[Video] - far above the Haven, with a bit of static
[The video feed, laced with static here and there but otherwise viable, shows Jetfire from bottom half and down, his arm angled to focus on what seems to be a little drone plane insistently burning at full throttle a few feet beneath thrusters.
Though, for some reason, unless he's keeping precise time with it (which, in fact, he's not, keeping himself hovering) it doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Far, far below both Jetfire and drone, the curve of Cybertron can be seen.]
I was in need of some... er, distraction and can safely say that attempting to leave Cybertron's near orbit at present, without some sort of modification, won't result in any greater harm than frustration.
[Jetfire starts to drift, so hopefully no one watching easily gets vertigo as he makes a circle above the insistently flying drone.]
I did, of course, attempt some preliminary tests before I was given the modifications, but as there was no way to know if pushing too far would result in a negative backlash of some sort, I didn't think it prudent to try to use too much power in attempting to get past the... er, field that currently seems to surround Cybertron.
[He might sound a bit more clipped than he usually does, and, out of view of the down-tilted feed, Jetfire's frowning because by now he's sort of... on edge due to Things. Hence, distraction.
Underneath his feet, the drone plane's engine nozzles sputter, cough and then die as it runs out of fuel, and the feed tilts, aiming back up to show Jetfire's upper half and wearing his outer helmet as he dives down to catch it, the static in the feed as he nears Haven smoothing out.]
Also, ah... Sari, Kagerou? I have something for each of you.
[You would think he's not flying straight down at speed to catch his drone plane, by his unruffled tone.]

And you're absolutely sure you can't take a break for a few minutes?
[While he doesn't smile and manage to look merely inquisitive he can't quite not sound amused, his optics bright. He'll of course understand if Blurr actually can't, however.]
no subject
[Blurr noticed but he didn't mind. Jetfire doesn't sounds amused all that often.]
I...no no I'm sure I can.
no subject
unless and until you meet your creator and god.!]Care to join me now, then? This won't necessarily take long.
[Now, however, Jetfire smiles.]
I can fly down and accompany you up and we can start by seeing how far up you can reach flying through those... er, alignment-given powers.
no subject
Jetfire your atheist bias are showing.]You mean...now? Ehm. [Let Blurr make a silent check of all the things he should be doing. He nods in the end.]
Alright, let's do that.
no subject
No, just his agnosticism, he had to stop being an atheist way back then, even if it took a while to accept it.]Thank you. [Jetfire smiles and privately wonders if it's just not as well he pressed - not that he hasn't ended up buried in his own work at times, but he doesn't run fast like Blurr does.]
If you give me a location, I'll be there in a few kliks.
[It really won't take longer than that to get to any point in the Haven from his position, after all]
no subject
Oh, my bad then.][It's certainly a good change. Blurr needs a break every now and then but he rarely admits it.]
I'm close to the lake on Trion's temple now.
no subject
Hmm. It shouldn't take me long at all.
[In fact, it doesn't take long at all, and Jetfire drops from the sky not much later, only turning himself thrusters down at the last possible moment over the lake and spraying water across the surface in an impressive display before coming to a hovering stop close to where Blurr's standing.]
Shall we see what that gifted flight of yours can do?
no subject
Blurr is impressed by how natural is Jetfire's landing. I really shows when one was born to fly. It makes Blurr feel a bit self-conscious but he nods.]
I'm not as talented as you are. [He takes a step forward and up, first just sort of hovering close to Jetfire.]
no subject
Not yet, perhaps. And considering you seem to be unconstrained by the usual restraints of conventional methods of flight, you have more options...
[Looking Blurr over once, Jetfire frowns thoughtfully as he flicks a quick, shallow scan over him but really... there is nothing detectable that could answer why Blurr is flying.]
This is relatively new for you, isn't it? We'll take it slow upwards, then.
[So this time, when he starts to ascend, it's slow and controlled, waiting for Blurr to catch up to him and keep pace before going too far.]
no subject
[He notices the frown though.] Is there something wrong with me? [He flies because of MAGIC Jetfire
except, not really. How does that make you feel?]I've been practicing as much as I can but I still ahve trouble flying in my alt mode.
[Going up is not as easy as going fast, when he can double his speed but he managed to catch up on Jetfire after a few seconds.]
no subject
Nothing "wrong" as such, Blurr. I was merely trying to see if there was something that could explain how you were flying... All I could, maybe find, however, was a slightky heightened heat and glow around your glyph, which would be reasonable if that's where the ability of flight comes from, but doesn't explain anything.
[Giving a soft, static-laced huff, Jetfire shrugged.]
Perhaps there'll be some way to explore how these... gifts are created later.
And yes, while you'll obviously need to train, as you don't need to take in mind the usual details of flying... You will, for example, be able to manoeuvre a lot more easily and without restraint.
no subject
Yes, I can do that because Vector Prime's influence changed my glyph, I don't think there's a further logical explanation.
