[The video starts with Knock Out in the middle of the junkpile, his blue firelizard perched on his shoulder, flapping its wings with anxiety and looking at the sky.]
I knew that peace wouldn’t last. Anybody else has seen the shiny display? The Lambda is up to something again and…eh...?
[There’s a loud thud and Knock Out turns to face two mutated boars growling and charging at him. They’re not the fasted creature but they’re really nasty looking and seriously? Zombie boars now? Knock Out is so done with this place he swears to primus…
With an irritated sigh he raises his left hand. It changes into a path blaster, not a weapon medics come equipped with very often (or ever), and the boars are blasted away withing seconds. ]
Thank you ‘Cade for the upgrade. [Knock Out murmurs to himself and then focus his attention on the feed again.] I really hate this place sometimes. Who wants roasted pork for dinner?

[He's not going to chuckle at Knock Out's attempts at deflecting his concern.]
Hmm. If it's increasing, that's worrying, though it'll be a while before it might become much of an issue for us... how much radiation can humans be exposed to?
no subject
I'm sure no human will eat anything that smells like a 3 weeks roadkill. Then gain, some of them have some weird taste. Have I ever told you where eggs come from? It's fascinating. [And by fascinating, he means disgusting.]
I honestly have no idea. If their ears or hair starts falling off I would say that level of radiation is one level too much.
no subject
While I doubt there's little enough food any of them would be that desperate anyone might consume... questionable food if that's all that's available.
And, er... no, but I doubt I need to know at the moment.
[Jetfire shakes his helm at that.]
If that starts to happen, I would surmise it's already too late to keep them healthy and safe.
no subject
You would be surprised what a few months of starvation does to people.
Are you sure? I thought that a scientific inclined mech like you would be all over learning new things.
Then they better hurry and hide somewhere.
no subject
I think I have some idea of what starvation might do. Our supply of energon kept dwindling throughout the war...
[Then he smiles dryly.]
I'm not a xenobiologist, Knock Out, and I doubt there's anything at present that might require me to know where eggs come from. And hopefully the temples will be protected against the radiation, at the least.
[But that still leaves the Hub, anywhere else someone might have settled down and the rest of Haven.]
no subject
Still, remind me to explain you that in the future.
Depends on the temple. Megatronus and Liege's temples might be better suited for that sort of protection.
no subject
... I think I might survive not knowing. [Have that muted expression turn rather arched. Really he doesn't need - or really want - to know at the moment.]
... True. I was working on the assumption that even if the greater Haven is compromised, the temples are secure. That ought to be examined more closely, though. And I would surmise that the tunnels under Solus Prime's temple would be suitable protection as well.
no subject
I believe that creatures with no glyph can not enter but radiation is a while different thing. If we want it to stop we need to find it's source.
I¡ll take a wild guess and say the Badland. [SUCH wild guess.]
no subject
I'll take some readings of the radiation levels in the temples. It would be simpler... and safer if they are shielded against radiation. Otherwise... anyone organic is in far graver danger than previously.
[Despite the grimness of that thought, he chuckles dryly at that.]
Mmm, very wild and... ah, unsubstantiated guess, most assuredly.
no subject
I'll talk to the acolytes and try to figure out if they know or if they can find a way to shield them quickly. They're not the most chatty creatures but they're efficient when it comes to this sort of troubles. There's a reason why the FirstForged trust them after all.
[It's fun, in a twisted, sad sort of way.]
Perhaps someone should investigate there. Someone heavily armer and protected enough to avoid being affected by heavy radiation.
no subject
A good idea... And I might be able to risk flying closer to it, but given the nature of the Badlands any recon needs to be brief and probably shouldn't penetrate too deeply into the area.
no subject
Last I checked you were no part of the police Force. I was talking about one of them, not you. It's not your job to get almost killed. [Knock Out's way of saying that would worry him.]
no subject
Knock Out's comment has Jetfire pausing, staring for a moment before he chuckles.]
Perhaps not, but none of them are scientists either, and for any useful data to be gained by such an... excursion, they would either need to be, or carry equipment.
And I've specifically improved my armour to withstand radiation.
no subject
It's sweet of you to actually think about it. There's no changing your mind then.
no subject
Ah... er, sweet I don't know if it is, merely practical. [Does Jetfire look awkward and uncomfortable with the use of 'sweet'? Yes he does.] I'll endeavour to be careful, however. I have no wish of a repeat of something similar to our previous excursions into the Badlands, or what happened when I approached the Lambda.
no subject
Practical, maybe, but still sweet. [Just accept it because Knock Out's going to insist on it.] That will be for the best. What happened when you approached the Lamba?
no subject
Er... if you, ah, say so.
[Jetfire shakes his helm and is pretty glad to drop that.]
It... ah, transported me instantly, much like a spacebridge though without the need for me to go through any apparent transwarp portal, elsewhere in place.
I ended up on a planet. If Liege Maximo hadn't come, it would have taken me... months to get back. [If not more than that.]
no subject
I do say so.
And there was no one else in that planet?
no subject
None. Well, no one sapient or sentient.
[A pause.]
At least not in the usual manner the words might be used. There were insects and small creatures, but they displayed no more than typical intelligence.
Some of the... ah, plants, however...
no subject
I've seen enough earth movies to know where this is going. What did the plans do to you?
no subject
... There are... er, movies? [Have a stare and then Jetfire looks away and shakes his helm.]
Let me just say that their... ah, method and the thoroughness of said method of looking me over made me question my first assessment of 'no sentient or sapient beings on the planet'.
[And that's all he's going to say about that.]
no subject
More than you want to know. Specially Japanese, for some reason. [Knock Out wishes he could forget about a lot of things he learned from the Internet.]
...[EW. Well, his worries were confirmed.] Did you see a medic once you were back? You could have caught something.
no subject
Japanese? A country on Earth, I presume? And ah... [He pauses, then shrugs.] after I unloaded the fruits I'd brought along, yes, I did. Mostly to make sure I hadn't gotten any vegetable matter... er, lodged anywhere.
no subject
Yes. Trust me you don't want to know more than that. Humans are really gross sometimes. You got fruits from those plants? maybe they were angry at your for that.
[...]
Lodged. Uhm. okay.
no subject
I doubt I... ah, want to no.
[Then he huffs, smiling slightly as he shakes his helm.] No, not those plants. After... er, extricating myself I studied them to observe their life cycle since it, like the rest of the planet's vegetation seemed to be on a grossly exaggerated one, and I wanted to see if it could tell me anything...
It didn't really make anything clear regarding their possible... ah, sapience, but it did give me an idea of what to avoid... and yes, lodged. [He raises an upper optic ridge.]
You've been to Earth and unless you've stayed on whatever base the Decepticons had there, I assume you notice that organic planets are good at getting things stuck in you, in all manner of places, even when you thought you were pretty good at avoiding everything.
