[Well, look who crawled out of his hole. Finally. He's also turning over a weird, crystal thing he found recently, clearly trying to figure out what it is he's looking at.]

Has... anyone else seen anything like this before? I've been wondering what it's used for, if anything.

[He was using it as a lamp.]

[And then he goes quiet, his curious expression abruptly covered by that blank expression he tries to wear so often.]

If... you like. I've wanted something to protect someone for... for a long while now. I'll do whatever you ask of me, in return.

[For Kay -- he's serious. He would do anything for the girl.]

[He just shakes his helm at that, the glow from his optics softening a little.]

Not needed. Now... having a conversation like this doesn't tell me scale well; how tall are you? And what type of weapons would you prefer?

[Things would be infinitely easier if he didn't have to make a weapon for a human-sized robot. Or a human-sized everything, with the lack of proper tools.]

[Not that either of them knows it, but like this, Kay will end up with an armory on her own.]

Were you thinking of anything in particular? [He frowns, thoughtfully.] A shield of some sort might be relatively easily doable and practical...

[If he knew Kay was getting weaponry heaped on her, he'd probably have asked for help with something else.]

Not a firearm. [The thought of her with one of those is a little horrifying.] ... But shielding. Yes. She needs something to protect herself.

[Unfortunate, but at least it means she'll be well-armed..?]

I don't exactly have the tools that would make working something small as that easier, but it won't be impossible.

[He nods thoughtfully, frowning slightly.]

I might even be able to make it collapsible to a great deal, which would make it more practical... Would you want what I don't use of the crystal for the shield back?

If... it's too much of a bother, you don't need to do it.

[He still feels as if his requests, even small ones, are nothing but bothers to the living robots.]

But, whatever you feel is best. I don't know anything about shields. [Swords and other blades, sure, but not shields.] And, I wouldn't mind keeping what's left.

It'll be a challenge, that's all.

[Shaking his helm, Jetfire attempts a reassuring smile; he does want to try, after all. Lack of appropriately sized tools just make it a bit more... difficult.]

They do require a different engineering method than projectile weapons, but are otherwise a fair bit simpler... How much do you have of it?

[He holds out his hands. There's a pretty good-sized chunk of the stuff in his palms.]

Mmhm. Given the size of a human, that should be more than enough, especially as it'll simply be used as an extra layer and the flakes will be thin...

[Trailing off, Jetfire shakes his helm.]

Should be more than enough... actually... ah. Would you be willing to part with enough of it to make two shields? Since both of them would be for those human-sized, there'd still be a chunk over.

I don't mind. It doesn't really have any value to me... so... you can do what you like with it.

Thank you. [There's no reason to play modest here; sure, it won't be something overly amazing, but an effort is an effort, right? So he just dips his helm in a nod.]

The basic work with the isidrite shouldn't take too long as soon as I figure out the best way to shave off the flakes I'll need without shattering the matrix of the crystal itself, but I'll return the crystal and give you the shield at the same time.

Somewhat more efficient.

[He smiles and nods, then starts to actually move.]

Do you know where Trion's temple is?

I do. It wouldn't take long to arrive. Outside the main entrance, or a meeting point elsewhere?

On the roof?

Certainly. [Jetfire smiles and inclines his helm slightly. It's a good thing he can fly.]

I'll be by in a few... ah, minutes then.

[Long enough Kagerou can probably easily get to the roof. And he knows exactly how much time it'll take, the calculation of varying available speeds and the distance coming automatically... but it's simpler to say it like he did.]

[And since all he really has to do is duck out a window and fly... he really will be up there, waiting.]
