[Well, look who crawled out of his hole. Finally. He's also turning over a weird, crystal thing he found recently, clearly trying to figure out what it is he's looking at.]

Has... anyone else seen anything like this before? I've been wondering what it's used for, if anything.

[He was using it as a lamp.]

[And then he goes quiet, his curious expression abruptly covered by that blank expression he tries to wear so often.]

...

It's passed July 4th. Isn't it?

[Sir, you are terrible with dates for all your memory obsession, you should be ashamed.]

[MOOD WHIPLASH.]

Aw well, it's not that great. I can't even eat hot dogs.

Anyway, that looks like a hunk of meth.

Did you forget the 'we missed it' part or the 'Fourth of July' part?

It's drugs!

Well you can chew it or set it on fire and smoke it!

Or shove it up your-- [COUGH COUGH.]

Mmhm, looks like it could be isidrite. It has some qualities that makes is particularly fitting to use in weapons' engineering.

I'm sure there could be other uses as well, however.

[Jetfire smiles slightly and then tilts his helm.]

Fourth of July..? A human thing, I assume?
angleofscience: (science science science!)

Doesn't surprise me. While it's not necessarily exceedingly rare, it does prefer particular environments, and Cybertron seems to have pockets of it... though, given the Lambda, it's hard to tell if this is a native crystal or not.

[He taps his chin thoughtfully, optics brightening a little. He should be able to tell if it is or not, he's been taking what samples he've been able to around the Haven and further out.]

Somewhat important, then, since you thought about asking over its passing?
angleofscience: (ttly explaining things - confused yet?)

By itself, without being fitted into another system or device of a sort, it certainly is. It's perfectly stable, so if you just want to keep it as is, there shouldn't be any greater issues with that.

[He chuckles a bit at the comment about living, but nods.]

Various liquid mediums, yes, plus isolated underground pockets, like caves, or in rock. Usually on astroids.

Ah. You don't know, exactly, what it is, or commemorates, then?
angleofscience: (smile - as predicted!)

[Okay, he can't help it, and smiles at that, but it's plain and lacks anything that could be considered 'mocking'.]

You shave off thin layers of it, or break it into very tiny, basically gravel-sized, chunks, depending on the planned use for them. Aince the method used, plus the shape of the useable smaller pieces will determine how you use it, and for what.

[Jetfire nods, humming thoughtfully.]

And it's very possible it is, considering the amount of raw materials to be found here, given that this Cybertron is very young compared to what anyone else of us know.

I see. But yes, it probably has passed, tough matching Earth-related time to this Cybertron to give you an exact of how long ago would require to take into account the thirty two hour day we have here, and set up an equation for the difference...

Hardly impossible, however.

[At all, really. If he had all the data, it'd take him a nano-klik or so, perhaps.]
