first mission ; video ; near prima's temple

[ So waking up happened. It was absolutely disorienting, and let Shepard tell you, she's already had a few of those 'out-of-body' experiences. Spoiler alert; every single one of them sucked. Flashbacks of dying weren't pleasant either; it took some concentration and a few deep breaths to remind her that all that was long since past. Getting out of the temple was a side quest in itself, but she's finally out in the open, hoping the lack of concrete and stone and whatever else the literal monument was made out of wouldn't mess with her frequencies.

She's pleasantly surprised, her Omni-tool is already adjusted to the frequency change. Completely recalibrated to the Link. Her expression wavers between suspicion and being impressed, and a few screens later, she's in the system. Her voice crackles for a moment as the audio syncs to the video. Hey, it's a Shepard. Her tone is rather cynical, despite her situation. She might still be in some disbelief at what she's been previously told.

So I'm not the only refugee then? Who else exactly is here?

[ She'd tell you who she is if she knew whether or not titles applied here. Shep's rather hesitant, after all, you never know who could be watching. ]

A few of your own species, if you are human as you look to be, one or two other... er, organic aliens, a few non-cybertronian mechanoids of human origin, and the rest of us would be cybertronians.

[Do you like words, Shepard? Because you'll get some now. Long-winded explanation, go.]

All of us displaced here through the time-space anomaly that seems capable of connecting not only to... er, multiple alternate universes where a Cybertron exist, but further out as well, into realities where there is no Cybertron and thus lacking a common denominator.

It does mean, however, that you might see duplicates of some of us cybertronians at least, since there's more than one reality with us, and... ah.

[Jetfire pauses, tilting his helm, and maybe it's just the fact that he paused to catch himself and consider what to say next (especially in bringing up that he's pretty sure she's been here before, or an alternate of, anyway) that he remembers to stop and actually introduce himself, but that's what he ends with.]

I'm Jetfire.

[Might be simpler to end there than immediately bringing up other versions of herself having been here before, after all.]

[He uses more words than Mordin simply because he doesn't leave out such things like pronouns.

... and he's just long-winded.]

So far, there hasn't been any suggestion of a reality mingling metal and organic matter together in our frames, no. And that... ah, well.

[He smiles, dryly and shrugs.]

Might be somewhat difficult if only because the designs vary across alternate realities, but most of us keep to a span within ten to thirty feet tall, and usually there will be identifiable vehicle, or, in some cases, animal parts, as we can transform... and you could always ask.

Into a space-capable cybertronian jet, yes. Most present currently transform into various ground vehicles, however.

[At that, Jetfire shakes his helm, optics dimming slightly.]

Ah, yes. That might be a thing to be aware of; in most realities, our species is caught up in a more-or-less galaxy-spanning civil war, with one side having ambitions to either conquer or devastate other planets and their populations in addition to their original goal of Cybertron.

[He pauses, tapping the red insignia emblazoned on the metal above his cockpit.]

Most cybertronians you will see will sport either this or the Decepticon brand [Have a handy image of said insignia.]... With the Decepticons usually being the agressors in this matter, even if the reasons might have varied in the beginning.

[Another pause.]

Befriend who you wish, but it might be an idea to be aware that Decepticons do not usually have much care for other species... or anyone not espousing their... ah, philosophy.

Insofar as it has been applied at some point in the past as an adaption? No, as far as we know... at least in my reality, others may be different, we've always been capable of it.

[Jetfire shakes his helm, holding his hands up, palms up.]

There are, unfortunately... er, tensions. Though, given that we're all from different realities, I think that might in fact be helping to keep it at tensions, without solid formation along faction-lines, even across realities.

[And if it ever actually broke out seriously, it would of course be hard for anyone else to stay out of it.]

The Firstforged however, would probably... or hopefully at least, make sure any serious breakout would be contained.

Entirely understandable, though you and any other humans would at least have some additional protection as those of us who are Autobots try to keep others protected from the Decepticons' methods.

[Jetfire shrugs, frowning.]

Of course, that only works so far, since I understand Earth comes under attack quite often, accidentally or not, by our species, and the Decepticons usually prove hard to... er, remove.

Indeed.

[Have a helmtilt and an arch look, Shepard. Such confidence.]

Perhaps. Given the vast difference in technology between our species when we've landed on Earth, that's probably part of the reason - as our factions are too evenly matched, usually.
