[Audio] Junk Pile (Back from hiatus!)

So theoretically speaking, what would you do if you, say, ran someone over with a tank and killed them?

[There's a reason the video isn't on. Shep is trying to keep it cool, and she's no stranger to killing things on purpose. But accidentally running over a raccoon that can talk while joy-riding in the junk pile... Maybe she could just pretend he was one of those pyjacks.]

People come back to life here, right? So he'll pop back up. Er, theoretically of course.

[She was currently squatting over a squashed raccoon body debating what to do with it.]

[Albert Heinrich came along because it only made sense that he'd make sure Prowl had some back up...at Prowl's urging.

The cyborg stepped out, folding his arms. Seemed typical--if you considered a hit-and-run of an alien raccoon typical.]

Let's see what we got here.

[The woman stood as she heard the sirens approach, taking a few steps closer to her vehicle and reaching back to double check that her favorite rifle was strapped to her back.

She eyed the person who stepped out. She had thought she was talking to a robot. Or was the car the robot? Must be. She'd ridden in one once, it made sense other people would as well.]

We call it roadkill on Earth. Except on Earth they don't talk back to us and wear clothes and shoot guns.

[So it made her feel really bad that she even knew Rocket, but it was still an accident.]

We're aware. The problem is that roadkill applies to animals.

[Yep it's a robot. And a sassy one.]

[Prowl's sensors don't detect any foul play from where he's sitting, so he remains in vehicle mode for now. He does notice she's armed, and figures it'd be more comfortable for the situation to remain where he was.]

[You'd think you'd recognize a fellow human, Shep, but whatever. Albert's ready in case this situation goes to dangerous. For now he's a little relieved it's an accident...well, not entirely relieved.]

If it was sentient, we're looking at manslaughter.

We're all animals. Intelligent animals, but still animals.

[Which was more or less what bothered her so much about synthetics, was that they didn't fit into the category of animals.]

So what, do we take him somewhere and do a magic dance to bring him back or does it just happen automatically after some time?

It will need to be brought to it's Firstforged to be revived.

[He's unaware of the procedure beyond that.]

[A storage compartment near the front of the vehicle opens up to receive the body when Albert finishes bagging and tagging it. He suspects it shouldn't be too mangled as to not be able to identify the glyph.]

[Albert takes up the unpleasant task of putting the body in the storage compartment. He's used to death, though. It's not beyond his experience.]

If you go into custody, we'll have to decide the sentencing on the chance you're guilty.

[Laying the facts down plain and simple.]

[There was a shamefully long internal battle in Shepard's head on weather or not she should actually give her own name or some other name, like Miranda Lawson or Maya Brooks.]

Commander Shepard, Alliance Navy. Sounds like we should just avoid custody, then.

To clarify, the nature of the consequences is not ours to determine. We'd need to bring this up to the Law Committee, which is why coming with us, peacefully, is your best option.

[Yeah yeah, alright. No one finds it fun to go the police HQ, but it's part of procedure. And he's eyeing that gun on your back. As much as a car can 'eye'.]

Unless a pursuit needs to be tacked onto the report that is sent.

We'd rather have this thing go without incident, is what we're saying. You could even get off if the Committee decides.

[Albert wavers on the actuality of this having a peaceful close, but he'll see.]

[There was this odd sensation of some invisible button that needed to be pushed, and she knew if it was pushed she'd need her gun and start shooting and make a getaway. But she let the feeling pass, and just after it passed another one came upon her on the other side of the spectrum, and this one she heeded.]

Look, if I had done it on purpose, I would have hid the body or just left it for someone else to find. I'm a soldier, and an honest one. Where I come from I saved the whole galaxy. So why don't you just take my name and contact information, document everything you need to, and let me be on my way? It's not like there's anywhere I can go to evade you if you call on me.

[If Prowl were a little less stuffy, he probably would have agreed with letting Shepard go right there. It's obvious enough that she didn't kill them on purpose.]

[Unfortunately, he likes order more than he likes people.]

A soldier should understand that this is part of a necessary procedure. More importantly, they should understand following orders.

If this all clears out, you should be on your way, quickly.

[Albert wants to let Shepard go, but then again something about her attitude seemed to scream 'above the law'. And Albert had seen enough of that from soldiers for hire.]

Do you really want to drag this out with a machine that can outrun you?

[it... Didn't work? Excuse Shepard, she thinks her conversation wheel might be stuck.]

Um... Well. Not the negotiating types then? Fine. Do what you have to.

[She reached back to unholster the submachine strapped to her back and offered it to the human.]
