The Zone: Part Two
Thanks to the distraction caused by the various creatures and anomalies, and the interference from the ever-increasing radiation, pinpointing the fallen 'meteor' and likely source of the attacks may have been difficult up until now.
But efforts to locate it have paid off.
South-west of Haven, there is a ridged valley that did not exist a week ago. In it's center is a massive, sprawling power plant, exhaust towers rising up to the horizon. It is literally crawling with more mutants.
As if that was not ominous enough, it is a nuclear power-plant.
Anyone who has been to Earth or knows their human history - or happen to be from a Tyran universe - may recognize it for what it is: Chernobyl, straight out of some alternate Ukraine. The facility is tucked in the middle of the valley like it landed there, edges slightly off and melded into the landscape, but entirely intact in it's crumbling, ominous glory. Despite being of human-make, the building is devoid of functional electric lights, the very air around it seeming to leech the light out of the surroundings, but it is far from lacking in 'living' activity.
The concentration of anomalies, radiation, and Lambda-like energy signatures is at it's strongest here, surrounding the moldering facility. Any sensors point to the readings only getting worse on the inside.
Any organics or particularly weak-armored Cybertronians are going to want protective shielding of some variety to participate in this attack. The radiation in this valley is well beyond safe levels, and only on the rise. Any attempts to simply attack from the air (unfortunately) do little damage, the majority of any ordnance hitting some sort of storm cloud-like anomaly thundering with increasing intensity above the facility.
It looks like it might be growing. Time is running out.
You will have to enter to find the source.
[[Mod Note: Given modly time constraints, the following prompts are not intended to be NPC'd, but are instead to serve as a vague story-line for the assault. Feel free to use them, pick and chose only ones that interest you, or to thread your own attack as you please! However, once the Source is reached, a final prompt will be posted when it is destroyed, (or when the event comes to a close a week from today.)
And as a side-note, this plot contains SPOILERS to the end of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series.]]

You couldn't go one panel to the right? [UGH WHATEVER MAN
BESIDES, NEW THING TO BE OFFENDED ABOUT:] We had it under control!
no subject
Guys let's not fight, we have other problems to worry about. [Case in point, there's more chimeras approaching. This time Blurr's ready at least. He shoots at one of the chimeras and the fifth blast even hit it. It moves more slowly but doesn't stop.]
Maybe Cliff is right and I need to get me a bigger weapon.
no subject
[That's a nice hippie way of saying UP YOURS SENTINEL. Kind of. But since Blurr is such a cutie, Drift will leave the sassing at that. Also the chimeras are kind of a big deal. He readies his blades, waiting for Blurr to finish shooting before he charges in to attack the closest critter.]
no subject
SORT OF AT A LOSS OF WHAT TO DO, so he activates his own Totally-Not-Pillar-Gifted gun (forgetting, in the heat of the moment he'd lied to blurr about it) before... not shooting anything. thanks again, drift! your weeb ass is in the way! (like he couldn't make the shot if he wasn't a shitty marksman.) sentinel then swears, deactivates it, brings up his shield and shoves it at blurr before going the same route as drift: stabby shanky with his lance. maybe kicking one of the chimeras as well.
all this in the space of several seconds while yelling "GOD FRAGGING DAMNIT"
he's credit to team!]
no subject
E-Ey wait for me!
[That's probably the first time he ever said that. Blurr runs after them, jumps and kicks a chimera on the head (one of them) and keeps moving forward.]
Maybe we ca trap them somewhere?
no subject
Drift carves his way through a couple more chimeras, leaping over Sentinel at least once to get at another one.
Blurr asking people to WAIT UP was kind of... a thing that never happened. Drift paused in his over the top slaughtering and called out to him.]
I think I can hold them here, you two should go on ahead.
[Ooooh now what SENTINEL.]
no subject
You think? [he pauses to whap a chimera e with the edge of his lance.] No, no. Think isn't happening. You're coming with us.
no subject
Uughhhh....[He stands up groggily and miraculously dodges a chimera trying to gnaw at his face. Out of instinct, Blurr hits it with the shield and it seems to do the trick, the beast takes a few steps back.
He rushes to Drift and Sentinel's side, grabbing Drift's arm in the process.]
NonononoNOONEisstayinghere.
no subject
Fine, but I'm still the best equipped to fight things like this in such a tight space. I'll bring up the rear.
no subject
even though.... blurr fell over......... DEEP SIGH.] I'm not going to have to carry you again, am I?
[then, directed at drift:] Fine. Don't wander off, though. I'm not having any of this [handwave] taking one for the team bullslag.
no subject
NoIamFINEthankyou! [That answer comes a bit too quickly. But Blurr always talks like that so it's hard to tell the difference. He almost trips again, though.
Focusing again, he shoots on the direction of the chimera. If he doesn't hit any at least they stop moving so fast.]
no subject
[But that's all the arguing Drift does. Honestly, he doesn't want to stray too far from Blurr. The little guy seems a bit off, and frankly, Drift wasn't feeling the best either.]
Whatever you came to do in here, we need to get it done fast.
no subject
Pretty sure the idea was to explore and identify potential threats. [a gesture at the dead chimeras.] All we can do now is get out alive and figure out what we need to return with to not... make an embarrassing mess.
no subject
I..think Sentinel's right. We..are ..not all that ready for this. [Blurr's voice was unnaturally slow.] Idon'tfeeltoowell. Did you always had that gun, Sentinel?
no subject
Don't worry about that.
[Speaking of embarrassing messes, Drift's lopping another critter in half and splattering everyone with guts. It's less graceful than his last murdery stabbings, but the thing still dies so hey.]
We're wasting time here, then. Move it!
[Why yes he is being bossy]
no subject
sorry buddy, you're getting piggybacked out of this.
he also uses blurr as a shield. against the guts. double sorry, buddy. at least he isn't using you as a club?]
no subject
Blurr was going to complain more but he suddenly feels even more sick and dizzy. Gee, thanks for putting him almost upside down, it does wonders to his innards.]...ugh.
no subject
Well, stabbing things until he stumbles over his own feet because LOL RADIATION and gets knocked onto his big ass by a horrible boogey monster.
Whoops, huh.]
no subject
[WHY IS EVERYONE FALLING OVER. sentinel can pretend the radiation isn't affecting him because he's amazing all he wants, but the urge to lay down and not move for a while is certainly getting to him.
blurr has his shield, and he won't be able to do anything with his lance that won't endanger him while he's still shoulder slung.
so sentinel puts his INTENSE ELITE GUARD TRAINING to use and... punts it.]
no subject
Sentinel's falcon kick seems to work just fine, thought, and it sends one of the creatures flying.]
I...I know there's corridor that leads outside around here. We..should go to..the..eeeh...east? East.[He's almost sure.]
no subject
Right. East.
....Which way's East?
[guys we suck]
no subject
I'm a little occupied, here. [he's trying to make it look like he's straightening blurr out but KIND OF JUST WANTED A BREAK.] Use your internal GPS thingy.
no subject
Is that way. [Blurr waves his hand to the right direction. Dizzy or not, he can't ever get lost thanks to the abilities the ghyph gave him, so at least there's that...]
Sentinel I can walk, really, you'll hurt yourself...
no subject
We've got it, then. Come on. Do you need help?
[GUYS WE SUCK.]
no subject
I'm fine. [said harshly, he knows he's not entirely 100%. WHATEVER MAN, ONLY WEENIES NEED HELP.]
