All right, it seems as though this group has been slacking a bit in our responsibilities. We need to do something about that since I believe we have representations for all of our glorious hosts. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

With that said, I have another matter I'd like to bring to the table: the mech Dead End.

As you probably are aware, he has made public his cannibalistic nature. When I confronted him, he admitted to being a threat, but refuses to do anything about it. I don't know about you, but after the allegations of him possibly sneaking into rooms, I don't think this is something we should take lightly.

I'm not suggesting termination --

[As that would not work anyway.]

Or anything related, but we do need precautions before something escalates. If not from Dead End himself, from another going after him.

I propose something along the lines of an internal tracker, a limited boundary he must stay in, and his own personal "baby sitter" so to speak. If he voluntarily complies and doesn't try to eat anyone, this could be eventually lifted. If he violates the rules, then harsher measures can be taken.

I welcome any other suggestions, but I still feel we must act before someone is hurt. I assume being eaten alive isn't a pleasant experience.

We do need to organize ourselves and start planning some basic laws..

[ Saber goes quiet to think about the Dead End situation. She had heard about it, however.. ]

The lad has not killed anyone yet, and seems to have a few trustworthy friends who are watching over him. Maybe they should be told outright they are expected to .. keep him in check, per se? I see no reason to have Dead End feel imprisoned or punished as he has not harmed anyone. We do need to keep an eye on him, however.

[ The knight looks back up at the video directly. ]

Does this Dead End situation not also concern the Police Force?

[personal profile] pendragon 2013-03-08 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
I don't.. know if I feel he actually wants to kill anyone. It sounds as if he's been surviving by.. feeding from friends. It's a tricky situation. If we exercise force unnecessarily others may start to feel we're being hostile needlessly.

[ A gentle sigh. ]

Yes, we need to establish basic laws. "Watch over Dead End" is not a basic law, but "ensuring the general safety of all" would be. I would like to keep a watch over Dead End, and you also mention not wanting to imprison him. How would you handle it?
skidaddle: (surprise08-whats a mode lock)

[personal profile] skidaddle 2013-03-10 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Huh. I've been worried about this same issue, myself.

[Dead End--menace to all therapists, while also being attractive to them.]

I think we probably need to make some laws before we can arrest him for them, though...

Wait.

Hold on.

Who put you on the law committee?

[Last he checked, Starscream spent more time impersonating politicians than he did...being one.]

Honestly, I agree. Especially if he admitted it himself.

Of course, if it is possible we should seek to cure whatever...affliction plagues him, but in the meantime the temptation should not be overlooked.

And he likely has been tempted at the very least since arriving here, given those intrusions some time back.

[The upset minibot that camped out on his couch was proof enough of that.]

Given the nature of his public confession, perhaps he will voluntarily comply with at least some of these suggestions. If we could be so fortunate.

[personal profile] ichooseboth 2013-03-10 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
True, but we can at least try. It could certainly earn him some points with those that are wary.

And honestly, I don't have the slightest idea. I can't say I've ever heard of anything like this before. Perhaps a medic might have more insight.

I agree.

Dead End's getting to be a problem and I think the only solution is imprisonment.

Is there anything that can hold a Cybertonian?

[ Wing feels a little remiss because he knows he's been neglecting this. No matter how hard he tries, there seems to something that slops through the cracks. ]

It's definitely something that needs to be addressed, and proactively not retroactively.

But I hesitate to impost restrictions on a mech who hasn't actually broken any laws. He should be treated fairly as the rest of us. If we can find evidence of him harming someone here, and convict him of a crime, then we can met out a punishment that's appropriate.

But limiting his quality of life simply due to his biological needs is far from fair or just. If we start acting against a mech's threat potential then 70% of the mechs here would be end up with restrictions.

[ He frowns, because he also wants to keep people safe. ]

I'd like to exhaust all options for solving or mediating his needs before we limit his already poor quality of life.

From the sounds of it, it seems to be pretty psychological. But getting help wouldn't hurt.
skidaddle: (anger05-you did what)

[personal profile] skidaddle 2013-03-13 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
Well, yeah the who matters. You are Starscream.

I think 'ulterior motives' sort of go along with the name.

[They did last he checked, anyhow.]

But okay.

I'll bite.

We've got a police force I noticed, so lets ask them to get some evidence against him. After they do that...

Well, what happens after that?

That's kind of up to us, isn't it.
ichooseboth: (Could this mask get any bigger?)

[personal profile] ichooseboth 2013-03-13 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
A possible option. But I suppose we will have to get the details directly from the mech in question before we can actually attempt anything.
skidaddle: (theory09-nothing to be worried about)

[personal profile] skidaddle 2013-03-16 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
Would you want me dead, if we're the same rank?

[Though that may be exactly what your point is, he realizes.]

I...agree?

[He has to add the question mark, because its so weird to say on its own.]

So lets authorize that. I vote we make it against the law for breaking and entering too, and probably also against unauthorized power-core sampling. That ought to take care of the rest.

Wasn't there also some trial we were supposed to do?
ichooseboth: (Sideglance)

[personal profile] ichooseboth 2013-03-19 09:26 am (UTC)(link)
[A sigh.]

If I must. But I have interacted with someone fitting his description before. If it is the same mech, I highly doubt the suggestion would be very appreciated, coming from me.
skidaddle: (ceiling02-whisper)

[personal profile] skidaddle 2013-03-21 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[He is watching you, Screamer. He is.]

So then we'll have to think up some juicy punishments, huh? Something that would deter even Decepticons.

But.

Okay. Separate issue. You know what I'm thinking?

I'm thinking there are too many of us.

I mean, too many of us all working nebulously on one thing. Lets appoint everyone to handle a specific task, come up with a solution, and then we all approve it.

So, like, we get someone to handle trials. And someone to handle laws. And someone to handle punishments. That sort of thing.
winged_knight: (serious: intense)

[personal profile] winged_knight 2013-03-24 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sympathizing Starscream, there needs to be due process. It's critical in establishing a trustworthy power structure that the people will follow and abide by. Without it there's no consistency or fairness. The Police Force is responsible for protecting people from harm. The Law Committee is responsible for making sure they can do that while protecting people's rights as well, including freedom and quality of life.

[ Seriously Starscream, don't make Wing quote the Autobot motto because that would embarrassing for both of us. ]

I'm not saying your idea is a bad one, but we just can't go out and do it, we need a process and it has to be followed. If there's evidence of a crime like assault, then have the police take him into custody. Then we determine his guilt or innocence and what fair repercussions should be.
skidaddle: (happy10-we so got this)

[personal profile] skidaddle 2013-03-26 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Especially since we all have our side-projects in just trying to stay alive here.

It'll help.

[Starscream, maybe you're not so bad.]

[personal profile] ichooseboth 2013-03-27 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
Hn. He previously expressed a great deal of doubt in an Autobot's ability to remain unbiased.

A Decepticon would likely be best. Or a united front from both, though that could make any mech feel backed into a corner.
