i had planned to write a very long and passionate letter detailing my ardor for you, but all words are insufficient to encompass all that i have felt for you in this very short time

to everyone else you are only drift, a robot without a home and with a mysterious past and a mysterious smile and a mysterious ... (i'll fill this in with something else later, maybe that crest?)

but to me, you are everything. you are the light of every star that i see reflected in your hull, and every time i see you i long to tell you everything, but the thought of being rejected is unbearable to me. so i make excuses to see you often, and hope that you will take that first step, instead.

please, i beg you, don't reject me because of my organic state. don't turn away from me in my hour of emotional need. i want you more than i have ever wanted any other being, organic or otherwise, and i could not bear if you didn't at least entertain the possibility of making me yours, and you mine.

in this brave new world so in need of terraforming, drift, you have terraformed my everything.

There's perversions and then there's ridiculousness.

I don't know what you're implying, and what sort of ... preposterous shore leave you allowed amongst the ranks, but that's just... that's just... Honestly, I can't see the appeal at all.

Oh, I'm sure it didn't happen that often. Decepticon forces weren't exactly on the ground on Earth all the time anyway, and, well. Plenty of our people got their kicks just pulling organics apart.

[awkward thing to say, there. Even the incredibly shitty treatment the Decepticons got before the war doesn't justify atrocities on other cultures, and for his part Starscream draws a line between killing noncoms as a tactical maneuver and killing for pleasure. These days.]

I'm not into humans, personally. But I've never been very good at protecting things.

[Meanwhile, the mention of casual, unwarranted brutality doesn't even ping Starscream's radar as anything out of the ordinary. It's that last sentence that catches his attention instead.]

And ... what is it that you've failed to protect?

[He opens his mouth, and then remembers this is a Starscream and that it may not be the best idea to trust someone who could have his own personal worst traits.

But it's also someone who has the best idea of understanding, and the lure of wanting to share is great.

A long vented sigh.]

Nothing I can't replace. [that sounds like a feint, but it's half true. This also sounds like T-cog talk, but it's squad talk.]

[He can't help it, but his mind instantly hopes wonders if this other Starscream shares his loss of a Tcog. It would be so good to commiserate with someone.

We should. [And he wants to. Badly.] But I am an incredibly busy individual, and I can't spare the time for idle play. You'll just need to find someone else.

[Unfortunately this is one of those moments where Starscream chooses to be self-aware and that innocuous comment has him tense, furious, and unhappy. It mostly doesn't show in his voice,]

Hah! [But his short bark of laughter can't hide its edge. His tone returns to normal when he all but purrs:]
