[someone's been busy in the junkpile as well. He's got a human sized table... sort of. One that's on the ground, at which he's kneeling. And he's got... stuff... on the table. He is, as usual, idly shuffling his cards.]

Well, well. When beasties aren't attacking the place, it can get downright dull around here, hmm? I mean, one can explore, of course, but that gets rather lonely; and one can garden as well, if one is human, but when all the chores have been done, what's there to do?

[he gestures to the stuff on the table. It... looks like a bunch of games. A lot are pretty beat up -- he did pull them out of the junkyard -- and with a few it looks like he's cobbled together extra pieces from spare parts. It looks like he currently has Yahtzee, backgammon, a whole bunch of dice, several decks of cards, what looks like a truly ancient Senet board, parcheesi, and checkers. And then... some odder ones. For instance, for some reason there is a Lord of the Rings Monopoly board. And then... Settles of Catan and... something called Pixel Lincoln.. It looks like he may have gathered even MORE in the background.]

A few weeks worth of work. But they're here for the taking, and I'm always up for a game of any sort. And yet, still no chessboard.

Beyond that... if you're not the sort for games, I've a little skill at fortune-telling with the cards. You can ask me any question you like and I'll try to give you an answer.

[ooc: so yeah, board game collection. I figure most games can be handwaved; Luxord will usually win at most games unless a character is spectacularly good in canon, or a supercomputer. I, the mun, am pretty good at some but terrible at others. I think there's online versions of a lot of these if we wanted to be really silly?

AS FOR CARD READINGS: I will do IN CHARACTER tarot card readings for people! I am still working out the system I want to use (developing a unique one for Luxord) and reading tags will be very, very slow. I will be using actual cards, and winging it. Luxord's got no magical fortune telling abilities or way to know the future, he just does it for the lulz... unless you WANT him to accidentally happen to draw a card that has a particular bearing on your character's life? ]

Fortune telling?

[Oooooh you have pinged his long unpinged secretly mystical woo woo side.]
sword_redemption: (huh?)

[Well, that certainly looks impressive.]

Question? [Yeah, he's never done this before.] Like what kind of question?
elkmobile: (just accept it)

[personal profile] elkmobile 2012-08-08 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
Can't say I've had my fortune told for sometime. I suppose it couldn't hurt, Luxord.

By the way -- I think I might have something fresh for us to eat for once. I'll be sure to bring it by.

[The cards have her attention. Not the tarot cards, but the real ones.]

Hmm~ You ever play a game of Slapjack?

[Korra remembers Sifu Katara's stories of the Fortunetller.]

I've never had my fortune told before.

[Then her eyes widen. Then narrow. She peers at the screen, sorta tilting her body to get a better view at the pile of other games behind Luxord.]

Is that a Pai Sho board?

[OOC: http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/Pai_Sho; "Pai Sho bears a resemblance to Go, Chinese Checkers, Straight checkers, and Xiangqi.
The name of the game bears resemblance to a Tibetan game called Sho-pa, although Sho-pa, in reality, is a gambling game and is not at all similar to chess or checkers.
The name bears an even greater resemblance to the Chinese tile game, Pai gow." If you're interested in trying Pai Sho? It's a popular game in Korra's world.]

I can try to teach you Pai Sho if you want. And maybe later you can try to teach me some of the other games you mentioned--they look interesting, but they don't look exactly familiar to me.

[OOC: OKAY. ...Though I'm not quite sure of the rules, I'll try to think of a reasonable system, or do more research. And a separate thread for Korra's fortunetelling? Because I think she'd still like to have her fortune told.

Ah, found more Pai Sho things:

I'll have Korra try to sum them up later, probably after your next tag, hopefully with Luxord's full consent.]

[Yeah, Drift doesn't really deflect responsibility. He's seen where that goes.]

[He nods.] All right.

[A long silence. One question? Better be a good one.]

[And he locks the feed. He learned about that from Ratchet.]

How about 'How can I be what Wing needs?'

[Yeah. Right for the blackmailable material.]
not_halfbaked: (well of course)

[OOC: Ooh yes, handwave please! But I was wondering--in this case, would Korra actually beat Luxord, since she should have more experience with Pai Sho?]

Okay, so look, I'll do a demo game pretending to be both players and explain it--

[Korra takes her earth bracelet, divides the pieces and uses them to make a makeshift Pai Sho board on her side of the video feed with her bending.]

...and that's it for the White Lotus tile strategy and the basics of the game!

So we meet at your temple for this?

Oh yeah, it'd be cool to have my fortune told!

...How does that exactly work anyway?

Give me a few minutes and I'll meet up with you!

[Her communicator cuts the feed as she dashes towards the junk pile, a lot more graceful in run than she is anywhere else. It takes a good ten minutes, but she gets there, she's panting and out of breath. Hardcore much?]

I'm...here...!

Oooo~! Games!

Too bad there aren't any video games.

Do you play rummy?

Huh. Okay. So--

[Korra began to consider. Her first thought was 'how to get home?' but that didn't really make sense in this case. If Luxord knew, he'd be gone by now, wouldn't he? No, Luxord wouldn't know anything about that. What to ask--maybe seek out advice for what to do when (if) she got back.]

--uh. There's this guy. Tall, dark and scary. But he seems to want equality, which is supposed to be a good thing. He says there's this oppression going on, but I never really saw it. But then I'm part of the group he says is doing all the oppressing and getting all the advantages? So I guess I wouldn't be able to really see...and there was some stuff I saw that started to gel with what he was saying...so, ah, what do you think I should do? With that?

...Is that enough information for you?
my_own_trope: (I'm pretty sure the universe hates me)

OH MAN CAN WE ACTUALLY PLAY SOMETHING? OR JUST SAY WE DID? BECAUSE GAMES!
