[He just. Holds up the wires he's hooked up to. But then blinks, and sits up a little more.]

[Drift is, for once, staying flat on his back. Maybe Ratchet read him a riot act.]

Yes. Told you, Ratchet does good work. [A cautious smile.]

And when you can, you drink it... Soundwave said the same thing.

[Which means... maybe he was doing it wrong.]

I'm... glad to hear that. I was concerned, when I saw your posting.

That's right. I imagine the converted stuff tastes terrible.

[He tries a smile, which is a bit of effort. He's been lying here, trying to be a good patient, but he doesn't do well with lying still. Talking's a bit of an effort, but it's better than just lying there.]

I...I'm sorry to have worried you.

[He fidgets. He knows he can't really do anything, since... what does he know about engineering, but still.]

It wasn't intentional. You needed help. [He pauses, and nods.] I heard it was, recently.

The energon. We can convert matter into our fuel. It's how we've been able to fight so long so far away from home.

I did. I don't like needing help, though. I don't like others worrying.

[He sighs, relieved.] Hopefully what happened--to us--won't happen to anyone else.

You don't need to use only this energon? You can use other things?

[A shrug.]

If you need help, then you need it. If... I had been capable of it, I would have come.

But yes, I hope so, too.

We can use a variety of sources, and convert them to energon. [He shrugs.] I'm not a scientist, someone like Ratchet could explain it better.

...thank you. [He's not used to that: the Autobots had left him, probably for lost, in the Swarm.] I'd have done the same.

Are you....all right? I hope you came through it better than I did.

That's useful. Your kind is lucky to have that kind of ability.

[He nods.] I believe you.

[Not entirely true. Physically, though, he's all right.]

You can too, though. I thought Ratchet installed the ability to digest energon in your fr--in the Brave Police.

[Drift shook his head.] I'm not sure I am. I fight. I'm used to getting injured. But not like that. Not torture.

In them. Not in me. Not... yet. He wanted to wait. So now there's... this.

[He absently fingers the wiring.]

I've never... experienced... anything like that, either.

[Drift thinks he can figure out why Ratchet would say that. And it tells him a lot about the condition Kagerou must have been in after Prism. ]

Trust Ratchet. He knows what's best. And he knows by now how your systems work.

...I don't know...why anything like that would be brought here. I thought we were chosen, with a purpose. But I can't see a purpose in that.

He's very smart. I've never met another robot like him.

[Although to be fair, Kagerou hasn't met a lot of other robots period...]

We were chosen to be brought here? [He pauses.] No, I don't... understand why it would be here, either, if that's true.

I have. The Ratchet from my world.

[Same cheerful personality, too.]

It can't just be random, can it? Suddenly being here? These marks? [He makes a gesture toward the mark of Vector on his upper arm.]

There's no one like that in my world. Only human beings.

[He shrugs a little, helplessly, glancing at his own. Why is... it different?]

I don't know. I assumed I'd been captured... since... Things went as they did.

Is that bad, then, to be here? We're not your kind, but we respect you have a right to exist, as much as any of us do.

[He frowns.]

I'm not sure. The First Forged I ran into didn't recognize me, and I was his. I don't think they did it. [But that doesn't mean someone else didn't....]

It isn't what I wanted. I didn't choose this. But... I don't have another choice.

[Not with what he just found out.]
