[Sissel wasn’t an easy one to surprise, but he had to admit, this was one of the last things he expected.  He’d already woken up unconscious once, but that was after his death.  And now he was...doing it again?  How does a ghost die again? You’d think once would be enough.  It wasn’t made easier being surrounded by giant...things that called themselves Acolytes (whatever that meant) and told him he was on a planet called Cybertron. 

Now...either he really messed up traveling through some phone lines...or there’s something bigger going on. He basically took everything the Acolytes said at face value, and when they left, something finally sunk in. Something that confused him far more than being stuck on some ‘planet’ that wasn’t Earth.

He could move. 

His hands fiddle with the device he was given, a little too jittery than what should be considered normal, and when the feed clicks on, you’re greeted to a rather confused man in sunglass-sir what is your hair even.]

 

I’m alive.

 

[Yes, thank you Sissel.]

 

I’m alive and I shouldn’t be.

 

Is there anyone on the other side of this? I really need to get back home. I don’t have a lot of time.

 

[He’s got less than 8 hours left of his ‘afterlife’, he’s got to make them count.]

Well, it's...after someone dies, they become a spirit. That's what a ghost is.

[A pause.]

We lose our physical bodies.

Lose, like...you've transcended the need for it, right?

Oh, I'm dead, no doubt about that.

[Theorize away, Drift! You can do it for him!]

You've pretty much got it. Our bodies are empty vessels, and...I'm not really sure what happens to us after, but ghosts have until the next dawn until they cease to exist entirely.

When we die...we don't really remember who we are. Or exactly how we died. Sometimes our memories come instantaneously...or after looking at the scene of our death.

But for some of us, we're still alone in the dark.

All I really know is my name right now.

[He's never heard of such a thing. This gives him ideas. Mystical and spooky ideas.]

[Oh right, names. ] I'm Drift. And a name is a good place to start.

Then I guess you disappear without ever finding out. Not that it changes your fate, but at least you'd rest easy.

Maybe those rules don't apply here. Wi--my friend--was dead in our world. He's alive here. So maybe that will happen for you.

[Drift figures if nothing else, hope can brighten one's last hours.]

[He puts a hand to his chin, thinking this over.]

Some other person...I'm not sure if he was Cybertronian or like me, but he said that we travel through time AND space.

No, fate has a way of moving. But that doesn't mean that you shouldn't have hope. Maybe that's your destiny, why you're here and not there.

I mean, why would someone be brought here for only a few cycles?

[He nods.]

I think so. This is the past, it seems, of this Cybertron.

[He gives a slight laugh at that. His destiny...that word was used a lot with him. He liked to think he had something so grand laid out for him.]

...So this is the birth of your world. In a sense.

It's the birth of a world, if not mine or yours. And we have some responsibility not to mess it up, I think.

Size doesn't matter. I'm small for my kind. It's never stopped me from doing my job.

[Sometimes his job wasn't very nice.]

It's always better to try to do something than to just...wait to die. [He winces, realizing too late that that was, well...a bit tacky.] I mean, even in the gutters: it was better to try to fight to live than to just give up.

Funny way to get a second chance at life, now that I think about it.

Everyone has unique talents. There's a human here from Earth who can modify our weapons. So don't underestimate what you can do.