[Blurr can't help but smile a little at Jetfire's irritated huff. He tried to hide it but it wasn't very successful.] I'm sure you must have gained some new abilities too since you arrived.
As long as you don't try to trap me inside a lab to study me I'm okay wit that. Could you help me with the training, if you have the time? I'm still havig problems with the landing.
no subject
There usually is more explanations to be found. Even unexplained actions need some form of conventional origin to be able to happen. [Does Jetfire sound vaguely put-out? Perfectly possible.]
And I have, one which could be a reasonable enhancement of normal calculations as I can now do them faster and more effortlessly... The other... Well. [Jetfire just shook his helm and was uncomfortably aware he'd felt Blurr's amusement earlier.]
And I wouldn't do that. If you want we can train a bit after the test is done. It won't take a lot of time.
no subject
God granting them power are not conventional enough? [Blurr is secretly fond of seeing Jetfire refuse any explanation that isn't scientific enough, sorry pal.] And the other....?
And I'm glad you wouldn't and I didn't mean to offend you. [Really, he didn't.] YesIwouldlikethat.
no subject
Even that would need a focus and to act in the world as normal. I've seen "magic" and it could most simply be explained as energy that hasn't been quantified yet. [Jetfire friends as he speaks, shaking his helm. Could we not, Blurr?]
... And the other is... Something similar to Soundwave's mind-reading... Ah, empathy? Only works if someone is close-by however.
[Jetfire just waved a hand dismissively at the last.]
You didn't, but scientific research usually does not involve trapping your subjects and opening them up. [So dry.]
no subject
Ah. Okay. [Fine, fine. He's saying nothing now, clearly noticing Jetfire's annoyance.]
U-su-a-lly. [He knows about project Omega, you see.]
no subject
I'm merely... ah, uncomfortable with this... er, "gift", Blurr. It's not something I would consider to... Well, get. Interesting as it is.
[Stopping their ascent suddenly, Jetfire held his arm out to Blurr to make him stop as well.]
This is rather close. I'll ask you to try and fly further up in a klik or so. But yes, usually it doesn't, and anything that does involve someone being locked and opened up, especially unwillingly, is usually not properly ethical.
[Yes, Jetfire is sounding rather sharp. He had opinions about such things, even if he had understandably been curious about Sunstorm.]
no subject
[Mind reading is not something that sits well with Blurr either, specially after what happened between SG Soundwave and him. This time, he's the only looking uncomfortable.
Staggering slightly in mid air, he stops when Jetfire gestures for him to do so.] You would be surprised about how War can make ethic seem a relative thing. [Blurr murmurs, looking somber, before flying up a few meters.]
Should I keep going up until I hit the barrier?
no subject
[Jetfire nods, optics dimming slightly. He's thought about it yes, but he doesn't feel it... safe to approach Liege with such a request. Insulting him or no, the whole thing might look like a request for a favour, and he probably don't want to owe Liege Maximo favours.]
I'm not... surprised, really, since that was partly why I left the Decepticons. [He pauses, glancing down at Blurr and then up again.] It is rather surprising there seem to be suggestions of similarly... ah, inadvisable behaviour from Autobots in other realities.
[Doing what's necessary for war or not, there's still things they haven't done and wouldn't do.]
And yes, that's it. I know where it is, so it'll be obvious if you can just pass through it, and if not, we'll see how your... er, aprticular form of flight pushes the barrier.
no subject
It shouldn't be that way. We should be better than that. [Blur clenches his hands into fist but says no more.]
[Blurr nodded and then looked at the sky for a few seconds before speeding up. Speed is something he's used to, more than flying, and he doesn't seem to have a trouble doing what it looks like running on air rather than flying. The real problem comes when he gets to the barrier.
This is the moment when the irresistible force paradox makes its appearance, ladies and gentlemen. What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object? Nothing good. Specially not for Blurr, since he's not so unstoppable. The blue mech hits the force field with considerable speed, feeling like he just crashed against a wall before being pushed backwards.
Be a good friend and catch him before he falls to the ground, Jetfire, Blurr's a bit dizzy at the moment.]
no subject
[He falls quiet, then, to keep an optic on what Blurr is doing and apparently going much too fast against the barrier, instead of just pushing against you and keeping you in place, results in... well.
That.
His engine cycles up with a roar and he dives, flying past Blurr before he straightens up and catches the much smaller mech in his arms.]
... Are you all right?
no subject
Hhhhhnnnng.... [He will thank Jetfire for the catch in a moment, as soon as everything stops spinning.]
no subject
[He says it with a straight face, even and evens out his flight, ending up simply hovering in the air.]
no subject
ImfineImfinereallyIjustneedto...eh....[Blurr looks down, noticing how high they still are.] Hhn...oh.
[Flying all the way down all by himself seems not an easy task. He got dizzy again just looking down.]
no subject
I can take us down, if you want.
[It's not surprising to Jetfire if Blurr suddenly got struck with a bit of vertigo and fear of heights; he just fell a good distance, and he's not actually a flyer, even if he now can fly.]
