

[That might not be too horrifying. He has a feeling Vandal set it up just so she could laugh at them.]

...special? I don't have, uh, any way to pay for it.

The one goin' by Saber suggested exactly that, for me. I'm doing a different design, of course, but walking canes count.

[And if the design is elaborate enough, why shouldn't it? He waves one hand at the mention of payment.]

I don't expect you to. Frankly, keeping myself busy and trying my hand at something different is payment enough.

Learning new skills, something other than fighting, has to be a good thing.

I'm learning some first aid. [He's so proud of that. He can patch a cut!]

She did. And honestly, I'm glad. Hats don't exactly fit on all of us.

[Unless they are very very small hats, and then they just look sillier.]

Definitely is. And first aid is especially helpful, with how prone t'injury we are. What've you learned so far?

[Do not even mention small hats to Drift. Ever. ]

Good. I just...I'm not a clothing person.

[He gives a shrug.] Pretty much just how to patch damaged hoses. When Megatron--the strange one here--got hurt that was all I could do.

[Still, he was proud of it at the time. Because he helped someone.]

I c'n hardly blame you there. Clothing ain't for everyone.

Patching damaged hoses is a pretty big part of the job. Sometimes they c'n be the only thing between life and death.

[Which he admits is maybe being a touch dramatic, but still. Oughta be proud of starting somewhere.]

[Drift gives a laugh.] You should talk to Wing, though. When I first met him...totally clothes.

[They were horrible. Really. Cybertronians do not do style, apparently. Even the almighty Circle of Light.]

[Drift can tell he's being...mildly patronized. But it doesn't bother him. He knows it's not the most awesome skill. But you have to start somewhere.]

Sometimes all that matters is keeping someone going until someone better can show up.

Really? Y'know, I keep hearing about all these clothes on Cybertronians and I honestly... can't imagine it.

[Though he can't imagine them doing style for anything besides their armor, really.]

[Barricade at least doesn't mean it to be insulting in some way, really. A lot of the repairs he did - and had done - came down to those silly hoses.]

Truth. Y'know, if you're ever interested, I could teach you a little more. My spark's more in medical work than hat-making.

[Then your imagination is doing you a favor?]

It's...not something we should do. At best, they hamper movement.

Really? I'd like that. Because all this party stuff? I'm not really cut out for it. Fighting. Or exploring, maybe.

At worst we reveal the shocking truth: none of us have any fashion sense?

Don't get me wrong, I like parties. But I prefer doing work with a little more substance to it. Helpin' folks out. You done any exploring outside of the Haven yet?

Hasn't been much time for it during the war, but you'd think the Circle of Light would. You know, more evolved and all.

[You'd think so. You'd be wrong.]

I've been to the Badlands. A lot. [And gotten yelled at for it.]

I'd thought about it. Especially as we were driving out to the battle. There's just so much we don't know about this place.

Circle of Light. Sounds very Zen. But I guess we all have a problem or two, even if it's fashion.

[Especially if it's fashion.]

Badlands. Haven't gotten out there much myself. [It was a little creepy for his taste.]

I've been out, scouting after that whole... Glyphless thing. Haven't gotten too far, but the planet's worth a look from what I've seen.

I guess a few thousand years of isolation, you know, explains it. Worse problems to have, though.

[Drift loves exposing himself needlessly to danger, so the Badlands are kind of his second home.] There's not much out there except monsters and nothing.

[He nods, thinking.] You know what? We should scout around. A team could get more covered than one mech. [Because what says 'thanks for the awesome walking stick like 'let's go do stupid things in the wilderness together'?]

That would do it, yes. Though it could always be worse, I gotta agree.

Sounds like I didn't miss anything, then. Besides, anything that crawls in my processor like it did ain't no place for me to go. [It's easy to repel him if you know how.]

A team'd definitely be safer, too, if any monsters happen to be about. Might even find more than volcanoes and rocks out there, with a little luck. [And he's never going to turn down an adventure, even if it's crazy and reckless.] I'd be up f'r another jaunt in the wilderness.

But they made up for it. They were kind. And they took me in. [At a time in Drift's life when he was a real jerk.]

It's not bad, if you need to work things out of your system. [Through stabbing. Of everything.]

Really? [He sounds excited.] It'd have to be after the dance. Because I imagine you'll be busy until then, at least. [Haberdasher to the stars and all.]

In that case, they don't sound half-bad at all. [And anyone that can put up with jerks gets points in his book.]

Hrm. I'll try to remember that, if I need some stress relief. [Who knows, it might be good for him to kill something every once in a while.]

The turnout f'r items was bigger than I expected, I'll admit. Besides, after the dance seems like good timing for an expedition. [Leave the area on a good note.]

They had their moments. They made Wing, so...[He shrugs. He'll forgive a lot. Love makes him sappy.]

If you ever need a partner, I can stay out of your way. [And still look out for you. He's no Rung, but he understands a certain kind of occupational therapy.]

[He nods.] Sounds good. The good energy of the dance will carry over to our trip.

Ain't so bad when they give you someone important, huh? [Love did pretty much the same thing to Barricade, so he won't exactly prod too much.]

That's the most important thing in a partner f'r me. But I gotta say, I work best with another mech around. [He's hazardous but he watches his partner's back. It's how he was designed.]

It should, hopefully. Energy c'n make a load of difference in events like that.

It, uh, kind of gives perspective. That's all.

[Drift is trying to ride that sappy yet manly line.]

I've been on my own for most of the war. Even in an army.

I hope so. We need good things to happen. There's been enough bad for a while.

I was designed to work with partners, but I was recently absent them back home. It's easier, havin' someone to lean on and watch your back.

Hopefully things will stay a little dull f'r a while then at least, huh? All the bad usually accompanies a lotta action.
