[someone's been busy in the junkpile as well. He's got a human sized table... sort of. One that's on the ground, at which he's kneeling. And he's got... stuff... on the table. He is, as usual, idly shuffling his cards.]
Well, well. When beasties aren't attacking the place, it can get downright dull around here, hmm? I mean, one can explore, of course, but that gets rather lonely; and one can garden as well, if one is human, but when all the chores have been done, what's there to do?
[he gestures to the stuff on the table. It... looks like a bunch of games. A lot are pretty beat up -- he did pull them out of the junkyard -- and with a few it looks like he's cobbled together extra pieces from spare parts. It looks like he currently has Yahtzee, backgammon, a whole bunch of dice, several decks of cards, what looks like a truly ancient Senet board, parcheesi, and checkers. And then... some odder ones. For instance, for some reason there is a Lord of the Rings Monopoly board. And then... Settles of Catan and... something called Pixel Lincoln.. It looks like he may have gathered even MORE in the background.]
A few weeks worth of work. But they're here for the taking, and I'm always up for a game of any sort. And yet, still no chessboard.
Beyond that... if you're not the sort for games, I've a little skill at fortune-telling with the cards. You can ask me any question you like and I'll try to give you an answer.
[ooc: so yeah, board game collection. I figure most games can be handwaved; Luxord will usually win at most games unless a character is spectacularly good in canon, or a supercomputer. I, the mun, am pretty good at some but terrible at others. I think there's online versions of a lot of these if we wanted to be really silly?
AS FOR CARD READINGS: I will do IN CHARACTER tarot card readings for people! I am still working out the system I want to use (developing a unique one for Luxord) and reading tags will be very, very slow. I will be using actual cards, and winging it. Luxord's got no magical fortune telling abilities or way to know the future, he just does it for the lulz... unless you WANT him to accidentally happen to draw a card that has a particular bearing on your character's life? ]

[Video] i don't think I've harassed you with Drift yet.
[Oooooh you have pinged his long unpinged secretly mystical woo woo side.]
[Video] you have not! HELLLLZ YEAH DRIFT
[He takes his own set of cards, the Fair Game, and then performs a series of complex flourishes that seem to laugh in the face of gravity before spreading them out]
Is it random chance, the wiles of Lady Luck, or is it true that the cards tell all? Only one way to find out, of course, and that's to ask a question...
Question? [Yeah, he's never done this before.] Like what kind of question?
[He nods.] All right.
[A long silence. One question? Better be a good one.]
[And he locks the feed. He learned about that from Ratchet.]
How about 'How can I be what Wing needs?'
[Yeah. Right for the blackmailable material.]
[video | locked] this is where I fly by the seat of my pants and admit I know nothing about Drift
Tied to another? Well then. We'll play a partner game, to find out how you two relate to each other, and then I'll try to answer your question.
[He lays three cards in two columns, facing the camera. He lays a final, seventh card between the two.]
The left column represents you, and the right is Wing. The center is the center of your relationship to each other, how you two relate, or the central problem in your relationship.
So, the central card: the Wheel of Fortune. This is a card of fate, destiny, and fortune... and also of the bigger picture. It's not such a good card to come up during a reading about personal relationships. It means that your relationship to Wing is problematic on some level, probably because you're too focused on immediacegy, on the little details. There's a lesson you need to learn before you can figure out what he needs... if he needs anything at all from you.
Now, the first set, the conscious level, what you two think of the situation, and of each other. On your side, we have the Knight of Coins. You've been quite stubborn about a particular point of view or belief you hold about Wing, yourself, and life in general. You need to take a step back and think about what's actually feasible and within your power to do, rather than clinging to your old perceptions and biases.
On Wing's end... the Fool. Either he's been thinking of this as an adventure, or, more likely, he's ignorant of the true depth of what you want from him, and of your feelings as a whole. He takes the whole thing very lightly and with berevity, though equally without prejudice. He may be completely unaware of what you want... or he may not even care.
Righto. Onto your emotions and subconscious feelings for each other... On your end, the Seven of Swords.
[He frowns a bit. Swords are almost never good when it comes to a reading about emotions. They're the symbols of logic, reason, warfare, and revenge.]
Up till now, you've been quite disingenuous with Wing. You've been faking your true feelings, making up lies to try to get the reaction you desire from him, and it's been failing. You've also been decieving yourself about what you really want. If you really want to "be what he needs", you need to be more honest and truthful about how you feel.
As for Wing... the Nine of Swords. He's tormented by his past and his possible future, weighted down by worries and pain. He's been trying to surpress them, and has no desire to speak of them, but that silence is going to kill him slowly. He needs to open up about what's hurting him, and open up to others... and unfortunately for you, that's going to be something he needs to do on his own terms. No one outside is going to be able to help him come to that place, it is something he must realize for himself.
Finally, the last two cards represent how you two have been behaving outwardly towards each other, the facade you both put on. For you, the Five of Coins. You've been seeking the sympathy of others all around you; you say you've a great destiny which is a terrible burden for you, and you like to tell everyone around you so, hoping to garner their sympathy, or at least their loyalty. You've been trying to garner Wing's attention with this act. Are you truly so unhappy, or is this just an act you put on to ensnare him? Given how caught up he must be in his own pain, not to mention how you're barely on his radar, such an act is bound to fail.
And for Wing, the Page of Coins... Despite the anxiety he feels, Wing exudes confidance and resolve. He pushes down his doubts and fears and appears to be completely in control of all situations. I imagine this is one of the things you find compelling about him...
[Luxord looks at the whole spread, pondering. He then deftly gathers up the cards and cuts them back into the deck.]
My advice would be to stop trying at all. If you're meant to be of aid to him, then you will be, but throwing yourself in his direction will do you absolutely no good at all. His mind is elsewhere.
[Also, boy, if any of this is true? Drift you got issues.]
[video | locked]this is mindblowingly accuate you realize?
I....see. [He cycles a long vent of air. It's a lot to process. Wing, hiding his pain from Drift, not trusting him. It's what he's feared all along, that their past was an obstacle.]
I'll try to do better. I didn't realize.... I try not to ask for anything. I'll try harder.
[video | locked] I did not haha
Do what you will. I can only tell you what the cards offer.
Also, should you wish me to read again in the future, all you need do is ask.
[video | locked] just saying this whole post is amazing
[Because there were parts of the reading that were so true it hurt, and parts he wanted to be wrong, which probably meant they were also true.]
[video | locked] djfjd ffdd <3
And still others have claimed that fate and chance wheel through the wiles of echoing time, and one familiar with time's flow can pluck threads of truth without knowing it.
[A shrug]
It's a matter of what one believes.
[Oh you could not possibly tell him things that could make him happier. Mystical powers. Forces of destiny. His optics may be glowing.]
And what do you believe?
That'd spoil the fun now, wouldn't it? But, well...
[He flashes the cards through his fingers, and, in sequence, flashes a few cards before cutting them back into his deck: the Magician, the Ace of Swords, and, finally, the Wheel of Fortune]
I know enough of time to hold that Fate exists and Fortune exists and both can be changed, and that even if all there was to the cards was random chance and clever interpretation, the one for whom the reading's done still reflects a bit of themselves on the cards on the table and the words spoken to them. In short, even if there's no magic to it all, it's still a way of bringing forth what you already know in your soul.
So what you're saying is that what feels true is true. Right now. But it can change. Maybe.
More or less, yes. But how that change happens is up to you, and the whims of Lady Luck.
